The pricing is a bit on the expensive side, but I don't mind spending the amount as my cat is my baby. If you're looking for quality veterinary care at a fair price, definitely come here! When I rescued my cat Ollie, I wasn't sure what exactly to do since I've never had a cat before. When I was looking for a vet, I wanted to make sure that he'd be in the best hands. After a bit of research, I chose Island Veterinary Group and called to make an appointment. They were able to fit me in within the week and he got the comprehensive care that he needed. It is by appointment only and they will let you check-in curbside. It's way better than sitting in a waiting area with others pets. The waiting area that they do have has complimentary coffee and teas. They are still really covid safe which is another plus. Everyone here treated us warmly and kindly. It definitely put me and Ollie at ease. Dr. Martin and vet tech Angelina were fantastic at treating Ollie and also explaining to me what all the tests were for and what to expect in follow up appointments. They even gave Ollie a toy for being so good at his first vet visit. Unfortunately, we moved from the area so we can't continue to go here. It'd be hard to find a comparable vet. I have a 2 year old Pom that I had been bringing to North Shore Animal League (NSAL) for his annual vaccines (affordable pricing) but they were backed up with their appointments and wouldn't be able to see him until February-ish when I called end of December. His were due January every year but this year they didn't email any reminders (maybe something to do with Covid) so by the time I called to double check if he was due for them, it was cutting it too close to the deadline and I wanted him to get his vaccines somewhat on time. I had also been wanting a regular vet for him so the search began and I found Island Veterinary Group which was actually much closer to where we live! I called them right away and was able to get an appointment for 1/9/2021 1PM (he was due for his vaccines 1/7)! We arrived at the location at 12:40PM, pulled into a numbered spot and called them to let them know we arrived. We were told we were a little early and would most likely be seen closer to our actual appointment time, which was fine. Even though you're in the car, you still have to wear a mask when the staff member comes out to ask questions regarding your pet and to take your pet in. Due to Covid, only staff are allowed inside the building so you wait in your car and after they examine your pet, then they will explain their findings and options over the phone. Once an agreement is reached, a staff member will come out with the bill and you sign it. My dog was brought inside at 1:20PM and examination/assessment took about an hour. Dr. Kaplan herself called me over the phone to discuss the vaccinations and assessment. She was very friendly, caring and patient over the phone. I was actually very surprised how thorough she was (which is excellent!)! When my dog normally gets his heartworm test at NSAL, they just do blood work but here, they ask for a stool sample as well. When I asked about that, they said the stool sample is to test for additional intestinal worms. Dr. Kaplan even gave us suggestions on the food we were giving my dog, something that I never got from any other vet! It was extremely informative and I was grateful for the information. She also gave us more information regarding the vaccines in addition to answering all my questions thoroughly. Everyone I spoke to in person or over the phone were very professional, friendly and caring. Although slightly pricier than NSAL (which I expected), I was very happy with the care and attention that I received regarding my dog! My fiancée and I were adopting a dog, during the adoption process they wanted updated rabies shots for our two cats. We previously took our dog to West Hills Vet which we loved but they don't make house calls. We didn't want to stress our cats by taking them in. So the search began! It was recommended by our previous vet. I called to schedule an appt they were pretty booked so I got an appt in about 5 days. The price was better than I initially thought for an in-home visit. Dr. Martin and her assistant I wish I remembered her name called ahead of time just to let us know they were on the way. They were both fantastic! Really caring with our cats. Everything was priced well. We then scheduled a follow up for their booster shot. A week later the adoption was finalized. Since we loved the care that was provided we scheduled an appt for our dog too. This time it was Dr. Blakely he was great too! He was so patient with our scared pup. She had a few minor issues and required some medications. This bill was pretty pricey but luckily we have health insurance for her. I had a billing issue which was solved quickly. I realized my cats were charged a $65 dollar exam fee each so $130. They had a full physical just 3 wks prior and I was told by Dr. Martin it would just be the cost of the booster shot. After we paid I called the office. I explained the situation and they let me know once we scheduled an appt for our pup that meant a doctor would be sent instead of a technician for the shot. Obviously had I known that I would just kept the appt with the tech and schedule a doctors appt only for my dog. I thought it would've been easier having all three taken care of at the same time. The office immediately understood my point of view and provided a refund of $130 as the cats did not need a full exam. It was great how it was resolved so quickly! Honestly, if it wasn't I would've had to switch vets but thankfully no need! Great service overall. They truly care about their patients here!!!! I highly recommend! read more

As an experienced cat owner who has had to deal with various feline ailments causing me to visit several vets and emergency hospitals over the years, Island Veterinary Group has really impressed me. I found them while searching for a good local vet as my previous vet had moved his practice. And after reading so many reviews, (thank you Yelp!) I was pleasantly surprised to see these guys pop up so highly rated AND with a mobile unit! How did I not know this place existed? Well wonder no more because I have since booked several mobile appointments for two cats, one of which is still being cared for. The other, a six month old kitten had to be put to sleep due to FIP and that was my first meeting with Dr Martin. She was so kind and thoughtful even though she was delivering the worst news every pet owner dreads. And a kitten just made it all the worse. But their special room where you can spend time with your pet before the injection, is very comfortable and conducive to what needs to be done. Thankfully I have since had an appointment with Dr Martin with my other cat, that hasn't ended in such sadness and she and her staff are helping my girl feel as good as possible with palliative care. I love their prompt responsiveness when it comes to medication orders,suggestions for alternative ways to administer difficult meds, prescription food orders and test results. They call when they say they will so you're not freaking out longer than necessary waiting on news. And their prices are fair as well. I appreciate the fact that they taught us how to administer fluids to kitty ourselves so we don't have to pay for repeated visits. I'll attempt to make this as short and to the point as possible but with that being said there's a lot to cover. So firstly we've been using Doctor Martin since she was a vet at another practice before she and Dr.Weiner opened up IVG as i'll call it, so with that we've followed her for about 8 years now, possibly more and there's a reason for our love of this vet, it's their love of animals, what they do, knowledge of their field and compassion and stress free environment. The long and short of it here, is the location is a stand alone new modern and ultra clean facility, the staff are polite, pleasant, easy going and fantastic to deal with. One last thing, Dr. Martin and associates have treated or dog Kiwi for Addisons disease, which is complex and difficult to treat, with that being said our dog literally has a new lease on life and at almost 9 years old (St. Bernard) she's keeping pace with 1 year old puppies at the dog park and ready to play at a moments notice. Our older cat, Lobster, was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and during the pandemic we were easily able to make appointments and have him seen. Throughout the pandemic Island Vet has been offering curbside service, you pull up, call the front desk, and when they are ready they will come for your pet while you stay in your car. Once your pet is done the front desk will call you for payment and bring your pet back out to your car. Alexa at the front desk is always so warm and welcoming and Dr. Wiener cares for our cats as if they were here own. Last year my golden doodle was having trouble walking, and when I brought her to my regular vet, they didn't have time to see her, even on an emergency basis. I had to euthanize my precious 17 year old cat yesterday. I could never have gone through this without the loving care of Dr. Jessica and Angelina. They came to our home and sat on the floor with us around Zac's little bed. They explained everything step by step and assured me my little boy would go over the rainbow bridge painlessly and peacefully. He was put in my lap in our favorite chair. I've seen 3 other vets in the area and none compare to Doctor Angela Martin and staff. Kindness, compassion, and veterinary medical expertise are what you will find here, as well as being reasonable. The doctors are willing to discuss all treatment options with you to decide together the best possible care for your pet. The office is spotless and has separate waiting areas and exam rooms for cats and dogs. My kitty is very frightened of dogs and of office visits in general, and having separate areas that keep her calm is important...it really makes a difference. Both Dr Martin and Dr Blakely informed me of their mobile service in case a time comes where I'm just not able to get my cat to the office. My cat needs a dental exam and cleaning and Dr Martin pointed out to me that the office is having a special on this next month which will help me to save money while at the same time caring for my pet. I thought this was very helpful and thoughtful of her to mention to me. Dr Martin's expertise and passion for her field are apparent on the very first visit. I felt so comfortable and knew I had finally found the right practice for my cat. My most recent visit was with Dr Blakely, because my cat started limping. She was very frightened and Dr Blakely and staff were very kind to her and treated her so gently while working on her. He ordered some tests and called me back personally the next morning, even though it was during the holidays. She's feeling much better and through his good care she's been comfortable and pain free while she heals. The personal service I received from Dr Blakely is top notch. This shows me he is someone who truly has a passion for animals and veterinary science. I do have just one regret....and that is, I WISH I HAD FOUND THIS PRACTICE SOONER! :) A+++++ read more

Today was the 2nd time I used Island Veterinary Group, and I was just as impressed as I was the first time. I'm sure I'm not the only one that has experienced the nightmare of trying to get a stubborn, cranky, and possibly-ill cat to the vet. Getting them in the carrier, trying to comfort them while they cry the whole car ride, and then getting to the vet where you have to sit with them in a waiting room full of other cats and barking dogs for 30 min - an hour. It's a disaster at times; trying to do something good for your pet ends up feeling like you're torturing them. Anyhow, Island Vet Group is a huge solution for me and my cats. I have two cats, so getting them both checked out at once is incredibly convenient. Simply putting them in the bathroom for a couple minutes prior to the vet visit is 1000x easier for me and more comfortable for them then the debacle described above. Both Dr. Wiener and Dr. Martin, as well as their vet tech, are extremely professional, thorough, and undoubtedly great at what they do. They're awesome with my cats. They also answered whatever questions I had both before and during my visits. Being able to make appointments via e-mail is also very cool. One of my cats is cool as a cucumber, but the other one has a history of being very bratty when it comes to going to the vet. He's even had to be sedated just so my last vet could do an exam. Island Vet Group handled him with no problem, and even said he was well-behaved! I definitely encourage you to give these vets a shot, especially for cats. Greatest part about it is it's basically the same price. They only charge a $35 house call fee (even if it's multiple pets), and even discount the additional pets ($20 off the exam fee) if seen at the same time. So it's basically the same price as going to the vet without all the trauma. I should also mention that these vets don't endlessly try to guilt me into getting a thousand different things for my cats that I cannot afford nor need. They also don't do things to my cats without my consent, and then charge me hundreds of dollars for it. It's nice (and rare in my experience) to have a vet that understands that I'm not a millionaire and doesn't judge me to boot. read more

I was looking for another vet recently, and I was very lucky to find this hospital! I brought my cats to Dr. Martin, and she could not have been nicer and is a really a caring vet! The only downside is that my previous vet used to give me a 20% across the board discount for having multiple animals, which this hospital does not offer, so they are more expensive. With that said, I truly love this place, but it would be awesome if they could give multi-pet owners a bit more of a discount. Otherwise, I think they're perfect! read more

Island veterinary group is the BEST. I adopted my cat at 4 yrs old. He is the sweetest cat but I haven't been able to pick him up in the 5 yrs that I had him. Do not go here!!! I had an appointment scheduled for my dog today. It was going to be the first time I had ever seen the Vet in person, since I started going here during COVID. I pulled up and told them I was there for the appointment. The receptionist Sandy (which I had a very long conversation with when I made the appointment because I had several questions about the vaccines my dog needed) said, "Why are you here?" I proceeded to tell her that I was there for my dog's appointment. I was told I don't have an appointment today or any other day. However, they could squeeze me in. There was no apology!!! My dog is jumping all over the backseat at this point because I live 20 min away and she had already been in the car quite awhile. I asked how long the wait would be. She said if they squeeze me in as"AN EMERGENCY PATIENT" in 45 minutes, it would cost $100!!!! if I waited an hour it would be $75!!! I told her that was insane and I would not being going here ever again! They screwed up and I have to pay for an emergency visit??? That's Unbelievable!! Once again, no apology!!! Instead, I was told they could e-mail my dog's records to me. I told her that I hope she doesn't forget to do that too!!! (In a loud voice due to my frustration at the moment.) She proceeded to tell me since I raised my voice, her manager asked her to hang up the phone. I told her I was done speaking with her anyway! There are so many Vets on Long Island! I guess its easy for them to lose business! They should have owned up to their mistake and not want to charge me for it!! Dr. Wiener explains, in detail, every exam and procedure performed and answers every question in terms I can understand. With this being said, I decided to take my 9 yr old Siamese cat to their office location in Huntington Station. My cat was treated by Dr. Martin, who is warm, friendly and understands a "panicking mother" when she meets one. I am so impressed with this group, I wouldn't have my pets treated by anyone else, ever. I would recommend Doctors Wiener and Martin to anyone who cherishes and loves their furry "children".
