I was traveling from out of town for the Falmouth Road Race- when suddenly my trunk would not close and my battery light came on and the radio would not turn on. This was on a Friday at 2:30pm. The guys fixed all of problems within an hour and I was ready to get back on the road. It turns out I needed a new alternator. These guys were lifesavers- I don't know what I would have done if they could not fix it in the friendly, efficient manner in which they did. I cant recommend these guys enough - plus they have a great dog in the waiting room. read more

They saved me! My car dashboard lights went on and it just went down from there. Was trying to get there as they squeezed me in. Car literally stopped working had to be towed in right before they closed. Took my history, called me throughout the day the next day and was able to not only find a hard to find part but got my car fixed. Oh and this was all on a Friday in August!! Very grateful read more

We were traveling through Falmouth from the Vineyard to New York City when our brakes began having issues. It was already later in the day and luckily we found Battles and, after reviewing their great website and checking their great reviews and threw ourselves upon their mercy to help us. We were so lucky to work with Megan, who was so kind, informed and helpful. Our brakes lines needed replacing, as well as some other repairs, and although they were extremely booked up they were able to fit us in a repair our car so were able to get on the road again the next day. The technician who worked on our car had more than 35 years of service and all in all we felt we were in enormously professional and capable hands. I have gone to Battles several times for car inspections, but this time I needed diagnosis and repair. Greg found out why the warning light was on (a dirty sensor) but he also noticed that one of my tires was delaminating and told me it was dangerous to drive. I was so pleasantly surprised by Battles. I had experienced some issues with my battery, but it had been running well recently. Greg could have easily told me that I absolutely needed my battery replaced, but instead he offered a battery/alternator check first, to see if a new battery was, in fact, needed. He gave me a full report by phone, saying that the battery was low-ish, that it wasn't urgent, but probably a new battery would be needed in the near term. He also listened to a lot of detail about something another shop (not in the area) had told me, provided a much clearer sense of what that issue was, and then confirmed what the issue was and confirmed that only a licensed dealer could do the repair. I was just so pleased, start to finish! (Ps - for work while you wait, there's a spacious waiting room with WiFi. Also, it's ~1/4 mile from downtown Falmouth, with restaurants, shops, galleries, etc.) A++ read more

Battles Auto Center in Falmouth is absolutely first rate!! My truck decided to suddenly make a horrendous metal on metal screeching sound during the 4th of July holiday weekend. I was in Falmouth on vacation and of course did not know any mechanics here. I called Battle because I always notice a lot of nice cars there so I figured that people around town trusted them. They answered the phone quickly and were friendly, fast, honest, clean and very professional. They called me right after AAA dropped my truck off and gave me the good news that a rock was stuck in the brakes! I am telling you, the noise was BAD!!! I will gladly use Battles in the future for my truck maintenance when i am here during the summer. read more

Battles was great to work with my aging Yukon is not something I want to dump a ton of money into it and Greg the Service advisor understood that. We talked for over 20 min on different options that made the most sense on the repair. When he realized that they may need to truck overnight they have me a loaner to use for the evening, not many shops will give a loaner anymore. The price we came up with was very reasonable and to my surprise when I went to pick it up it was almost $100 cheaper then originally planned. That is true honesty you don't always get many places. I would highly recommend this shop to anyone in the area. read more

Was in town for the holidays from Boston and desperately needed an oil change. Came across these guys at battles auto center after calling around and getting prices, they quoted me the lowest price. When I got there, the owner apologized for telling me he gave me the wrong price over the phone and it was going to actually be more expensive than he thought, as my car requires the more expensive oil than your average sedan. However, he gave me the oil change at the original price he quoted me over the phone, which was about $60 less than a shop would normally charge for a bmw. The owner was so kind and definitely didn't have to do this but he went out of his way to make sure I was satisfied being a first time customer. This is just about the best customer service you can get today, complete transparency and efficiency. They were amazing and I highly recommend a local mom and pop like this over any other business. read more

Amazing customer care! I commute from Martha's Vineyard to Hyannis weekly. Recently I was driving to Palmer Ave parking lot and a great cloud of white smoke came out of the rear of the car. Never a good sign, right? Once parked at Palmer I opened the hood and saw what looked like oil seeping out of the head/engine block area. Oh boy, a blown headgasket I thought. That's like a grand easily, maybe lot's more. Called Battles when I got back to the Vineyard. Check it out -- they went over to the Palmer Ave lot, pick up my car, brought it to their shop and asked if I wanted to do a $99 diagnosis (I did). A day later later they let me know the problem was not a blown headgasket but just some blown coolant hoses, simple and inexpensive repair. Gave them the go-ahead to do the repair. A couple days later the car is done and they offer to drive it back to Palmer and we settled up by credit card over the phone. Greg Battles, Lorina and David are ALL super pleasant to talk to. You know how when you call a "normal" garage and the guy sort of grunts at you? Well none of that at Battles. My first contact with Battles was with Lorina. When I got of the phone with her I was like "damn, I want to hire her to be my key customer-facing person!" Greg and David are also personable, articulate and caring. Really very helpful and super nice! My car's check-engine light was flashing and the transmission started to slip badly on the way to the ferry on Rt 28. I was right in front of the Falmouth Toyota. I stopped and asked them if they could have a quick look and if it was safe to drive. They refused to even look at the error message becuase I had a Honda. I drove it to Battle's. They could not have been nicer. They looked at it, and becuase it needed a little attention, they gave me a ride to ferry, and then got the car so that I could drive it to the dealer -- it needed a new transmission and I am able to get some credit back from Honda -- but they did;t even try to sell me new transmission. They did what was best for me, the customer. So honest. I highly recommend Battle's to anyone in the Falmouth area or Martha's Vineyard. It is worth taking the car across to get serviced. read more
