On June 30 I had an appointment at Island trend with Romeo. The salon had just reopened during COVID. I was there for my platinum color which he has done twice since I have lived in the state of Florida. Needless to say it was the worst experience of my entire life. Whenever I get colored at Island trend my scalp is always greased before the chemicals are applied. There was no preparation however the assistant did tell me that I had balding spots at the top of my head and took a picture so that I could see it. At that time she should have recommended that I not color my hair but she did not. The chemicals started to burn immediately and I did mention to her that it started to burn I sat there for 45 minutes burning. Getting the color platinum is a very long process if done properly it can take up to 3 to 4 hours I know because I've had it several times. However this time was different to make a long story short I left there with scabs on my scalp and had to cut off all my hair because it was burnt. I did notify the owner to let him know that I had scabs in my head and his reply was to give him a call. I will not be going back to Island trend. When you have someone in your chair Mr. Romeo give them your undivided attention stop talking to people while working on the clients. To this day September 9 I still have not heard from Mr. Romeo. The wait is always long the color is good but what's the purpose of having an appointment if you still have to wait. Be prepared to wait and watch a movie! read more

Ok, once you get passed the 1 hour wait. You will be in bliss when you finally get a chance in ROMEO'S chair. Seriously, this guy (who isn't gay) is an Artist. PS. Found this salon through word of mouth. I had been looking for a new stylist and decided to give them a try. I went in for a cut. The salon is very clean. Everyone greeted me when I came thru the door. Before long I was in Romeo's chair. I was very, very happy with the final outcome. I had a great time and have found my new permanent stylist. Romeo and his team are amazing. Excellent customer service and the amount of services provided for the cost is unrivaled. Clean products and professional people. This will be and always be my hair dresser here in South Florida. Precise and fast with his hands. I feel like a queen when I get out of the chair. I am very picky with my hair and believe me this man has some skills that are on another level. I'm not sure what kind of experience the previous poster had but since I go to the salon almost every week, I can tell anyone that Romeo is an honest business person. He would never add in his own tip. In fact he NEVER expects a tip. I always give a tip because of the ladies and the gentleman that do the preliminary work. I pay the published prices that are on styleseat. Theres no secret pricing. He wont cut your hair if you dont want it cut. Period and simple as that. Bottom line is dont come to a quality hairdresser (or hair artist as I would describe him) expecting flea market pricing. read more

Zero star review! The owner is named Romeo and this guy is simply a scam artist. My wife went in for a wash and style (she has short hair) for 75$. They originally discussed this over the phone. When she went to her appointment he did a wash, cut, and style and then charged 86.50. She never wanted a cut additionally as her hair was at the shortened length she wanted but he lowered it and charged her anyway. You have to fill out a form before hand stating what you wanted done and she wrote wash in style but this turd went the extra mile and charged her for a cut too. Not wanting to cause a scene she paid and left, calling and texting him stating her dissatisfaction since the style was gone within 2 days. He claimed he charged her the advertised 75.00 and said she told him, "you said to tip myself," when she did not. She had the receipt and didn't write anything in and sure as hell did not tip. I'm writing this to let the rest of you ladies know the type of hair stylist this turd is; Romeo is his name. He does a decent job but if you don't respect your customers enough to rectify the situation, as in full refund or do her hair for free, instead he offered 6.00, then he is best worth avoiding! There are better hair stylists out there, just because he is a man doesn't mean he is better than say a 'woman.' Just avoid him all together and find some one better, preferably someone who doesn't tip them selves then talk back to you, my wife is spreading the word about this scam artist bird brain. read more
