We were lucky enough to be in a smaller van while others were in large busses, so our experience was more personalized. Dwayne knocked our socks off. He crams so much knowledge into the tour, well above and beyond the actual stops. His passion for the city and knowledge of architecture and history were impressive. He also knew his way round the current blockages/construction and was able to avoid politics while discussing the current construction which takes mad skills. He thoroughly answered any random questions we threw at him and had deep knowledge of subjects like the Red Cross and Clara Barton, I've volunteered with them for years and didn't know his fun facts. Dwayne was born for this role and may be the best tour guide I've had in my life. I now question my own passions/interests. Dwayne gave great suggestions for getting the best photos and what else we can do in his city. I wish I had more days here and could do more tours with Dwayne! He is so inspiring!

It's exciting to be on a tour when senators are holding hearings and you can actually sit in on them. The building is adorn with artwork, paintings, and sculptures that date back centuries. The architecture is awe-inspiring. So much to learn and see during the tours. There is a gift shop as well (but of course there is). A must for students (first time I took a tour) and adults alike. Anyone interested in the history of the United States should include this tour on a D.C. visit.

Unfortunately, my experience with this agency fell short of expectations in both attention to detail and professionalism. The pros: I arrived and returned safely. The cons: I ultimately had to find my own accommodations due to several significant missteps: I requested a ceiling price for hotel accommodations but was sent options nearly double my stated limit. I was told the hotel would hold $100 for the duration of my stay, but upon arrival, I was informed it was $150 per night--a major difference in budgeting. After notifying the agent, I was told to expect a follow-up email to help improve the remainder of my trip. That email never arrived. When I was ready to book ground transportation, the price had nearly doubled from the initial quote. While I understand rates fluctuate, the agent sent the new booking without acknowledging or explaining the increase. Only after I questioned it did she offer a small discount. I initially expressed interest in the Four Seasons Paris. The second quote I received was over $8,000 for four nights--almost triple the first quote. When I raised the issue, the response was surprise rather than acknowledgment or proactive communication. The ground transportation that was arranged required me to locate the driver in a large, unfamiliar parking garage. It took 45 minutes to connect because the driver made no effort to find me. Since my return, I have not received a single follow-up or courtesy check-in from the agency. For context, I've traveled internationally for over 35 years and typically book luxury accommodations through agencies such as Virtuoso. This time, I chose to support a local Black-owned agency and work within a tighter budget. Unfortunately, this experience reinforced an old saying: you get what you pay for.

The walk lasts for 3.5 hours so I highly recommend sturdy shoes and perhaps a bottle of water. Tim (the guide) provides a snack along the way and hits up rest stops at appropriate times. It is a somewhat brisk walk at times but to cover everything we saw in the time period it was perfect and totally do-able! Even if you have lived in DC or the surrounding areas all your life, if you have not taken this tour, I highly recommend that you do!

The starting location is a bit tricky to find due to Pennsylvania avenue doing jumping locations so be sure to check your map before you go so you don't get lost before it even starts! It's amazing, but there is a right and wrong way to do this tour. Let me help you out: Go on to the website and get a tour lined up beforehand. You can show up without tickets, but you could end up waiting an hour or more. With the reservation, you breeze into your tour without the anxiety of waiting in a line to find out when you can go on the tour. I've done the line, and it's hit or miss. Get the res. The tour is FREE. This is an amazing service to the public and it's one of the truly fantastic things about DC. They could easily charge but they don't. The tour is excellent. It starts with a short video in a lovely auditorium where you get the full scope. I've seen this video now a dozen times and it's inspiring. Then you get broken up into 1 of 5 groups and assigned a docent who communicates over your own personal radio-headset. You don't see the actual chambers of congress on the tour, but this is something you can do on your own and sit in the gallery during an actual meeting of Congress, if you like. The Rotunda is impressive. The art is museum quality. The halls are hallowed. The information is extensive. Each docent does their tour a little different and they all impart so much information, you would literally need to be on the tour a dozen times to absorb it all. This is an A+ experience in DC and a must if you come to visit. And, frankly, going to the gallery is impressive for only about 20 seconds. You sit above and listen to the presentation of a bill and see a few famous members of our legislative branch, but after 10 minutes, it's exactly like watching C-SPAN. Literally. Go on this tour of the Capitol building. You'll walk away feeling you really saw something worth remembering.

You're given headsets and follow along a rather big group as there are many tours going on simultaneously. Then you visit and learn about the Crypt, the Rotunda and National Statuary Hall. The whole tour felt under an hour for sure. Very educational, historic, and definitely worth checking out if you've never done so before. After that you're free to explore with limitations. Didn't get the chance to see the Exhibition Hall. The bathrooms were exceptionally clean, very nice gift shop, cafe, and there's even a 5 minute passage over to the Library of Congress if you want to explore that after.
