I have been going to the Florida Keys to go diving for over 10 years now and I have to say I have converted from Rainbow reef to Islamorada Dive Center because the service is much friendlier, more accommodating, and the communication is so easy and straightforward. Keira is a pleasure to book with and work with to plan dive trips and she goes out of her way to make sure everyone has a pleasurable dive experience. Captain Jason is very safety forward and makes sure everyone gets on and off the boat securely. He is also so fun and always a pleasure to be on his boat. The instructors we dove with, KA, Tomos and Sonia were super patient and understanding of our different levels of experience. When we wanted to branch out and try new things like lobstering, they were very accommodating, and everyone was willing to work with us to be successful. I love that unlike at places in Key Largo such as Rainbow reef you can actually lobster and Spearfish with Islamorada, but they actually make sure you do it in a safe and responsible way which I really appreciate. I will definitely look forward to diving with this team again! read more

Looks like a nice place for dive But not to shop or browse! As I was looking at the jewelry and asked the associate if I could see some earrings in the case. She said ok sure you can take them out. But then she said, "just don't steal them! I don't know what to say and surely didn't want to buy anything there! I was so insulted! I'm strong on morals and this was shocking to me. Took open water dive cert here and had a blast. Every staff member I interacted with was kind, helpful, passionate, and safety-conscious. I do wish they were better about inspecting their rental equipment. My OWD class saw a few non-safety-critical equipment issues like a mildly leaky BCD and torn wetsuits. read more

Absolutely terrible experience. We didn't even make it through the front door before being treated with an incredibly rude, dismissive attitude. From the second she saw us, it was clear we weren't welcome. We came ready to spend our money, but instead turned around and left because no business deserves our support when customers are treated like that. Whether she was an employee or the owner, her behavior was unacceptable and completely drove away paying customers. Needless to say, we won't be back and will gladly take our business somewhere that knows how to treat people with basic courtesy. read more

We had 4 amazing dives with Islamorada Dive Center! It was so convenient since we stayed at Three Waters Resort, too. We were only on our 5th dive since being certified, so we opted to have a dive guide on our dives and Nate and Charlton were fantastic. We saw more underwater sea life and learned a ton because of their help. read more

We came here for the first time. Now that we had enough dives under our built (92(. we decided we would try lobster hunting g and spear fishing. We almost got the lobster but they are fast! Then the next day we took a least. O. How to spear fish and the our 2nd dive we went out with our spears. Every instructor was fantastic. The prices are reasonable, and the experience is beyond belief. My son came down and got certified, and I went out with him and we saw more fish, eels, sea life than you could ever imagine. Call Kiera, who run the center he would be more than happy to get you scheduled. Equipment is new and state-of-the-art and the boat is very comfortable and not overcrowded. Had a great time here, the instructors that I had were great and the crew had really good energy. They were funny, friendly and flexible, I definitely had to be as well, and willing to ensure you have a great diving experience. Very social environment the other divers that were on the trip were great and made it fun. Swam with some nurse sharks, but didn't get to see any wrecks. Next time though! read more

Amazing captain (Jesse) and dive instructors, and the instructor who booked the dives was really kind, Kira. I highly recommend Katie as an instructor/guide. We're both certified, but Katie gave us great service. Katie changed tanks, rinsed gear, knew the dive site well enough to show us lobsters, shrimp, turtles, stingrays. Probably one of the best guides I've ever had. There was another guide on the boat collecting Lion fish, so this operation is looking out for the environment. Highly recommend this team! read more

Easy to rate this one - 5 out of 5. Does that mean they are perfect? of course not. But...they are at the top of their industry. Every day we were assigned to a new guide: Devon, then Doug, then Angeline. They were all absolutely amazing. The captain worked hard at learning everyone's names...and succeeded! That is just stupid hard with a new group of divers on every trip - but he did it anyway. I have been diving with MANY dive centers. There is often a slightly condescending attitude at those places that absolutely doesn't exist at Islamorada dive Center. From the moment we walked into the shop it felt as if they had know us a long time and were welcoming us back. It was wonderful. before we finish our 4 days of diving, we were already talking about coming back next year. I'm a repeat diver at this location primarily because of their superior focus on my comfort and the security of my surroundings. This dive shop is top shelf in terms of their drive to ensure I have an awesome experience. Their staff are extremely happy to provide you with technical assistance, physical aid in getting up and off the boat, and their staffing ratios allow you to partner with somebody underwater so that you can really feel guided to see what you came to see. Their equipment is in pristine condition and the boat (and Captain Greg) is extremely well-maintained. The staff put me on the reef with subject matter expert's that allow me to really enjoy my time. They are so happy to show you amazing and large schools of fish, lobsters, nurse sharks, eels and corals. I've been diving for over 20 years, and this has become one of my favorite dive locations because you just can't beat their guest service and focus on my happiness. "Felt like family!" My husband dives with IDC often. However, I haven't dove in almost 2 years. I wanted to take the refresher course to get me back on track. Once we arrived, we were very warmly greeted and I felt like family. They took care of all our gear and set us up quickly. I was very anxious to say the least. However, the refresher course eased all of my anxiety. I felt very prepared for the boat dive. The boat dive was safe and super fun! I highly recommend IDC. We cannot recommend Eric and his team highly enough! My husband and I had an amazing time with Eric and Sophia on a private dive charter. I have challenges clearing my ears and often have to bail on dives when we go with a larger boat full of divers. Sophia was so patient and let me take the time I needed to get comfortable in the water and descend at my pace. We had some of the best dives I've had anywhere and would recommend them for anyone from beginner to advanced tech diver like my husband. Not family friendly. They obviously don't like kids. From the moment I checked in (twice, see below) I was met with disdain. My husband and I are very experienced divers and we took our children. My husband and son dove and I hung back with my daughter to snorkel because she isn't certified yet. We did our waivers ahead of time, I checked in, then was rudely told by another staff member that I hadn't checked in, did more paperwork and they didn't believe I checked in already (my son even heard them talking behind our backs). Then, I witnessed multiple folks using non reef friendly sunscreen on the boat and the dive shop didn't care or announce anything about it. Later, my 9yo daughter was having a rough day and her and I were chastised by crew as if I was a child when I was trying to get her to jump off the boat. The crew also swore around the kids. The dive sites were not that great. Stick to Captain Hooks and make the drive if you can, they love families and care about the reefs. read more

Let me just say this is a FIRST RATE outfit! The people are friendly want you to have fun and learn and advance your scuba skills!!! Shout out to Luke for the Under Water Hunter course and Kelsey for my afternoon two tank dive. I did the Hunter PADI course in the morning. The owner of the shop has written the PADI book!! So I had to do it. It was not as scary as I thought and I felt safe handling the spear gun. The instructions were straight forward. Unfortunately fishing is not catching. It just happened that In January a lot of fish are out of season the grouper, hog fish and others you would want to eat...we did catch a nice Jack and a a Lion Fish which are tasty!!! We had a nurse shark follow us for a while so that ate into our fishing time. I totally felt safe with a close shark encounter! Nurse sharks are like big dogs but you still want to be careful. The afternoon fun dives while shallow were a blast. We had a great day with 80-100 feet of visibility. Being an advanced open water diver I led another diver around the reef in 15-25 feet of water. Every type of tropical fish and some nice big Grouper. We did see some baby hammer head sharks called Mobia I believe and a FAST MOVING shark that swam past us like lightning! Secondly the equipment was top notch! Nearly brand new Scuba Pro gear!!! All in all a good day of four dives two being a class with rental gear for $330. Pretty fair price with tanks and weights. read more

I have been with a lot of dive shops and this one, by far is my favorite. The main reason(s) are Kira, Capt. Sean, Will, Ryan and a young lady whose name I cannot recall, but she was an instructor and crew member who took great care of my gear. I think she had shells in her hair. I had called a month in advance and spoke to Kira who was immensely friendly and helpful. When I asked about spearfishing she got me excited about the Underwater Hunter certification that their shop designed. We arrive at the shop and they take our gear and get us set up. Will is the instructor who taught me the underwater course. After watching and listening I felt confident I was ready to give it a go. I missed my first shot but Will backed me up and took the fish. On the second dive I got my first kill, a lionfish. Will had seen it on a rock and released one band and gave me the go ahead. It was a small one but I was hooked. I was grateful that he gave me the shot. The next day we went to a wreck and saw some beautiful Goliath Groupers. I got a yellowtail snapper and Ryan got a bar jack. Second dive was low vis and heavy current so we didn't get much but did pull one bug. The first of six that wasn't pregnant. The Captain and the crew don't cut corners. They are professional and they want nothing more than make sure you have a great time. The missing star is for the manager. I just thought he was a crew member. He behaved on board like a frat boy and I saw some behavior that was just simply unacceptable. I went into the store after the dive to mention this to Kira, whom based on her professionalism, I thought was the manager. I told her what I had seen and she said he is the manager. I was stunned that an employee, much less a manager had behaved in this way. I did some searching and found the owner's contact info and left him a voice mail explaining I would like to discuss an issue I had seen with his manager. Never heard back. The staff and crew make this a great dive shop, but the owner needs to know there is an issue. It is a shame because his team represents this shop leaps and bounds better than he does. He should not be a reflection on them. read more

Hands down, beyond the pale the best dive center in the upper keys. I have dove every other dive company and Islamorada goes above and beyond in both merit, integrity, customer service, availability and flexibility. Diving with this company is a must. From the personal service of setting up your gear for you and switching tanks to storing your gear and handling it when the dive is over, this organization is run right from the top down in a world where sometimes bare minimum is accepted as standard. Keirra runs the front office and is more amicable and accommodating than any I have seen thus far in my 12 years of diving the keys. Shawn the boat captain is knowledgeable, professional and has an air of quiet leadership and professionalism. The man loves his job and you can tell each and every day. Dive guides Kelsey, Chase and Sonya are top notch. Professional at all times but approachable and always up for a laugh and to help out with any gear questions or minor tweaks or 'techniques' you may require. If you dive in the keys, dive with them. Can't stress this enough. I was set up to dive half with IDC and half with another company. I subsequently cancelled all my dives with the other company and went solely with them with zero regrets. Veterans are offered a 10% discount and their rates are as good as or better than competition in nearby Largo. Price breaks based on number of dive trips/packages are fair and equitable. The travel time to the sites is cut in half, and since you are not in the Pennekamp reserve, you are able to hunt for lobster and spearfish if its in season. Free beer after your dive! 20 out of 10. Will dive again. Gave 5 stars because I couldn't give 7. Whatever they are doing, it is working. If I owned a dive shop, I would model it after them. Rob S read more

I spent a couple weeks in the keys with my sole goal being to dive as much as possible so I did a bunch of research on shops and sites, reading reviews and calling around and this shop is everything their reviews say they are: down-to-earth, personable, fun, experienced, and safe. There's not a bad bone in their team and it shows. I just need up diving with a few other shops too for certain sites and times but I gotta tell you, these guys take the cake hands down. I saw more wildlife and had better visibility on all my dives with them than the other shops, and always felt welcome and wanted on their ships. We just completed a week of diving here and were extremely pleased with the experience. We've dived all over the world and while the visibility at Islamorada was not what we're accustomed to, the staff and crew were fantastic. The boat was in excellent condition and clean. This was boutique diving where they change your tank between dives and except for my reg being put on upside down a couple of times (not a big deal) there were no big issues & the crew was knowledgeable & fun. Just a little feedback, on 2 days we had deep dives with very short surface intervals afterward that caused my conservatively set computer to declare deco violations on the 2nd dive both days. I hate disobeying my computer but my backup computer (& experience) told me I was fine, but still... it would have been better to have longer interval times. If we return to Islamorada we wouldn't consider going anywhere else. This is a legit operation and the real deal. We thoroughly enjoyed our week diving here. read more

After a promising sales pitch to dive with this Dive Center, we made the decision to dive. we were all loaded to dive and the boat was inoperabl. Quick fix to move to another boat to make the drive, and it was down too! All gear was to be moved for us, never happened and we had to return for gear. GoPro not returned and after 3 calls to shop still no return calls. showed up in person and we're told " check your bag again" This Company is poorly run when it boast"customer service is our goal" With numerous dive centers, I recommend looking elsewhere. Awesome dive center! I came here because of some excellent past dive experiences with dive master Sonja. Not only was I able to dive with her again, but I was able to meet a whole host of characters. Devin, Jessie, Angeline, Sonja and Captain Greg gave us such a great day on the water. Three days in a row of afternoon snorkeling trips canceled. Two of the 3 days the weather looked great. It's a big dive boat. They probably didn't have a full boat and that was the reason for all the cancellations. On the third day they didn't cancel until 11:31 am. Checkout was at 11 am. Luckily we already left for our home on the Space Coast in FL. The Keys are super super SUPER expensive! Part of the once and done club. read more

Incredible operation here - very impressive! My husband and I dove all day with them today. My husband is a Master Scuba Diver and I am newly minted Advanced Open Water. From the staff at check in to the captain to the crew - all treat you like family. Boat isn't crowded and left on time. Crew handles the setup and changeover of your gear. Great music (by a Gen X's standard). Shady area if you burn as quickly as I do. Coolers on the boat - one for fish/lobsters and a second that you can put food/drink. No mask bucket but they did have a camera bucket for my husband's camera. Cold water available in a cooler as well. Good safety and dive briefings. Also, the reef is SO much healthier in this area versus Key Largo. Looking forward to diving with them again when we come back to the Keys!! read more

Highly recommend this dive shop/boat for any level of diver. My husband and I did the Shallow dive boat with two dives and full rental gear.
