They installed Malarkey Vista AR composition shingles that match the roof on our garage that they did a great job on several years ago. The roof on our house is not simple. There are several dormers, two main ridges, shed roofs on long bump outs on the side and returns on gable ends. The removed a metal chimney we no longer use and cut in ridge vents. The house is stucco and they neatly and properly flashed and counter flashed everything. In addition, the porch has a hip roof with a 4' x 5' flat section on which they put a PVC roof to replace roll roofing. They meticulously protect the house and plants and clean up everyday. TLDR: do not hire for anything other than spot repairs for leaking roofs…read more So we hired this company to repair a leak coming down in our garage. Sales person came out for review to make an assessment on what would be involved. In the conversation they offered to clean the roof, I told them there's a lot of moss up there and they said they could easily do that. Oh they cleaned something, just not the whole roof. They got the entire north side of my house covered in caked on globs of dirt. This included everything around there like my A/C exterior fan unit, my trash bins, my shed, my storage lockers and my deck boxes. They left a hose, my hose, on the roof and running all night long until my wife spotted it the next morning. My front hose was also used, I know this because instant of rolling it back up using the roll they just left it all piled up at the corner of my house. Now told them about this, and the person who responds just always says they'll get in touch with their "experts" and let me know. Eventually they came back to finish cleaning the roof and clean up the mess on the side of the house. They came and went then I got home and checked, looked like they took about two seconds to clean some of the side but ran off to their next project. It was in no way clean or even in the condition it was in prior to their work. As for the roof being cleaned and moss control applied, I can't get all the way up on the 2nd floor roof to know but my HVAC company came out to do some other work related to "Smokey cedar smell in air ducts, & they climbed up to the 2x!: floor and took photos. There was no moss control applied on the 2nd floor roof and miss was growing everywhere on the west back side, yes this was the very next day after M&H came. Cleaning and moss control were services we agreed M&H would do.m, but they clearly didn't yet still charged me for it. Oh and that donkey cedar smell? Sawdust in the HVAC exhaust line from roof & vent repairs. So basically the roofing company offered a series of services they never fully executed. I had to hire a different company to complete the gutter work and re-clean the lower & upper roofs and apply moss control up on the 2nd roof. Then I had to clean out my HVAC vents, and I had to wash and scrub the exterior of my house. How are they still in business is beyond me.

As I began using my master bath following a remodel this past November, I began to notice water leaking around the exhaust fan and down the vaulted ceiling and adjacent walls. As I also replaced the fan in the remodel, my initial thought was that the new exhaust fan was not getting the job done; it didn't even occur to me that my four year old "lifetime" roof was leaking. When I uninstalled the fan to get a peek into the ceiling I found dripping wet, moldy roof decking, trusses, insulation and sheet rock. Close inspection of the roof reveals that the panels were cut too short and don't extend far enough under the vented ridge cap to keep wind driven rain out of my home. Paul (the so-called owner of this fine business) bid my project but had nothing to do with installing my roof. He sent a crew of three young men whose credentials and skill level were unknown to me to roof my home. A larger ridge cap will solve this problem, but it's become clear that Paul will not be coming up for air on this one. I have left no less than a dozen voice mails on Pauls home and cell phone lines over the past few weeks with absolutely ZERO RESPONSE. This guy puts himself out there as a pillar of our community. If you visit his website, you see a lovely picture of he and his family with the caption: "With over 15 years of roofing experience, Island Roofing and Remodel, LLC is a family owned Whidbey Island business. We employ members of our community who proudly serve our community." What a joke. If you're looking for a roof that doesn't leak and/or ANY service after the sale, DO NOT call this guy. I wouldn't trust this business to roof my dog house...absolutely disgraceful.
