We Finally Found Our Forever Vet! Saying goodbye to our vet of 20+ years when we moved from Brooklyn to the burbs was very difficult. Since moving, we've take our cats to a couple of vets and although they treated our pets adequately , something was lacking. After receiving multiple recommendations from new friends and neighbors we scheduled an appointment with the Twins. Dr Carlos Cintron was phenomenal with our sweet Hendrix. First and foremost, I want a say thank you to the management team here who allowed me to bring my cat here when they weren't taking any new customers at the time. My cat has been sick for over 2 month since we've gotten her and I was originally bringing her to Lindenhurst veterinarian based off of great reviews I seen Lindenhurst had. Lindenhurst was treating my cat for 2 months with no signs of my cat getting better and it was to the point where every visit I felt I was being over charged on top of the fact that I was putting my cat on numerous antibiotics with her not getting better. After multiple appointments and over 1,000 dollar spent with my cat not getting better I decided to bring her to twin veterinarian and it was the best decision I could of made. From the first conversation my girlfriend had with twin, I could tell my cat was in good hands. My girlfriend explained how sick our cat was and how she wasn't getting better and twin decided to treat my cat when they weren't taking any new customers due to them just being to busy and that meant a lot to me. From the first time me and my girl friend stepped in twin we could see why they weren't taking any new customers. This vet was swamped with people with there pets. The waiting area is big and they're fast getting people in and out. The staff and doctors here are very sweet and very professional. Dr Gilbert Cintron was amazing and he took his time with our cat. He didn't just take 5 mins with our cat like Lindenhurst and rush us out. He explained everything and asked us if we had any questions which I really liked. He was very professional and got to the root of our cats problem just off one visit like a good vet should. He diagnosed my cat with herpes and put her on some antibiotics and she has been doing much better. She still wheezes here and there but much better as I continue to monitor her day by day. Twins was a great vet when I brought my Kona there 14 and a half years ago. He needed very little care, except the yearly shots and dental care in Feb. The techs and the staff are super compassionate however, as my dog got older and needed additional attention , it seemed I could never get a call back from either doctor. I felt like all they wanted was to keep pushing meds without really ever searching for a reason for the problem. I highly recommend the staff at this vet, they are all supportIve and compassionate but no follow through when we really needed the support with our senior dog who was deteriorating by the month. I was always waiting for that "call back" that never came. We finally put Kona to rest with Laps of Love and this vet never reached out, just deleted Kona's info from the app. So disappointing at the end! Do better, boys! read more

I found this veterinary hospital on a recommendation from a friend after have had so much bad experience at other vet. ( I live in Queens). I had a great first impression with the friendly professionalism of all their staff. My little French bulldog is just underwent a neuter operation including the removal of a cryptorchid. They also trimmed his nails and cleaned ears after the surgery without extra fee . That's beyond my expectation! Now it has been a week my little Frenchie is recovered very well and as lively and healthy as ever. What's more worth mentioning is that their price are completely affordable. Today I took my sick Rottie to twins Veterinary hosp and thank God I did, my dog has never been treated so well! I absolutely love the vets here, but unfortunately the last few times we needed to schedule our sensitive pup for emergencies the front desk was not accommodating at all. We have used Twins vet for our last dog, and our current.. have put our baby through many surgeries with the doctor, but it is getting very frustrating to have to plead to see any vet available there when my dog is inflamed, limping, or suffering, and get told they can't schedule us for a week. We're at the point now where we have to consider going to a different vet as our pup is prone to many issues and waiting a week plus for an appointment when we are in a pinch is not acceptable :( .. the phone staffing is not very friendly which is surprising because the vet and tech staffs are incredible. read more

I love the vet here and just had my dog groomed, she was wonderful! The woman groomer loved my dog and she came out of the room smiling. Just know a standard groom here is 90 minutes. I wasn't prepared for that, so I had to shorten my time to 60 minutes and she did her best. The only downside to this business is their front desk staff has been stressed out every time I've visited and to be honest in turn stresses me out. read more

I would give this place 6 stars if I could. First off, the place is clean which I know I may be crazy but I have heard and experienced nightmare Vet places so this place was great. Second, the staff is very friendly and knowledgable. You're asked as the first time visit if you have medical records so its always smart to bring that with you. Third, Dr. Cintron treated my cat with such kindness. He brought her a toy and even gave her a kiss on her head. For me, it warmed my heart as my cat was nervous. Also, he works with you to see if there are any problems. My cat/kitten is 6 months old and I consider her my daughter. She was given her shot and we have to go back for her to be fixed. The fee is very affordable at 86 dollars. I rarely give out 5-star reviews but I felt it necessary to tell others to bring their animals here as they love what they do and and it shows. read more

I have been bringing my 2 year old yellow Lab here ever since he was a little puppy. My co-worker recommended Dr. Cintron, and he turned out to be an amazing vet. He is very attentive and good with my dog, Bailey. Bailey had an allergic reaction that caused a rash in his inner legs. Dr. Cintron prescribed Animax cream, which worked like a miracle. I switched to Twins a few years ago in part due to the good reviews. The first time I went for a routine visit for my 2 dogs. I found all of the employees and vet aides to be very nice and accommodating, and the vet himself was "all right". Nothing stood out about him but he was friendly enough. if anything I had a slight sense that he rushed through the exams. He didn't ask many questions or seem especially attentive. When I got the bill I nearly fainted, as it was almost $500 for the 2 dogs (and this was just a routine checkup with booster rabies shots, but he managed to up-sell me on all kinds of additional pills). Second time I used them it was for a minor health issue with one of my dogs. Again, the staff was friendly and the vet was pleasant enough, but that sense of being rushed? I felt it even more on the 2nd visit. Third time I used them was for a skin problem with one of my dogs. This time, the vet seemed extremely rushed, to the point that he barely examined my dog. He said he'd run some blood work and call me with the results. $250 for a 10 minute exam. He called me with the results and seemed rushed and unprepared for the call. When I asked what my options were to remedy the problem I'd gone in for, he said he would have his office call me the next day with an estimate for a procedure he needed, and also said that he would mix up a shampoo for my dog that would help with his skin and to grow some of his fur back. He said I could pick up the shampoo the next morning. 4 days passed and no one had called me back, so I called them. It was super odd. The employee said "Oh I'm sure we called you with that estimate and you just weren't home". (Huh? I have an answering machine like everyone else on the planet, plus caller ID and there were no missed calls from them). So she gets me the estimate for the procedure, and I ask about the shampoo to see if it was ready for pick up. She puts me on hold, comes back and asks me to clarify; I tell her about the the conversation with the Dr. She puts me hold again, this time for awhile. She comes back and says "I'm sorry, you must be mistaken, I just checked with the doctor and he said he never mentioned anything to you about picking up shampoo. It's not in the file notes either, and he always notates everything". What the hell? So the doctor, who sees countless animals per day, would never,ever forget part of a conversation, instead I must've imagined the whole thing? Yeah, that's more likely. Pfft! What an insult to my intelligence, and so unnecessary to lie about! Needless to say, I found a new vet, got a second opinion and had the procedure done for HALF the price Twins quoted me! In summary, the office staff and vet aides are very nice. The doctor is pleasant on the surface, but not thorough, and rushes through his exams. They're overpriced and up-sell you on everything. And the practice as a whole will never admit they made a mistake, even for something as simple as forgetting to leave some shampoo. read more

My dog has been going to Twins Veterinary for about 10 years. Religiously every year for checkups and shots. For the past two years we were concerned about a hard mass on our dog underside. We kept asking the doctors (Gilbert and Carlos) for the past two years and we kept getting responses like it's okay, let's monitor it, just last month we were told it was her stomach. Brought our dog someplace else to find out it was a hard mass 10 cm by 5cm on her spleen. Doctor that discovered it as soon as we mentioned the mass said we need to do an x-ray. X-ray showed the mass we then proceeded with an ultrasound which gave us the location and size. We need to now do x-rays of the chest to see if it is anywhere else to see how to proceed. Point being Twins could have found it sooner and misdiagnosed it for sure. My dog is 14 1/2 and it may be cancer. Sadly these doctors are not as thorough as I thought. Hard to prove malpractice and negligence but sadly my dogs life is weeks to months now. read more

I wanted to change my chow chow Simba's Veterinary doctor. Our original vet was always rushing us out! I was recommended to go Twin Veterinary Hospital in Bayshore. All I can say is WOW! When I first walked in, there were a couple patients waiting (social distance) and I was happily greeted with Simba. The entire office was so clean and did not smell (some offices have that smelly dog smell lol) We did not wait long at all! The staff were extremely efficient and friendly, and they loved Simba ! They all had masks on and were following all cdc guidelines and rules. Once Dr. Gilbert Cintron came in, he brought simba a toy. He was super professional , compassionate and friendly to Simba and I ! He took his time and checked Simba from head to toe and was extremely informative and listened to all of my concerns. I'm grateful to have found Twins Veterinary Hospital. (overheard a conversation a while back in the supermarket) My 18 year old Lovebird, Beeper (or Papi, as Dr. Gilbert Cintron affectionately called him as he held him), was starting to slow down. It started with a fall a few months ago from his perch. The falls increased, progressing to disorientation, lack of appetite, getting stuck on familiar places in his cage, blindness in one eye due to a cataract. Excessive drinking (he actually fell face down into his water bowl Saturday and couldn't get out- and I saved him since I happened by soon after it happened.) That day he had a few more accidents where he'd gotten stuck on his swing (which I promptly removed much to his disapproving glance), fell off his perch to the bottom of the cage and couldn't right himself, and I would "save" him from himself 3 times that day. I knew it was time for the Rainbow Bridge. These occurrences were increasing the past week, Saturday being the scariest as he'd gotten badly stuck a few times and then could have drowned in his water bowl). He would sway like a drunk on his perch. He was very dizzy. He wasn't yelling his name cheerfully every time I : sneezed, talked to him, sang to him. He wasn't talking at all, and wasn't interested in baseball anymore. He just wanted to sleep- even if it meant clinging to the bars of the cage- which I learned from Dr. Gilbert Cintron, was because his equilibrium was way off. Clinging to the bars gave him a sense of balance. I learned a lot from Dr. C today. 18 is old for a Lovebird. Usually they live 10-12 years. Dr. C is a compassionate, caring and kind gentleman. He took his time explaining things to us. We knew we had the right Vet to help Beeper go to Heaven. All the while, Beeper's playlist of his favorite Spanish songs played softly on my iPad. The staff is also incredible. Danielle, who took my call yesterday - was kind and patient as I explained what was happening. All of the staff (another Danielle in the exam room, as well as other names that I'm sorry I can't remember- I only had 5 hours sleep last night)- were awesome. The facility is clean and I do mean OCD clean. Big plus! Staff is unparalleled. Dr. Gilbert Cintron is just beyond. I understand that his identical twin brother is also a vet there, hence the name TWINS and I am certain he is equally awesome ! Thank you, Dr. Cintron, for helping Beeper go to Heaven, and for giving us some of his feathers that we asked for. Thank you for having a staff that are like one big happy family. Thank you most of all, for your compassion, patience, and kindness. For those concerned about prices- We also decided on private cremation for our Beeper - as we do this for all our pets. Their prices are extremely fair. Definitely not overpriced. We expected to pay a lot more- and were surprised - we paid a lot less. I've been going here for a few years with my cats. One of my outside cats who had never had a problem , became ill . I finally got the cat in the carrier and called Twins. Stephanie answered my call and even though it was three oclock , she said Can you come down right away.? I said YES !!!!!! My baby had an abcess that broke in his mouth. Thank God Twins was able to help me. As this was my one day off this week , the stars were aligned for me. He got the help he needed , he is ok and resting. I nothing but good things to say about the doctors and their staff. If I had to give a complaint the only one I could come up with is that they are overextended. Just called for an appointment for my dogs (shots) and the first available appointment is six weeks out. As a possible solution to this issue maybe they could do what my primary care physician (PCP) has done thought I'm not sure if Vets can do the same thing. My PCP has closed his practice an is not taking new patients. For an annual fee you can be a member/patient of his practice. Once he did this the service he provides now had changed the "experience" of being one of his patients. There are no issues getting an appointment and in most cases he is available the same day if needed or wanted. There is zero wait time when you go to his office and the appointments never seem rushed. And you always see him, which is the reason he is my PCP, not one of his Physician Assistants or Nurse Practitioners. Because of my job, which is in NYC, and schedule this is great thing, I know when I make the appointment I will be seen at the time scheduled. Prior to this change, I feel like he does not have to schedule appointments that take 15 - 20 minutes every 10 minutes which did nothing but put him behind schedule and always rushing to catch-up. I do understand that this is a luxury which not everyone can afford but luckily for me I can afford the service. It would be great if Twins considered such an arrangement with their patients as i would surely sign up! read more
