We came to Island Tire on a recent Friday afternoon with a tire leak -- probably only needing a patch. We were desperate. They were very busy. They took us on, juggling their schedule to help. As we sat in the waiting area, they were kind, generous and helpful to everyone who came in. In the end, they charged us only $40. We left feeling great about them and our repaired tire. HUGE SHOUT OUT to Island Tire Auto Center in Vineyard Haven who fixed my slow leak on my tire in under than 30 minutes and for only $35! I wasn't sure what was causing the leak and was expecting to have to wait hours for a resolution. When I arrived at 7:45 am today there were already 5 other people in line with similar to worse tire issues. All were equally happy and impressed with the speed and attention they received. never again will i bring it there. Dropped my car off called later told me three weeks til they can even look at it. I did not have a appointment. Your vehicle does not make a appointment when it thinks it will break. Where we come from if you can not fix it that day you tell the customer. You do not wait til they call you to they cannot fix it that day. He took a attitude with me and told me i can come pick up my truck. My brake pads went out on my drive to the MV ferry and after stopping at several other places on the island who didn't have any appointments for 2 weeks, I stopped in here. Andy checked to see if they had the parts and once confirmed he said they'd try to take a look that day or as soon as they could. He called the next morning at 730am and it was done. I was so thankful to have it done as the car was not driveable back to where I live (8 hour drive). What a great on-island mechanic! Each employee takes the time to be friendly and courteous without the scheming that some mechanics lay into you like, "oh, if you don't replace this soon, YOU'LL DIE!". Not here, they're factual and friendly and care about quality. I got an oil change done and while I was only expecting to get my gunked up oil replaced they also took the time to fill the tires with air, replace any low fluids, and clean the windows for me! What a great service. Definitely recommend. Also, just as a side note, but important none the less, their facility is super clean. I was so impressed by the cleanliness! read more

Melissa is amazingly patient with ditzy or self-centered summer people showing up and demanding their crappy neglected Island cars be fixed immediately, even when Island Tire has all its appointments booked 3 weeks out. These guys are great! I developed a flat tire on my BMW x-3 and was told that I would probably have to replace the entire tire. They just didn't want my business. I rolled my 18 year old island car to Island Tire this morning. I had picked up 2 new tires last week off island because my fronts were near gone. It wasn't busy and everyone was nice when I said I needed 2 tires mounted. 'Sure. Let's see what we can do'. The tire tech comes out and looks in my back seat where my new ones are. 'Oh, sorry. My boss won't let me mount new tires that we didn't sell.' Are you serious? Really? He's still nice about it and recommends I go to another island shop -- that I know and have been to for other things. I was stunned. Two guys idle, the bays were empty at 11 am and they just didn't want to mount my tires and take my money. I grew up on the island. I can understand people need to make a living.
