Although I have worked with some kind individuals as well, I will do everything in my power not to have to get any more services provided to me at this hospital. I was suffering from symptoms related to alcoholism. I stopped drinking to deal with these issues, but I am aware and afraid of the potentially deadly effects of alcohol withdrawal. As I've done in the past, I went through the steps I take to detox, which consists of drinking a very small amount of alcohol (less than .2 oz of liquor) three times a day several hours apart. I did this for three times a day. I ended up feeling something stuck in my throat and I was afraid I would choke on it at night. At 1:00 AM on that fourth day, I drove myself to the emergency room at Valley Regional Medical Center on Alton Gloor in Brownsville Texas. I was barely able to get myself in the door, fill out the forms and after a long wait I spoke to someone, shared my story and symptoms, and told them I did not need to detox from alcohol, I had already done that. They immediately and repeatedly injected me with what I'm call synthetic alcohol and I lost the ability to think straight or fully control my body. I think they pumped me with this stuff multiple times a day for most of my stay. This was really power stuff I told them I didn't need. I tried to get to the restroom soon after that and defecated myself along the way. My mom got there later and luckily the doctors told her what my issues were and a few days later updated her on the status of those issues. My sister, who I did not want there, also showed up. I asked her to leave shortly thereafter but she hung around and was somehow able to get some of the information on my issues from the staff which she later used against me and shared this incomplete information with several people including one of my good friends. They put me in a bed, connected me to various medical equipment, and told me I wasn't allowed to move from the bed. I was starting to go crazy from what I think was the synthetic alcohol. I repeatedly and annoyingly begged anyone I could talk to allow me to let me stand and walk a bit. At the very least to let me sit up straight with my feet on the ground. They told me I could not move. My mom made the same appeal but she was told that they couldn't listen to her because she wasn't the patient. The assured us that the physical therapist would be there the next morning at 10AM to take me for a walk. To deal with me, they started pumping me anti-anxiety meds and sleeping pills for at least 24 hours. This drove me absolutely mad. I was a completely out of my mind. They had these robots that according to one or two nurses were always recording patients, even in the most intimate of procedures\activities. I tried to put my feet on the ground to sit up straight for a little bit. The robot went off like an alarm and I was surrounded and forced back into the bed. At some point they moved me and I tried to put my feet on the ground again. The robot went off, and keep remember, I was absolutely insane at this point, and I'm not a violent person, but I went after the think to try to punch it. I didn't have control my body, so I missed, but I nicked it with my thumb and got a huge gash on my thumb. I was moved to another room. Several people saw me bleeding, no one gave me medical attention even as my mom kept asking someone to take a look at the huge gash. While in the other room, I kept asking folks, is this real? At some point I was convinced the hospital was doing this to me to cover up some equipment I they were using I had a patent for. I'm not an inventor or engineer, by the way. I think it was two days after I was supposed to get my PT, the PT guy finally found me and let me walk with him up and down the hall for about 30 seconds. From my second day there, I asked several nurses and doctors if I could please get a list of what was given to me (in most cases injected), how much, and what it was for. I also asked repetitively for that list to include what my diagnoses were when I got there and how they had progresses. I was assured by each I would get that before I left. Friday afternoon, I talked to the Kidney doctor. He told me that my kidneys were doing allot better (I guess there was something wrong with them), but he wanted me to stay one more day because there was still a chance of a seizure. I reminded him that he was scheduled to see me on Wed, so when he said one more day, that probably meant one more week. He told me that as my doctor he had the right to make me stay longer. I told him that as a patient I had the right to refuse service. He shook his head no, but there was a nurse there that reminded him I was right. I was eventually allowed to sign some forms and leave towards the floor exit. When I spoke to the billing lady, she assured me, there was no way I was getting that list of what was given to me, the issues the

There is certainly something to be said about great service! Rebekah was very knowledgeable and was able to help me pick the most appropriate frame for my prescription. Their frames were stylish, yet sturdy, well-made and priced fairly. After discussing my options I settled on two pairs of progressives. This was my first time with bifocals and Rebekah was, again, just wonderful in explaining my options, providing helpful tips on how to use them, and assuring me that I could come right back in if I had any problems. She also explained the importance of precision in progressives so I was happy to see that they used digital measurement. I was so happy with my glasses that E. came here to get his prescription filled too. He had a pair of progressives that he got last year at another place and he never did get used to them so he had just set them aside. They were able to make him new lenses and now he is seeing just fine! After 5 months of blissful vision I fell asleep in my glasses and bent them beyond repair. Fortunately they said I had purchased insurance and so they replaced them for $20 with no hassle. They even had the frame in-stock so I was in and out in just a few minutes. You can bet that E. and I will return when it is time for new glasses!

In my younger years I seemed to…read moreget over my pain and discomfort in two or three days, As I have gotten older(82 years old now), it can take as long as a month and more to get me back to some sense of normality. I started seeing chiropractors in 1985 in Corpus Christi, Texas and continued the chiropractor visits when I moved to Harlingen in 1988. This past November, 2025 , I started having pain in my lower back and decided to contact my local chiropractor for assistance. After a total of 13 sessions over a two month period, I felt that I was heading in the wrong direction with my pain and discomfort getting worse with each session. On January 4th I fell down at a local restaurant. I did not trip at all; I just felt a sharp stabbing pain in my lower back(left side) and my left leg collapsed. Over the next eight days I fell four more times when that same stabbing pain hit me. I feel lucky that I didn't hit my head or hurt myself during the five falls. I wish I had quit the chiropractor visits sooner, but, I was still hoping the sessions would ultimately lead to some improvement in my condition. In early January, 2026 my regular doctor, Endocrinologist Luis Reynoso, recommended that I try physical therapy for my condition. Dr. Reynoso first ordered an MRI for me and then made a referral for physical therapy with Total Rehabilitation Services. A referral was also made for me to see a neurosurgeon(Dr. Bradley Stevenson) to determine how serious my back problem might be. Unfortunately, the earliest the neurosurgeon could see me was April 17th, 2026. With this kind of a waiting period I decided to try physical therapy first. I figured that I would go thru the initial evaluation and see if there was any reason to wait until after the neurosurgeon appointment to begin therapy sessions. I did have the initial evaluation for physical therapy on March 13th and began my therapy sessions on March 17th. After the very first session, I noticed a change in my posture. For four months before the therapy I had noticed that I seemed to be leaning to the left when I tried to stand up straight. when I arrived at my home after the first session I no longer had that lean to the left; I also noticed that I had no discomfort in my lower back at all. I had started using a walker to keep from falling and continued to use the walker during the next three therapy sessions. I am no longer using the walker as I feel that I am now walking normally and do not need the assistance of a walker. I realize I have mad this review somewhat long; however, I felt a need to explain my situation. Thirteen visits with the chiropractor didn't help me at all. The first physical therapy visit got me going in the right direction. Everyone I have dealt with at Total Rehab, from the front desk to the therapists, has been great-totally professional and courteous. I still have four more PT sessions scheduled. Did not explain well what would happen after visits. Received a surprise call of a prescription available at the pharmacy even though the doctor had mentioned that it was not safe to prescribe that specific medication to the patient. I don't know if we happened to have bad luck and catch the doctor on bad days. I hope he can learn from his mistakes, find kindness in his heart, and show respect to his patients. Maybe its a case of burnout, I hope this doctor finds peace.
