I would give this vet NO STARS!!!!…read more I truly wish I had read the reviews before bringing my cat here. This was one of the most distressing veterinary experiences I have ever had. I brought my Ragdoll in because she was clearly not acting normal - she was in pain when picked up, unable to jump, and not using her back legs properly. I also explained that my other cat had attacked her multiple times over the past week and had ripped out a chunk of fur under her left ear. She was understandably anxious and nervous. Instead of approaching her calmly and compassionately, there was no visible effort to soothe or gently examine her. The doctor briefly felt her back, did not even examine the bald patch under her ear, and then walked out. Shortly after, a nurse returned and said the doctor wanted to prescribe pain medication and have us come back next week. I expressed concern that she had not been fully examined. I was then told the doctor was refusing to continue because he "didn't want to get hurt." I understand safety concerns, but handling anxious animals with care and professionalism is part of veterinary medicine. There was no attempt to properly assess her injuries or even discuss sedation or alternative approaches. When I requested X-rays due to her difficulty using her back legs, I was told they would not do them and that we would have to return another time. I left feeling unheard, dismissed, and deeply disappointed. My cat was clearly in pain, and we received minimal evaluation and no real answers. If you are looking for thorough, compassionate care - especially for an anxious or injured pet - I would strongly encourage you to reconsider before coming here. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE!!!!!!!

My mother and I took two pets here on the same day, both were almost killed. 1. One was coming in for a routine spay. I was originally told she would need a cone as females tend to lick their wounds, but when picked up they did not provide said cone after asking for it multiple times. The care instructions were to leave her in a 'cold, dark room for anesthesia to wear off'. I did so, and checked on her shortly after to find a BLOODY MASSACRE all over the room, she had chewed through her stitches and opened her wound! I had to take her for a second operation to an emergency vet the within two hours of bringing her home to have her stitched up. Sure enough, that vet always provides female felines with cones for this reason! We called the following day to notify the staff what happened which could have been avoided with a simple piece of plastic. We thought they would take a little responsibility for this terrible circumstance, but instead have avoided speaking with us altogether. In fact, he called the cops when my mom showed up to speak with him in person....The cop was so disgusted by this, he suggested we write this review. 2. The second cat was brought in with severe dehydration and funky urine odor. I suspected it was a UTI, they gave some fluids and said to let him rest in his crate despite me calling hysterical stating he was walking into walls.... he was in full kidney failure when they released him... Second, our family had traveled all the way to Manhattan to adopt a Bichon...only to find out she had passed away before we arrived. I told myself I would NEVER buy a dog. Adopt don't shop. Right? Well not when you drive home from Manhattan with crying 2.5 year old twins. Tinsy went to heaven? Chloe too? Why mommy? So, I called the puppy store near my house; Petite Pets. A lovely woman named Beth encouraged me to come in, "We have the perfect dog for you...he's a little older...his name is Griffin". I wisely came in without my children because I didn't want them to be let down again. However, I fell in love at first sight with this little guy. His sad eyes, his long curly hair, the fact that he was a "leftover". I promptly called my husband and had him bring my girls over to meet him. Beth was right, Griffin was the perfect dog for us. At the time, $1150 was more money than we could afford and frankly against my morals and beliefs but we were IN LOVE. Beth explained that Griffin had been heavily discounted because he was "older" at 7 months old. Now here's when I regretted my decision: this past weekend, after owning Griffin for only 5 weeks...he started to limp, and not bear any weight on one leg. Concerned, my husband brought him right in to Dr. Alison Rhein of Dix Hill Animal Hospital. Incidentally, Dr Ali is also the owner of Petite Pets. At that time she diagnosed our poor Griffin with Legge Perthes, a hereditary disease that needs to be surgically corrected. The xrays cost 350$ and the surgery will cost $2500. Wow! We thought, "I'm sure Dr. Ali and Petite Pets will DO THE RIGHT THING." Wrong. Very wrong. Petite Pets has offered to offset the cost by 1150$(the original cost of our Griffin). This means, our grieving family will be out $1700. This $1700 is probably NOTHING for the owner of two businesses in Huntington BUT for our young family it will be the difference between being able to afford pre-school, a family vacation or even Christmas presents. We know our sweet fur baby needs the surgery and therefore we will pay.

She was always congested, her nose would always bleed, losing weight rapidly, no more energry and so much more. Supposably they did a bunch of tests and even surgery which costed me over $1,000 on one visit. They said nothing is wrong with my cat.... within the last month or so my 12lb cat who loves to eat wouldn't touch any type of food. She lost 7-8lbs within the last 3 weeks. Also my cat had a cut that looked infected in the middle of her forehead which the vet said was probably a cut from my other cats. They still claim there is nothing wrong with my cat. Today I took my cat to an emergency vet and they diagnosed her with a tooth infection and cancer saying the spot in the middle of her forehead is actually the cancer eating her bones from the inside out. Now today after thousands of dollars spent at Smithtown Animal Hospital, I had to put my loving, sweet, angel cat down.... I am so disgusted with Smithtown Animal Hospital. They insisted I bring her for a third appointment & would not renew her medication. I had in my possession almost a full prescription but it was more than a year old. I like to keep it in my house for when she gets sick. Don't use it often, but it's nice to know it's there. Now that these practices have been taken over by corporations, it seems as though you become part of a quota they must fill. I asked to speak with the doctor & after all the years that I've used them, he wouldn't even give me the courtesy of coming out to speak to me. What a sham this has become.

Apoquel is known for giving dogs cancer- they wouldnt allow me to bring my dog in after the meds they recommended gave her a UTI. Piss poor management from top to bottom and not knowledgable of specific dog breeds necessities. I contacted another Vet that day who also had a full schedule and they made room for me and my dog. Do not bring your animal to Park Hills- they don't know what they're doing and you will be waiting there for atleast 45 minutes before you are seen.

A+ service at North Shore Veterinary Hospital! My cat was…read morehurt by another cat late night so we couldn't call until the morning. They told us to bring him in any time. We had him there within the hour and they fit us in to the schedule. The people at the front desk were awesome as were the vet techs. The doctor was also amazing and did a great job fixing up my big boy as well as reassuring my daughter who was very upset at the time. I know that the staff probably hear the same things from the people who bring in their pets but they all listened and treated us with kindness and as individuals. I recommend this office to anyone who is looking for a place to bring their pets. We will definitely be back.
