We dove with captain Curtis today along with Maddie his deck hand and Allyssa the dive master. All the crew were excellent and we had a great time! Alyssa was a great guide, very patient with the group of new divers and accommodating to us more experienced ones. The scuba equipment we rented was very nice, our wet suits were still stretchy and newer. and I was very happy that their regulators were quality and I could take as deep a breath as needed. They also had integrated weights which a lot of dive shops do not. The Captain and dive master worked together to find an alternative dive spot when our first stop had low visibility, which they did. We had two nice dives at Delra and a better one at sombrero reef. Highly recommend Captain cooks and their crew! read more

Now for are dive, the crew and the dive masters he had were all very good (first day was Gary and second day was Elaine I think) we did 2 dives both were 2 tank one was a morning dive and one was a sunset/night dive the sunset night dive was amazing your first dive would end right as the sun was setting you would come up watch the sunset then go back down and do the night dive. This dive shop would be great for beginning divers. Shallow 40 minute dives and returning to the boat with 1500 lbs of air felt like getting short-changed; especially when "Orchid" (or whatever his name was) told us that being a dive master was like herding cats. The weather further north wasn't as great, so I dove here the week before Christmas. A mixed bag, but generally good. We had a two tank / two dive trip in the afternoon and it was the least expensive trip I saw. If money is a concern, this might be the choice for you in the Keys. The boat is well managed, they know their jobs. and they're good at them. There were a few things I didn't like so much. The trip we were on was very student and snorkel focused. In one way that's good because the half dozen or so of us that were experienced divers probably weren't enough to justify the trip otherwise. But it made it feel crowded and somewhat like a cattle car. Although each of us was experienced, I felt there was pressure to go with a dive guide, even though I didn't want one. The site briefs were moderately good, but after diving them, I feel there could have been a better orientation, at least a drawing or map of the reef to look at. Just a cooler of water, no snacks or other drinks. On our trip, the first dive site was a washout; a shallow reef at ~10', light wave surge and very little aquatic life. We swam back and forth for about 40 minutes over the same patch. Not a fun one, but it was a dive. The second site was way better - 30-40', ledge reef with lots of life. Small barracuda, tons of schooling fish, interesting small fish with lots going on. A great Keys reef. Overall - going with 3 stars because as I look back, it was an OK trip, but I'm not enthused to go back. I might be back, but not as a first choice. Sorry guys, just didn't get turned on by the trip. read more

The team on the boat in marathon was great. We went out on the boat for 2 tank dives but visibility was very poor so we had to turn back. No fault to the crew, they definitely tried very much and as a result gave several recommendations of what else to do that day in the area. The experience up until getting on the boat was really chaotic and bad though. First signed up for two days of diving, Sat and Sun and they took payment immediately. Nbd. Then someone called Fri saying no boat going on Sat so that's canceled and supposedly refunded. (No refunds have been received days later, they blame the card company). Then I get a call on Sat to move me to a boat in Pine Key. Sunday rolls around, drive the 30 mins to Pine to find a full dive shop or people who did the same and the trip is cancelled. The shop staff there was horrid. Kept screaming the weather is bad. Totally fine but everyone drove from Marathon and no one was called to say not to come since the trip was cancelled. Terrible service. Staff seemed giddy the trip was canceled. Then I ended back up in Marathon for what I described above. Again, no one blames you for the weather, but CALL AND TELL the people driving 30 mins to get there. Still no refunds either. But the dive staff and captain were great in Marathon. Shop staff are nonexistent and scatterbrained. Also for experienced divers, these dives we would have done are very shallow at 25'. I would not dive with them again purely for the chaos in the process to set the dives up and dealing with the staff in the shop. read more

Very knowledgeable, friendly and patient with my 2 boys and their many questions and apprehensions, since this was their first time snorkeling. We went with Captain Hooks to the Coffin Patch reef, about 15 minutes offshore. A beautiful forest of sea fans and lots of great fish: angels (blue, queen, French, grey and a rock beauty), barracuda, a big green moray, and swarms of friendly, fearless Bermuda chub. Most people dove but we snorkeled, and at 10-20 feet we could everything easily. Malcolm and Chris, our captain and first mate, were friendly, easy going and skilled. Be sure to bring some money for the well-stocked gift and fishing shop. 5* = incredible (rare) 4* = very good/ strong desire to return 3* = generally good experience 2* = poor/ no desire to return 1* = a particularly awful experience read more

All the staff are incredible, they really work for their customers, accommodate as much as possible, and the training is fantastic! Two of my teenagers got their diving certifications with Vianne. She is super! Her instruction is clear, she's a great teacher and a lot of fun! We also took our whole family on a snorkel cruise. They had to cancel twice due to weather, but they kept working with us until we were able to go. We wound up going out of Big Pine Key, had a fantastic crew - Will, Mike, and Vince. We just went out with them snorkeling today. The crew was really friendly and funny. My daughter was initially very hesitant to go in the water and they took their time and explained everything to her and helped convince her. Can't say enough good stuff about the crew here and how friendly and professional they were. (Diving in Florida beats Minnesota diving every day but especially in winter.) While I didn't end up diving on this trip, their intro to diving for my kids was very reasonably priced. I mainly purchased live & frozen bait, chum & terminal tackle from the bait shop. The staff was very friendly & were really good about helping us park the boat to access the store & get our needed supplies. I was really pleased to find a locally owned source that provided me what I needed to get on the fish. My only suggestion would be for the store to get the guys selling the bait out on a few charters to give them a better working knowledge of the fishery. They were honest about what they know & don't know, but my expectation would have been someone there being able to give some advice on what's biting, where it's biting & how to rig the bait. I have a friend who helped me learn the fishery, but knowing what size hook & kind of bait yo throw at the yellowtail would have made the trip to the reef that much more rewarding. They still get 5 stars for being as great as they are. read more

Two stars may be a stretch for this review. We showed up for our 1 pm reservation at 12:07 pm, as we were asked to come an hour before our reservation, and we greeted by seemingly disgruntled and exceptionally unorganized staff. When we all sat down to sign our paperwork, I informed the lady checking us in that I didn't have my dive card and she responded quite hatefully with "Well, guess we'll have to walk all the way back inside to pull it up." Once she found my information & asked me how long it had been since my last dive, she very rudely told me I wouldn't be diving today since it had been so long since mg last dive because "her boat, her rules." Then she snapped at me asking why they weren't informed about how long it had been since my last dive was when the reservation was made, even though I didn't make the reservation and when my friend did make the reservation they never even asked... Once on the boat when went about 20 min to our first spot. Divers went in first, then the snorkelers. It was made known multiple times that 3 people in our group had never snorkeled before. No instruction was given at ALL on how to snorkel, use the gear, etc. One of the new snorkelers in our group immediately got panicked in the water and myself and another friend in our group had to help her back to the boat safely because no one on the boat was even paying attention to the people snorkeling in the water. The first dive was supposed to be an hour under water but was cut short at 45 min. The surface time was literally only 5-8 min before at the second site and back in the water. Never have I been on a boat with such little surface interval time AND with mates that wouldn't even change your tank for you. The second dive was quite short as well. For a crew/company that announced at least 5 times that they make their living off of tips and how much safety training their staff go through, they may need to retrain all of their staff from beginning of experience to end on customer service and just being friendly overall. Not the best way to get repeat business or those tips you asked us for 5 times. read more

Todays crew (Captain Brad, Sam, and Kevin) we're all incredible. We have dove with this dive center 6 times and while they are always great, the staffs energy, attitude, and excitement really shown through. Dive conditions were pretty perfect today (light current, 50+ ft. visibility) and we went to Coffin Patch and The Aquarium. (See pictures). Sam was our guide and was truly incredible. His excitement for the sport showed in the way he talked about his experience and there was never a moment where he wasn't smiling. He was also the first guide who offered to take a picture of my entire family (which came out great). Captain Brad was great as well. His safety brief was entertaining and he was always playing good music on the boat. We all felt 100% comfortable on board. He was extremely safe and good at what he does. Overall, an incredible day in the water and we will keep coming back. read more
