We did a private sail. Our captain Marley was wonderful. Very low wind so the inland sea was calm. There was a bathroom on the boat. They had PFDs for all who needed them. We got to sit on the bow and watch birds and other boats. 10/10. Would be a wonderful trip for a reunion or anniversary or engagement! read more

Taking this sailing trip was the best part of our trip to Sister's Bay/Door County. The trip starts on time with an introduction to the boat, safety and the crew - Captain John and Mate Isabelle. This is a 2 hour cruise and a lot of information is shared about the history of the Edith Becker and the local waterways. Captain John loves what he does and it shows by how much he involves his guests with the sail. We were offered the chance to raise the sails and even take pictures at the wheel. I deal with chronic pain and have somewhat limited mobility--so, going out on a sailboat was a great way for me to be active in a way, and really get in nature. The crew were so helpful, reassuring, and funny. I even requested some music and they put it on the bluetooth speaker just for me. It was our honeymoon, and we ended up sitting to two folks also celebrating! We'd gotten married on the same day, it turned out. We met because the first mate invited volunteers to raise the mast/sail...i don't know all the terminology, but she made it easy! she just said PULL! :) Such a great time, and the sunset on the water was of course beautiful. I highly recommend the sunset sail trip, and it did get bumpy but I'm an anxious person with body pain and I was really fine and delighted the whole time so I think it's fun for everyone. read more

We can't say enough about the Sail Door County crew and our two trips on the Edith Becker! We were up in June and did a Saturday afternoon cruise with Kristy, Kevin, and Kate - we had the BEST time! We even had an acoustic singer aboard which made for such a great atmosphere. We sailed around Sister Bay and enjoyed the gorgeous weather while chatting with the other passengers and the crew. Everyone is so fun and personable and we genuinely enjoyed getting to know them. This time, we did the Saturday morning lighthouse tour, which involves sailing and motoring to a lighthouse further south on the peninsula so we really got out into open water. We traded Kevin for Will, who provided a really entertaining look into the ship's history. Kate did a great job talking about all the islands in Green Bay and Kristy shared the history of the lighthouse. We caught some great wind and had an amazing sail! Did we mention it's BYO and the boat is so spacious and comfortable? We will absolutely be on board the next time we're in Door County! We love doing the sunset sail! We have ridden the Edith M Becker a handful of times. It seats about 20 people. They also have a smaller sail boat that holds 6 people which would be perfect for a group or family. We take our own food and drink. Pick up a bottle of door country Cider and it has the flip rubber latch on top so you're not spilling on the boat. The staff is very knowledgeable and loves to share the history of the boat. Highly recommend. read more

We did the sunset sailboat cruise and it was AWESOME! It didn't hurt that we had perfect weather. But what really made it perfect was our captain Clayton and his first mate Harry. They were fantastic. Clayton is an expert skipper. His nautical knowledge made us all comfortable. Plus he is hilarious. Harry was amazing also. Did the work of many men! The scenery is gorgeous. The sunset was perfect. Captain John of the Edith Becker made what could have been a lovely evening a huge disappointment with his surly attitude and half-baked "sailing". The sailboat is fine. Not exactly well-appointed for anything but sitting in place and watching the sunset. The same view can be seen from the dock - for free! We motored out a very short way off shore. Raised the sails. Bobbed in the water for a bit. Listened to Captain John's canned rendition of the boat's history (recited with lackluster enthusiasm at best, as if he was immensely bored from having repeated it one thousand times before) and then motored back to the dock as soon as Captain John could reasonably call the excursion "done". While waiting for the sun to lower sufficiently so that he could turn back towards shore, Captain John bitterly complained about living in the Caribbean ("Amazon doesn't have one day Prime delivery service") and the "lack of food options" in the islands. He also complained about his current work schedule (7 days in a row, oh my!) Is this appropriate for this sunset sail? The only time Captain John perked up was when we were approaching the dock and he, very clearly, made his request for TIPS heard by one & all. His first mate, Isabella, was lovely though. She deserves a new Captain. read more

Five stars are not enough--My husband and I had such a great time on the Edith M. Becker tall sailing ship boat tour today that we have already put it on our must do list when we return next season to Door County. Captain Kate and Jordan were a great team--skilled sailors, safety oriented, informative, personable, and super great entertainers. We not only enjoyed sailing on a beautiful day, but we also learned so much about sailboats, the history of the Edith M. Becker, and some background and geography of the Door County area. Everyone from the young school age children to the seniors on the ship had a truly fun time. We especially appreciated the more intimate feel with the limited number of passenger's onboard. We took the Passage North on a sunny August afternoon, two seniors and a four year old. Our Captain, Teddy, was so friendly and accommodating, helping us aboard and giving our little a blanket and encouragement when he was unsure about the whole thing. Within minutes, he had his sea legs! Teddy pointed out historic areas on our tour, and provided plenty of facts about Door County, and recommended some different restaurants and attractions not to miss. Our sail was relaxing, and fun when a passing boat drenched us! Lasting not quite two hours, we enjoyed it immensely! At $45 for adults and free for our little guy, this wonderful experience was well worth it, and we'll sail with them again next year! read more

We had a great time sailing one beautiful afternoon on Green Bay. The captain (& owner of the boat) has lovingly restored a Cal 40 Sloop - beautiful. When the wind catches the sails and the boat tilts to the side it's great! We left the Sister Bay Marina and headed out. The captain took the boat out into a windier area; that's where we sped up (I can't remember how many knots); the boat would creak with the strain. The captain is a pleasant conversationalist. He saw that we were interested in photographing some sea caves on the bluffs near Ephriam. He took us closer. I could see some cumulus clouds to the north. The captain did check the weather a number of times and did alter his course because of his concerns. I liked the fact that he was safety conscious. When we were done he recommended some restaurants. The one we chose was excellent! Cost: $45/person. Well worth the money. read more

We took the boat out pretty far to get some wind and during the end we finally seemed to find it! It was a wonderful experience. Gwen was a great host and very informative. Took the morning tour on Saturday August 10th. John and Kristie were great sailors. Very informative and shared their love of sailing. Weather was great so that was a plus but I think it would have been great no matter what. They were great about getting people involved and feeling comfortable about the trip. Loved hearing about the history of the boat. Loved most the quietness of sailing and was happy we had enough wind to allow it. Took a sail here in the fall and saw the beautiful fall colors. The captain was great and they lit off a small cannon that was a fun experience. Lots of great stories and knowledge about the area. My husband and I went on a sunset cruise on September 18. Everything was amazing. The website is super easy to use to book. I made a mistake when I originally scheduled our cruise, called and asked that it be moved. I was called right back and told it wouldn't be a problem. I got a follow up email confirming the change. My husband needed some extra help getting on and off of the boat, and was more than accommodated. I can't even begin to express just how happy we were with this experience!!! read more

This was such a neat experience! My friend and I went on the sunset sail and it was gorgeous. We chose the larger of the two boats and it would be perfect if you had a group looking to bring some drinks and food on while enjoying the scenery. The Captain and First Mate were so personable and really made an effort to include and check in with everyone on board. We had perfect weather. We packed some food and drinks but after boarding decided to go with their all you can drink deal. We enjoyed mimosas and sangrias. It was such a beautiful and relaxing sail.
