This was SO fun! We rented 6 bikes and 2 child carriers that attached to the bikes. Our ages ranged from 71 down to nine! We rode the bikes from Traverse City to Sutton's Bay for the day. I had a really lovely and easy experience with Riding Electric. They were very responsive to my communication and very friendly to deal with. The Leelanau Trail was inches away from the shop which was incredibly convenient. The trail is a delightful mix of shade and sun, and very well maintained. The bike was in good shape and pretty fun to ride. My only complaints are the weight of the bike and no easily accessible water bottle holder. The heft of the bike made taking off a little bit of a challenge. So when trying to cross one of the many roads that bisect the trail it was a little stressful trying to get myself moving quickly. The bike did have a large saddle bag that held my water bottle and could have held a book, bathing suit, lunch, etc if I had been riding to the Suttons Bay beach (which is what I'll do next time!). read more

Easy to reserve and complete waivers online. Mathew was great greeting us, instructing us on bike use and at the end we parked our bikes and left. This was my first time in the area and riding an e-bike. I was grateful to have the power boost, especially on our way back from Suttons Bay when my legs were tired. The trail was beautiful to ride. We chose Riding Electric because of its location right on the bike trail. Their reservation process and communication were spot on and the place was super easy to find. Upon our arrival, we were met by their staff and immediately trained on the bikes. They were thorough and really friendly. The bikes we got were clean. Tires, brakes, and lights - all good too! The trail is 15 seconds from the bike pickup! We had our Lab Molly with us and rented a cart for her to tag along. Molly's 60lbs and the cart just fit her in it. If your dog weighs much more, I'd suggest not bringing them for the ride. The bike pulled the cart with NO problem at all, it's just that it's made for a couple of little kids and Molly wanted to get up a few times and stretch. Don't get me wrong, I'd retake her! Our trip took us up Leelanau county with as much peddling effort as we wanted and we had a BLAST. There were a bunch of bikers but no issues passing or getting passed. Everyone on the trail used hand signals or their bike bell to bring awareness of upcoming passing or things. Our trip could not have been better. I recommend Riding Electric to anyone. Jay read more

The bikes were always in great condition, the staff is both friendly and extremely helpful, and your really can't beat the location -it's perfect for riding the Tart Trail. Great service. We were met by a gentleman as soon as we pulled in. He had bikes ready for us along with bottled water for the ride. We were on the trail biking within 10 minutes of arriving at the shop These bikes were the most comfortable ebikes we've ever ridden. With my husband having had 2 rotator cuff surges and 5 knee surgeries (by 45) we were starting to think days of long bike rides were in our past but these worked out so well. We could use the throttle and not pedaling at all to having bike/battery turned off and doing all the work ourselves. Stopped for breakfast at 45th Parallel, Mawby Winery, The Farm, etc. I would highly recommend. read more

We had a great experience with Riding Electric. We highly recommend them. They were very accommodating regarding pickup/ return times. We were able to keep the ebikes the entire day, returning keys after hours to a lockbox/ secure area. The ebikes were great quality/condition, and they supplied us with a spare battery. My wife and I rode their ebikes from the Cherry Bend location up to Suttons Bay and back along the Leelanau Trail, stopping at a few wineries along the way. It was a fantastic day (we stretched it to about 5 hrs total) even though it was chilly. We are experienced bike riders but had never done ebikes before. The ones here were simple to understand and make the most of it. Just one gear when pedaling. Never felt the bike was difficult to maneuver while riding, either on the trail, in town, or when parking. They were decked out with big saddle bags, lock, helmets, and easy to understand controls. Quite comfortable. We did a lot of pedaling on the way north, but coming back mostly were using the e-assist. The trail is very smooth but the bikes also handled well during the times we were on roads. Made the reservation online and got help with George (I think?) day we went out. He was very pleasant and super helpful in getting us used to the bikes and feeling confident about our ride. Also gave tips about places to go. If you like to be outside, exploring, and feeling riding- this is a great activity to try. All the fun of a bike ride, with greater capacity for distance and speed. read more
