I love that it's free! So nice to have a place to play tennis in the community , the ability to reserve for a time. And some free balls are available! Definitely coming back! The only thing is the instructions aren't super clear if it's your first time there. I was kind of treated like it should be obvious that you wait in that room where the couch is located and they sell pickle ball racquets in that same room. The worker asked me to come back at a specific time but didn't let me write my name on any list. I just came back at the specified time and they gave me the court number , I walked over and let the people know it was my turn and they left. Had a great time playing here! read more

My daughter has been taking group tennis lessons since she was 4 and she's now 9. The coaches here are excellent and great with kids. She's tried a couple of sports and this is the one she enjoys the most. There's an early bird discount at the beginning of each session. Make sure that you take advantage of that, it's a 15% off savings. The facility is location at the Arcadia Park. There's plenty of parking, and the restrooms are clean. For the parents there's a shaded bleachers area you can sit at, be sure to stick around if you have little ones playing so if the coaches need you they can get to you right away. I decided to get back into tennis during the pandemic as a "safe-ish" and "social-ish" physical activity. After my first group clinic, I became somewhat obsessed with the sport. I currently do the clinic, a semi-private, rally with other students, and practice on the ball machine. Coming here is literally the highlight of my day. The courts are well-maintained and rental fees are reasonable. My only beef is that the quality of coaching in the clinics varies a lot. Some coaches put a lot of thought in how they teach, maximizing the use of time and finding time to help players one-on-one while keeping the group engaged, and other coaches mostly do the same drills and don't pay much attention to individual strokes. You might also find coaches giving conflicting instructions, and some coaches giving instructions that are flat-out wrong (confirmed by google and watching technique videos). To that end, I wish ATC did a better job teaching coaches. But overall, it's a great place to learn, improve, and meet other players. read more

Just like the other reviewers' horrible experience, unfortunately I experienced exactly the same with the lady in the office. She was very impatient and rude to answer our simple question of which court was scheduled for the class that was about to start in a couple of minutes. The worse thing is she provided us with misleading information without even checking in the computer! she is hired doing nothing but sitting behind the counter. She raised her voice suddenly when I pointed her mistake and became furious. When I asked for her name, she shouted "I am the Manager!" She pushed me out of her office. To explain this review, I have to break it into two parts. Ever since courts have shifted to a reservation/pay structure it is one of those things you deal with because you have to. Kourts is a great app and for the days you never have to interact with the pro shop or tennis center, it's amazing. However when dealing with them, it's not great. It rained a bit this past weekend and there was no notice to our reservation that it was going to be postponed or cancelled. Where I live the sun was shining and no rain, about 15-20 min away. Until I came and saw there was no one but on the public courts playing I was then instructed by an employee of the tennis center the courts were closed. Communication could have been much more crisp about the cancellations. One other frustration was that the employee was not cleaning off the rain and seemed to just be waiting for the sun to come a few hours later and just said it was a liability so they were keeping the courts locked. The employee at the front desk was not very helpful in the situation and I had to initiate the conversation about how to go about rebooking/refund. I stood there for a couple minutes only to realize he was waiting for me to say something. read more

My kids are taking classes here so instead of just sitting around, I rent the ball machine. $15/ hour isn't bad. It includes the court rental. Then I found out if my kids are in class, the rental is 50% off. YAY!! Mary (in the shop/office) is super nice and informative. The courts are very clean and well kept. My kids are loving their tennis lessons. The coaches are great with the kids. They keep it fun and interesting for them (Little Hitters and Big Hitters). They are on their second session now. They also sell, balls, rackets, shoes, snacks and drinks. Lots of shady parking. The courts with the most shade are 4, 8 and 12. read more

I use to come here when it was Rusty Millers academy and those were some good times! If you plan to sign up for classes, sign up early to get the discount. The beginner classes seem to be just focus on letting the kids have more fun. I think the kids love it since they 'play' a lot more than doing any drills. But I guess that's normal to keep the kids interested. The Coaches seem great and I do like how they don't tolerate a lot of misbehavior. During the fall classes in the evening, the rest of the courts were empty so it was fun to hit around. Also, don't expect too much help from the office on anything. read more

This center falsely advertises the coach for summer camp. Whoever they put on the website (in this case, Salvador Ramos) is not the one who's teaching the camp. The owner, John Letts, explicitly replied to me on an email when I sent in a complaint. And the complaint that I've made is regarding an unknown coach that they refused to release his name. First of all, there was an incident that our son got hit accidentally by another coach at the camp. His arm was very seriously bruised. By night he had a fever. I sent an email Thursday morning and mentioned about how we weren't informed during pickup that an accident happened nor was there any first aid, e.g. ice pack. By Friday morning our son felt ok to go back to camp. When my parents sent him there, they informed the "fake salvador" about the bruise and that if our son felt too tired, to please let him take it easy or call me to pick him up. The response gave was "why is he even here", cold and stern. Why? Because even school policy is if a child does not have any symptoms within 24 hours, then the child can go to school. We paid for the camp, therefore, he can. There were no apologies from lack of communication with an injury, no sympathy, but only simply being mean. And that still wouldn't have triggered me to look up and down for ways to make complaints about. Here comes a part that made our family furious - towards the end of the class, our son accidentally stepped on another an older camper's backpack. The camper was very agitated and pinched our son's back. So our son responded with self defensive mechanism and pushed the kid away. That's when "fake Salvador" spotted them and snatched our son's racket out of his hands, yelled at him to "tell you mom to never sign you up for this camp again" and said something equivalent to you've been fired or expelled. So our son started crying by how mean the coach was acting. The worst is fake Salvador then said "now you're crying like a baby girl" to an 8 year old. When my parents picked him up from camp, they FaceTimed me and our son was crying non-stop saying the coach was mean and scary and that he never wants to play tennis again. iTennis handles conflicts with abusive and humiliating languages. The coach is basically a bully and discriminates against girls by insinuating that girls are weaker and they would be those to cry. Parents, this camp experience will scar children for life. Apart from the way our child was treated, the coach was constantly threatening all other kids "I'll call your mom" whenever he cannot control a situation. So it was not a unique situation. Their office still has not given any concrete resolution to us after 3 weeks. We had to go to the center in person on the weekend to search for the real Salvador to get them to response after at least 2 phone calls and 3 emails that I sent and did not get a response from. The only responsive they have given is we are going to hear what that coach has to say then to believe what our child's "one sided story" quoted from their manager Patricia. read more

Due to Covid and being stuck indoors, I was looking to get back into tennis so I can get my weekly exercise in and improve my game. Since I was super rusty and is looking to become a little more consistent and confident in my ground strokes, I signed up for the intermediate class. I had Coach Steve and he basically did not coach us at all. One of the students in the class actually provided more pointers and advice than the coach himself. We also didn't do any drills. All he did was feed us balls and we just hit it wherever we wanted. There was no directional guidance on what we should focus on or how we should improve. I felt that if I wanted someone to just feed me balls, I would just get a ball machine. I was quite unhappy with the class and questioned why I even enrolled as I had no confidence that Coach Steve can generate the results I'm looking for. Luckily, the overall intermediate class got terminated early due to C-19 and I was able to sign up for the advance class with Coach Roger. Coach Roger is the primary reason why I am still taking the class today and also why I am giving itennis 4 stars! He is able to point out what we're doing wrong and help us make the necessary adjustments. I also love the class structure where we do drills targeting the development of specific skills. Then we would utilize what we just learned and practiced in a game play simulation! He would also jump in and play some of the games to give us a good challenge. Overall I really like that Coach Roger is so knowledgeable, actually plays tennis, and is also fun and personable. I feel like I've definitely improved and look forward to class every Wednesday night! The class dynamics is also wonderful! Everyone is so friendly and encouraging! We even coordinate to hit outside of class sessions! Lastly, the reason why I didn't give it 5 stars is because during the 5 months I've been attending the class, the balls were always old and flat. For about $30/class and a minimum of 6 people, I feel like itennis can do better than that and supply new balls at the start of every session so that we don't get injured from hitting with flat balls all the time. read more

This is a review for my experience with iTennis . I took three Beginner 2 group classes over the last few months. Initially I thought the classes were not bad, I enjoyed socializing with most of the classmates, and the tennis courts are kept in excellent condition. Over the last month I have found my experience to become less and less appealing. As the class size became larger I noticed Coach Steve would do more one-on-one drills, where he was playing the entire time, but the students would sit around doing nothing for the majority of the class waiting for our turn. It got so bad that I thought about bringing reading material during class to pass time. Coach Steve also offers no instruction, he just feeds us balls from across the court. Each students gets about 5 balls, and then we have to sit and wait along the fence until it is our turn again with a larger class size this becomes a huge time waster. In fact I found my tennis skills plateauing and then getting worse after taking two classes with Coach Steve. Renting a ball machine for 90 minutes is cheaper and more effective than a class with Coach Steve. All his drills are the same every single class, he offers very little to his students. I am also disappointed that iTennis is not more proactive in their customer service after cancelling classes. Both times I experienced huge delays in scheduling make-up classes. Because of the last minute announcements I was unable to attend the make-up, and had to call the office to get refunded. read more

Under their recent new management. Salvadore Romeros, the service has fallen off the cliff. Poor communication, and unreasonable changes without clear explanation. I captained a USTA team that used to play there as our home court. We requested a change in the schedule and was booked to a new time slot. After almost a week goes by, Sal emails me at 5:30pm, the evening before the match and say we weren't allowed to book that and cancels our booking. I had to tell my team as well as the other team we didn't have courts to play. No clear explanation why it was not allowed but just that "Part of my job is to keep structure with the facility and follow all county rules accordingly. Please let me know who scheduled these courts for you as it's against county rules. Or if you booked courts yourself, please know it's our job to keep the facility organized with everyone following the rules." were his exact words. WHAT IS THE RULE? ???? the guys is completely over his head and does not understand the meaning of service. Will never play there again if he remains in charge. read more

I have a love/mild dislike relationship with the Rusty Miller Academy. He does draw some good players from all around SoCal to play in his tournaments. This is good. You always know you will get a good match or one mediocre match and one good match. The courts are in slight disrepair. They could use a resurfacing, as they are slightly lopsided. Also, there is no barrier or fence in between courts and the flying balls during a tournament match can drive one batty. The surrounding park is very nice, so this is a great place to bring a hound and/or kids. (In order of importance, naturally.) I wouldn't take lessons here because sometimes I think Rusty can be a little rude. This last time he was super friendly, which made me go, "Hm." However, sometimes he is oddly short with clients and employees which kinda bugs. No mind, however. I am here for the tennis and it is usually pretty decent quality. read more

I hated this place. I played at Rusty's academy for about two years (2000-2002). I enrolled in the summer sessions and moved to the night and weekend group sessions when classes started. I got fed-up with how unprofessional the instructors were, and I decided to pay more for private lessons elsewhere. Rusty, the owner, has a really short temper. I would never take private lessons with him. I really didn't like one of the instructors named Chris. There was an instructor named Tuan, and a Russian guy (who I didn't like either). I am not sure if any of the instructors still teach there. I felt like I was always being verbally abused by the instructors. On several occasions, I wanted to file a report to the police as to how the instructors were mistreating the students. I really love tennis, and I still play. But, going to Rusty's always made me dread going to practice. I was in constant fear whenever I had to come here. It was nice being part of group lessons because it made drills a lot more interesting, and we would practice playing matches against other students in our class level after the drills. I'm 23 now, and I still have pretty bad memories of this place... read more

I haven't picked up my racket in 3-years and even though I played tennis in high school, I still signed up for the beginners-level 1 class. I love the way the classes are set-up. When there's a lot of people, we split up onto two courts and run drills. You have just a moment to breathe before it's your turn again. John is an excellent instructor and the facility is in good condition. There is ample parking and in general the rest of the staff is nice too. The courts and fencing has been repaired/replaced. Everything is looking up for Arcadia Tennis Center. I've been taking classes at this tennis center for about 8 months now and have had a great experience. I've trained with all the coaches and they're all extremely talented at both teaching and playing. Javier has a drop in cardio class that is both fun and really valuable to get time on the court. I am by no means an expert so each coach has been incredibly patient and helpful for someone of my skill level. The courts themselves are also in great shape because they clean them every week. There's 12 courts total so there's a lot of tennis going on. It can get busy during peak times but that's pretty much the norm in this neighborhood. I highly recommend checking this place out if you want to learn to play, are looking for a competitive group to improve your game, or just want a place to play with your friends, this is the spot read more

I hit three to four times a week at various places in Arcadia. Recently, I was told by a rude member of their staff, probably that Javier guy since I think everyone else has hair, that I could only use 6 balls. I was on Court 11 or 12. The tone he used to inform me of my horrible transgression was somewhere along the lines of a TSA agent and a cop about to end his shift. It is utterly absurd that you can't have a hopper and be hitting with your partner. I understand they want to monopolize the lessons there, but I'm just there to get my exercise in with my friend and not start a tennis instruction business. Be warned that if you don't have exactly 6 balls or less, Officer Javier is going to have some words with you. Take your business elsewhere folks, they don't deserve your patronage if they micromanage recreation players like this on the two public courts. read more

I can't get a court even when I call the minute the pro shop opens. Part of this is not their fault because there are constructions. But, I was told that walk-ins get priority. I signed my kids up for group lessons about 3 months ago and I absolutely love LOVE the instructors here!! My 7 year old adores the high energy Javier and I really don't think he realizes that he is practicing so hard (sometimes in triple digit heat) since Javier makes everything a game for him. My 10 year old niece is taking lessons with Mo and her technique really improved dramatically just in such a short period of time. The kids love it here so much that they are now doing tennis 4-5 days a week. If I can get this much enthusiasm out of my kids for everything else, life would be so much easier. read more

As a relatively uncoordinated and not athletically-inclined person, I decided to challenge myself before my senior year to take tennis lessons. The instructors are really professional, engaging, and funny. They combined techniques with practice, and all of them are very patient, a key quality in teachers. The schedule is really flexible, and there is a spate of classes of different levels, from beginner to advanced. The class that I took this summer was Beginner I, a class that over the course of several weeks, helped me grasp the serve, volley, front hand, and back hand. Since my initial review, the beginner's class drills have changed. While the class is still large, they now have three coaches instructing. They divide the class in three groups based on their age, and now there seems to be a 6:1 student/coach ratio. There is less down-time of running around and picking-up balls and more tennis instruction. They have also changed/updated their policy regarding missing classes, which is an improvement. read more

Itennis Arcadia has the potential to be great. Unfortunately, they can't seem to retain good tennis pros and are not responsive to input from their customers. We have been taking classes for 4 years and have spent a lot of money, thousands in fact In this time span, we have seen a lot of really good tennis pros come and go, demoralized. There was a truly excellent drop-in, fairly priced cardio tennis class that had good, consistent turn-out, but when the coach left they didn't take the necessary steps to keep it going. Also, the make-up policy for missed classes is restricted to the current session, whether it is the student's fault or a weather cancellation. So, one ends up losing paid classes without a reasonable amount of time to schedule a make-up, especially now that there has been a sharp decline in the number of classes being taught and, therefore, fewer opportunities to fit in a make-up. Then, there is the issue of pickleball. Itennis Arcadia has pickleball banners hung all over the court fences, as if to convey that they offer or support this fast-growing sport. But there is not a single court, of the 12 available, that has been painted or taped for pickleball. read more

Today My friend who takes lessons at the tennis center called in to see if I could get a trial lesson with her and they said that would be fine and that they had enough room in the class. So I came at 7:30 with her and an instructor by the name of Morisa gave us attitude the moment we walked in. She was yelling at us saying she wasn't sure she would have enough room for us in her class and that we we weren't wearing the right tennis shoes. We told her we called to confirm if there was enough room and the office said yes. She then went back to yelling at us about the shoes and suggested we buy some for the center. Then she said I couldn't use one of their racquets and I couldn't try the class. It was a horrible waste of time and I don't think I'll ever come back again. read more
