However, the reception area, bathroom, and exam rooms are all grubby, which is just gross, especially for a doctor's office. My major complaint is that, in four visits, I have had the office staff argue with me all four times about how much I owe. I know what my co-pays are, since my insurance company prints the amount right on the card. But they kept telling me I was wrong. Some of this is my fault. I didn't want to go into my appointment angry and was afraid if I made a fuss, I wouldn't get treated. Also, I could not actually see the faint ink and dinky numbers on the credit card slips, so just trusted they had rung it up as they said when I signed. They hadn't. The latest one was the most bold. My co-pays are even dollar amounts. They rung it up as $88.84! When I saw that, I got a statement from the bank for all four charges and figured out they owe me a little over $50! I'm thinking either someone is incompetent or, dare I say it, skimming? I just sent them a print out of the actual charges, correct charges, and amount they owe me. I'm DONE being compliant. I will be paying with a check from now on and will have a copy of the print out in my purse. If they give me any crap, I'll make a stink and demand Dr. Ortiz deal with the issue personally. BTW, I mailed the print out to the address listed on this site. It came back. It's not in Freeville, but in Dryden.

I've heard a lot about this place and none of it was good. The real problem is that there aren't any others nearby. Oh well, I guess I continue to suffer.

If you have not yet experienced an osteopathic treatment you are definitely missing out on a huge modality for pain relief, among other issues. If you're not familiar with osteopathic medicine, the first thing you should know is that a D.O. has the same education as an M.D., and then some. From "prospectivedoctor.com": "DOs stress a holistic approach to medicine, which looks at the whole person rather than as a collection of organ systems and body parts that may become injured or diseased. This does not mean MDs do not look at the whole person, rather MDs are traditionally known to take more of a problem-based or disease-based approach. The DO holistic approach also emphasizes integrating patients into the health care process as a partner. DOs value constant communication and follow-up with their patients. The American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM) states that DOs "consider the impact that lifestyle and community have on the health of each individual, and they work to break down barriers to good health." This philosophy is one key reason why many DO medical students choose to practice primary care."
