Recently I went to island ink for an idea I had for a tattoo. John was great, he had a drawing rendered quickly and gave me the quote by phone. On the day of the work he took his time and made sure everything was perfect. My time ran much longer than the quote but he didn't care as he was enjoying doing the piece. Even though the session went over the time he quoted, he didn't charge me any extra and said it was his pleasure to perform the work. He quoted me $450 and the time would have been at least $600 in ink. Because he was a stand up guy and stuck to his quote I felt compelled to show my gratitude by tipping him an extra $100 because the work was great! I already have him working on a new piece that will be part of a full chest piece. He gave me a quote already and started on the drawing. While there he will touch up some ink that fell out on the last one. Can't wait to have him finish the entire piece. He is a master of the art of tattooing. I was a walk-in and the shop was very busy, but john worked me in anyway and was very patient with all of my questions. The tattoo I selected was pretty detailed and unusual in design. First of all, as someone who is super awkward, tattoo shops are usually not fun for me. Almost every shop I've gone into, the people working there have some kind of attitude like they're better than you or something and it's just uncomfortable. That being said, I walked into Island Ink yesterday with my cousin who needed to get a stuck helix piercing out of her cartilage. The piercer was instantly so friendly and welcoming and we felt at home. Not only did she take amazing care of my cousin's super botched piercing, but she made sure to do everything possible to make sure she was comfortable. And she was SO FRIENDLY the entire time. I wish more people in the industry would have the attitude she did. She really went above and beyond for us. I see no reason to ever go to any other shop in town for a piercing ever again, because I was so impressed with Madam Ink's work as well as her welcoming personality. My family and I wanted to get a simple matching tattoo all together and my mom got in contact with an artist named John whom everyone seems to rave about on here, and she sent him photos of the idea of what we wanted BEFOREHAND days maybe even a week in advance to make sure it could be done. He said he could and so we made an appt. when we arrived it was unprofessional right off the bat it's like going into a cluttered house.. We were all SO excited to finally get our meaningful matching tattoo and then he completely crushed our spirits when he was EXTREMELY RUDE to my very kind mom and my siblings and I. He was so rude to us that I wanted to punch him in the face. He was legitimately upset that we wanted to tweak the photo my mom sent him and gave us major attitude freaking rolling his eyes and telling my mom in the rudest tone multiple times what she "should have done" before coming in. He made us feel like our idea was trash and kept giving us stank face. I was sitting there shocked at how he was treating us. My mom did more than most people getting a simple freaking cross tattoo... he was incredibly mean to us and we decided to leave. If I could give this place negative stars I obviously would.
