We figured, let's do it in style! It was just us 2. We had a blast. No off roading of course and it only goes to 30 mph but what a cool way to check out Washington Island. We ended up with a four seater. We arrived early to our 11 AM reservation and they were kind enough to have us out 15 min early for our 2 hour rental! Sweet! They provided a map for a suggested route and we decided to follow it for the most part. All the roads are so rustic during October so you really can't go wrong and if you get lost, good thing is the island is only 36 square miles in diameter! You won't be lost for long. The customer service was friendly, informative and gave out great recommendations. They were prompt and our ride was clean/well maintained! I would use them again for sure if I come back to the island. Once you get off ferry, it straight ahead on the left- very easy to find. You could even walk there from the ferry if you aren't bringing your own vehicle on the island. They have a phone number to call and reserve your choice of "adventure" or they have a website.

The folks working here have always been super friendly towards us. I've been riding motorcycles for years so I was set to go, but my s/o had never ridden before our first W.I. visit, so the woman who is usually here (owner?) gave her a quick lesson. I went through the lesson too to be supportive. After that we were off and had a blast. We had the mopeds for the whole day and really rode everywhere on the island of note, visited lavender farms, the stave church, Nelsen's Hall, the northern dockyard which has a little museum with history of the island's fishing industry (you can also catch another ferry during certain months to another smaller island to the north that is a nature preserve... we haven't done that yet). Second trip was basically the same except we already knew how to ride, so the little riding test went by more quickly. The same woman from last time was here and was sweet as usual. The mopeds are basic Yamaha 50cc machines that pretty much anyone should be able to operate comfortably. They will get you around at a decent pace, but don't have enough power to get away from you and there's no shifting to worry about. Take care of the mopeds and you'll be just fine when you return. They have a pretty good number of them there, so we've never had an issue with renting. They also rent bicycles.

So if you want to rent a moped then you need to show up alone and not have family/friends with you on the island or everyone in the party has to rent a vehicle. The lady at the register seemed somewhat nice but I don't know if that was the actual reason for being turned away. Her story seemed to be jumping around quite a bit and did not make much sense. I don't know if she was telling the truth or if there was some other reason for being turned away...

The location is excellent as it is walking distance from the downtown bars and restaurants. We had the charcuterie board upon our arrival prepared by the host. We also had wonderful conversation with the other guests. Our breakfast the next morning was delicious.

As for the Chef's Table experience, it's hard to know where to start. Chef Joshua Curtis is charming and approachable without ever dominating - so full of culinary insights and clear descriptions of flavors. He prepared a six course meal just for us. We were extra challenging diners as one of us is vegetarian and the other is not. He accomodated us both seamlessly. Our courses were similar in flavor combinations, just slightly altered so as to incorporate either meat or non-meat options. The man is truly an artist. He guided us through the entire dining adventure with his expertise and his warmth. Each plated dish was unique, satisfying, and beautifully presented. We have been lucky enough to travel to some pretty cool places over the years and dine in some pretty special restaurants. We honestly are having trouble thinking of an evening out that was as special as our evening at The Blue Mystique Inn.
