There are always surprises when you're gutting someone else's build, so it was reassuring to have people on the ground who were knowledgable, experienced, and honest. Communication with Chris was great. And budget-wise, we ended up pretty close to where we expected to land. Yes, there were change orders; but they were almost always due to expanding the scope of the job -- and not because we were being gouged. We also really liked that RR has their own cabinet shop, and a crew who has been with the company long-term. Lastly, and people don't usually write this, but it's important: they're all nice guys. My husband was…read morecatastrophically injured in an accident and we were told we need to move somewhere that can accommodate his wheelchair and other disability needs. Very expensive. When we reached out to Kristiaan to ask if he could help us remodel our kitchen, he not only agreed to give us a quote without charge, he also came to our house and taped out the entire design on the floor, no charge. None of the other contractors were willing to put in that kind of time and effort without a guarantee that they would get the job. Kristiaan not only worked with the IKEA plans we had designed, but he further figured out the engineering required to support the large, open span that we had to have suspended over my husband's wheelchair. Everything you see in the photos is brand new and done by Kristiaan. What you don't see is that, on the other side where we already had IKEA cabinets, he moved the entire cabinet run over and built a stabilized support for our new kitchen sink. He also worked with the countertop installers to get us the cutouts that we needed, and recommended the best outlet/lighting system for us. And when IKEA dropped the ball and failed to deliver the promised toekicks, Kristiaan developed a workaround and personally went to IKEA to pick them up for us. A good friend of mine who is a luxury home builder in the Twin Cities said that Kristiaan basically fulfilled the idea of "aging in place" that is extremely popular now. Instead of moving to a "senior" type development, hire Kristiaan instead to make over your current home into your dream home. There was great up front communication in reviewing what I wanted to do, and we came up with a plan for purchasing materials and having him do the project. Note this was more of a custom job with pre-determined kits from a retailer, so not a typical project he's worked on, but he assured me multiple times that he could do the project with no issues. Unfortunately, once he started things took a turn. The instructions weren't followed, measurements were off, permit wasn't pulled, and there were multiple other issues that came up that resulted in me having to fire him and hire someone else. We did come up with an exit agreement in terms of fixing repairs and covering damages which was much appreciated. If you're looking for general fence repair, and/or a standard fence install, I would recommend. Just make sure you do you homework, sign a contract, and ensure permit is pulled.

I've had an excellent experience on all of the projects, Nate was communicative, knowledgeable, flexible, finished timely and has been extremely easy to work with with. Job#2: At one of my rental homes, we had frozen pipes due to poor insulation in the unfinished area of the basement. Jeff came out same day, fixed the issue, and sprayed insulation to prevent future issues. I have worked with handymen for 20+ years and must say that Jeff is one of the very best.
