We had a wedding in Honolulu and wanted to bring our baby girl to the trip as well since she hasn't been, but the wedding is kid-friendly so we had to find a sitter to watch her for one day. We were referred to Maliny from a mom travel group and ended up booking with her. At first, we were very worried because our baby had never been left with a non family member, especially in a new environment. We weren't sure how she would acted being with someone new and in a new place but Maliny reassured us she had a lot of experiences dealing with kids. I had set to vacation in Oahu for one week during March 2022, and the hubby and I really wanted one day for grownup time. I had mixed feelings about working with a sitter while away from home, especially during covid. Maliny made me feel at ease. She was responsive and clear, provided a copy of her vaccination card. The other reviews about Island Kid Sitters were all so positive so I thought we should give it a try. Maliny watched my two boys (ages 6 and 2) for 6 hours. She arrived at our hotel room and we chatted for about 5-10 mins before we left. I was especially nervous about my 2 yo, since this was his first experience with a sitter outside of home. Maliny texted me and kept me updated. She swam with the kids in the hotel pool, bathed them, and fed them dinner in the hotel room. When we got back and said our goodbyes, my 2 yo ran to give her hugs on her way out! The kids told me they really liked Maliny. It was the best thing we did for ourselves and Maliny put us at ease. Our only regret was not scheduling more sitter time during the week! There are other larger sitter services on Oahu, ones that may have been around longer. We decided to go with Island Kid Sitters because we did not want a "large operation" feel. Child sitting is personal, and while the other companies may offer good services as well, Maliny gave me the attention that I needed as a first timer with vacation sitters. We spent spring break in Ko'Olina earlier this month and while Hawaii with the family sounds like it should be amazing, it really, really wasn't :) :) We traveled with our 20-month old, 10-, 13-, and 15-year olds plus my mom who isn't the kind of grandparent that helps with the kids. Traveling w so many personalities is hard and stressful, even in paradise. It started with our youngest staying awake the entire 5.5 hour flight there and we reached our breaking point half way through the week so I started researching sitters. Maleny was the most responsive of the ones we reached out to and we originally planned for four hours a day but ended up requesting eight hours a day for our last few days. Having Maleny and Nicole help with the toddler made a HUUUGGEEE difference and I actually started to enjoy vacation a little bit. We went from 'never, ever again' to 'maybe if Maleny or Nicole is available next time'. Our toddler is very much in stranger danger mode and won't typically go to anyone other than me and my husband but Maleny and Nicole won him over and he let them hold him and even reached out to be carried, which is unheard of. We love Miss Maliny!!! We came to Oahu for our kids' spring break and to go to my best friend's wedding. My husband and I needed a babysitter to watch the kids so I contacted Maliny thanks to the great reviews on Yelp. From the first email she was very responsive and covered all information needed. I decided to book her for two days/nights. The first night was for a couple of hours so that we can meet her and have our kids warm up to her while my husband and I went out to dinner. But to my surprise there was none even though I had confirmed and called ahead. Well after a search that my cousin did, we came across this lovely establishment. Even though it was last minute, the owner did not let me down. She came on time, which was usually early(very), and stayed for as long as needed.
