We recently bought a house that was built in 2000. We weren't sure if the roof was the original one from 2000. We got a roof replacement quote from one company with the cheapest option being $22,000. We wanted multiple quotes so, after looking at Yelp reviews, we contacted Cornerstone Roofing. Mike (from Cornerstone) came today to give us a quote. After getting up on the roof, he came down and let us know that our roof looks great and does not need to be replaced. He explained what materials he saw that showed it was a newer roof and listed all the features that were put in when it was replaced. He gave us the name of the shingle company and let us know we probably still had a warranty through them. He even followed up after he came, saying he looked up satellite images and the roof was probably replaced in 2016/2017. I had already contacted the shingle company to ask about the warranty and, Mike was right, the roof had been replaced in 2016. We now have a warranty we can use if an issue with our roof comes up and we know that we do not need to replace our roof for many years. Mike saved us a minimum of $22,000. I can't speak to the quality of Cornerstone Roofing's work (only because we didn't end up needing it) but I can speak to the honesty, integrity and knowledge of their employees. read more

We had Cornerstone replace our 18-year old roof that was showing its age and had cracking plastic box vents with a small leak. Mike quoted both to repair and to replace, and we got an honest opinion that replacing was better given the age and possibility for more leaks. We also went with them because their quote was competitive and we liked the Certainteed Presidential TL product they offered. Their crew showed up on time on the agreed upon day and quickly removed the old roof and installed the new one. We love the look of the Presidential TL, it adds an elegance to our house that stands out compared to our neighbors, and we've received many compliments. My only suggestion to Cornerstone is to improve their communication. For example, it was forecast to rain most of the week before our install. Rather than me calling to ask if our install was still on schedule, it would have been nice to get a proactive call from them assuring us of that fact. Also, the install crew was very nice and professional, but on the 2nd day after they were done they just disappeared without a word. I would have appreciated a knock on the door to say they're done and that another guy would stop by next week to do the final cleanup and touch-ups (instead I called to ask if they were truly done and why there were still nails and debris in our yard). Personally I think over-communication to the customer would be preferred with a project of this size. read more

I arranged for six bids from reputable contractors. Cornerstone explained why I needed plywood sheathing atop my 1949 shiplap in order for a CertainTeed roof system to work for 40 years, why ridge vents aren't right for the tiny ridges on hipped roofs. The whole team was stellar in speedily tearing off, rebuilding my roof system and cleaning up completely in a day and a half. I could not be happier with the entire process. read more

Leading up to the start of construction, the construction manager detailed what to expect during the work, when materials would arrive, and when the work should be completed. The construction crew arrived on time each day and put in a tremendous amount of work. They were professional, courteous, and did meticulous cleanup after the end of the day. Cornerstone Roofing did an amazing job. They replaced three sections of the roof to solve a leak problem. Everyone at the company kept me informed of the process and timing. The only reminder they needed from me was to send the completed photos. The "On the Roof" crew was wonderful. They waited on site for one whole day hoping the weather would clear, but it never cleared enough to start. The next two days the weather was perfect - amazing for February. The first day a crew of three worked nine hours to have the roof cleared and sealed for the night. Their prep work was better than expected. They had thick plastic sheeting on the ground and plywood up against the garage doors to protect them from anything that might bounce against them. After removing the two skylights they immediately covered the openings. At night they replaced the skylights over the temporary covers. The next day the crew was down to two. They worked for six solid hours to lay the shingles and clean up the area before taking a break. I'm sure they wanted to get the job done before any unexpected rain showers. On both days they did a great job of cleaning both the roof and ground areas. On the workmanship side of the project they were careful and exact. They replaced, sealed, and painted all the plumbing vents and gas furnace chimney. The roof looks great too. Their salesperson Dave was very knowledgeable and transparent. He took care to outline the pros and cons of repair vs replacement and made sure didn't feel rushed into any decision. This company has been around a long time, and it's apparent they take the long view with maintaining client trust. Cornerstone offered a variety of roof shingles from different leading companies, which is something not every roof company does. This company came recommended by a friend. Dave was also one of the few salespeople we met who willingly climbed on the roof and into the attic to gauge the work. He recommended a molding company to fix an attic issue, and we're glad that was discovered and handled. Since they're a popular company, we had to wait a month or so for the work which was acceptable to us, and in the meantime they tarped parts of the roof where there was a leak. Craig led the installation of the new roof. Due to icy January conditions, a small area of material got wet and they immediately replaced it to give us peace of mind. We had a leak in our roof and called the day after Christmas. Honestly, we didn't have high expectations as it's difficult to find someone to do a roof repair as most companies aren't interested in small jobs, and it being a holiday week we expected to have a difficult time finding someone. However, less than an hour after we called a person showed up (sorry I don't remember his name ) and assessed the situation. He said he would return around 2:00 to attempt to fix the leak as it was forecasted to stop raining at that time. Well, at 1:50 he showed up and got right to work. Again, they were the only company who looked inside our crawl space of the roof to warn us of potential issues and maybe extra expense. Thankfully there was none. Dave the estimator, was not pushy and took time to educate us. They have done at least 8 houses in our street and all neighbors gave them high praises. This was my final decision breaker. They did warn me that often when they take off a roof there might be some boarding that is water damaged, but they would not know until they took off the roof. They bought 5 pieces of plywood just in case, to the job site on the day. The extra cost for that was minimal, and we did not have the job held up while they searched for hardware stores. You know it's time for a new roof when you have to scoop a half inch of asphaltic shingle grit, coming off your 20+ year old roof, out of your gutters every year. I dread getting estimates for any kind of house repairs. But talking with James when he came out to do the estimate was really helpful. I am a WA licensed home inspector. I am not a great fan of roofing contractors because of the amount of poor workmanship and inferior/unsuitable materials I consistently find on inspections. Then I had the privilege of inspecting Cornerstone Roofing's work on a Shoreline condo. I haven't seen that commitment to quality since 2018. It is for this reason that I write this review. We also had a smooth time using their financing partner. The real customer service came when we had a potential issue. We had some water leaking from the heavy rain and wasn't sure if it was from the roof vent. Mike Little connected us with one of their techs, Sonny. They came out, found the source of the problem, and fixed it. Not only did they fix the one that had the issue, they looked at our other vents and did maintenance on those as well.
