I ended up getting the honey fried chicken and my husband got the jerk chicken. He loved the jerk chicken. The fried chicken was just okay to me, but it also didn't seem fresh, so I'd be willing to try it again on a regular day and see if it's better fresh. Now the sides? They were SO good. I'd go back for the mac and cheese alone. The yams and greens were top tier too. The service was great. The lady serving everyone was so nice and had the best energy. Place is packed. Wanted a small oxtail plate as the menu advertises a small and large option, only to be told they no longer offer a small option. Only large. K. Maybe update the menu. Pivoted to the whole fried snapper. Was told about 8 minutes on the snapper. 15 minutes later, Im still waiting. They fix all your sides and then wait on the protein if it's not something that's pre-cooked. So my sides (mac & cheese/collards) were sitting for about 20 minutes before my snapper was cooked. The young lady at the register reassured me that the food is kept under a warmer in the kitchen while waiting on a protein. The warmer must be broken because it was lukewarm. As anticipated after sitting for 20+ minutes. A young lady that ordered about 4-5 people behind me got fried whole catfish. They were able to fry her catfish before my snapper. As someone that cooks Im not quite sure on the difference in cook/prep but here we are. She's out the door with her catfish. And Im STILL waiting on my snapper. 25 minutes and counting. This is based on the new location on Florida Avenue The aesthetics here is nice they did a good job on the decor. I happened to be in the area tonight and stopped in to sit at the bar. The dress code was not enforced but that's the least bit of their concern. It was grand opening night so I want to give them grace but I ordered food still 5:36 to be exact by 7:26 nothing came. I ordered the Thai wings. For dinner I ordered the smothered turkey wings and again 2 hours later no food. They should've stopped the menu at some point. Kate the bartender was good but she could only do so much. Parking is packed so you have to valet. Valet does not take card so have cash or Apple Pay them. I ended up ordering a bottle of water and I had two drinks. Drinks were paid by another patron. So all in all I left this place having paid 21 dollars for essentially Saratoga water (7 dollars for the bottle and 15-10 dollars with 5 dollar tip). I recently visited Tampa and saw a review for this restaurant. There are two locations, one is a sit down type of restaurant and the other one is an express to go style restaurant with a few seats. Let's start with the things that I love. I love the fact that this business seems to be fully supported by the community, and they take pride in the work that they do. The presentation of the food looked appealing ,and there were several other options available to choose from. The staff was overall friendly, and that made the time waiting for the food a little bit more palatable. Now, let me get to the things that I wasn't necessarily thrilled about. This is a smaller establishment so, there is not a lot of room for their patrons to sit while they wait. I waited around an hour from start to finish in order to get my food. You do have the option to order Uber eats which seems to be quicker however, being a newbie to this restaurant I wasn't privy to that information until I left. I got four meals which included one honey fried chicken with dirty rice, yams, and macaroni and cheese. I got three shrimp meals which included rice, yams, and macaroni and cheese. I also purchased a side of collard greens and a side of shrimp. I believe we spent $75 for the total of three meals and a side of shrimp. I know that prices are Inflated due to tariffs and things going on with economy but , I thought this was a little expensive for the items that we were being served. I know everyone has their own preference, but I really felt like the chicken wings were way too big. They were also some in the container with feathers which leads me to leave that the chicken was not clean. Most restaurants will serve cornbread with your meals, however this was an extra fee of two three dollars. The food was overall OK, but it was not worth the price in my opinion. I do know they have a large following which I'm happy for because I know it's hard to be a small business. I just felt like everything was really over inflated for the price and the items that we were being served. If you want flavorful, well seasoned food then head here! I enjoy their Turkey wings, collard greens & Mac & cheese. Don't forget their amazing cornbread. They feature a brunch once a month as well as a full Haitian menu in January. The place usually gets packed so go early. There is inside seating available but table selections are few. The wait times can get extremely long and sometimes it feels like the line could move faster if they had a better process with taking walk up orders. The beef patties are even made from scratch. The best I've had. The one area for improvement is the Jerk Chicken. The line was to the door, but the wait wasn't too long. The staff were so kind. The owner made you feel right at home. She even noticed we were sitting outside, came to check on us, and brought us water. They have some searing inside, as well as two tables outside. The food is fresh, and they fill your box to the top. You literally have at least 2 meals in one. We had the oxtails and turkey wings as our entree, which were tender and tasty. The gravy for the turkey wings was delicious and nothing like I've had before. The cheese pull in the macaroni was perfect. The collard greens and yams were also very flavorful. I ended up getting a few pieces of chicken and cornbread. It just looked too good to pass up. The chicken (not pictured) was fried perfectly and the hot honey sauce was great. It's always busy so that is a good thing to do. I've had their jerk chicken meal and the lemon pepper shrimp. Both delicious and they give you a lot of food. My only issue here is how long it takes to get certain items. So I love the lemon pepper shrimp but they make that to order and it takes a long time. Like sometimes people behind me would get their food they had to get made separate before me. I wish they could improve that. So if you are in a hurry this might not be a spot for you. Come when you have the time to wait if you are getting items that they have to make to order. Also with online orders, they are doing that tandem with in person.
