But after searching so…read morelong through so many different modalities to find healing and physical comfort, the results I gained, and retained, from just one session sure felt pretty miraculous--so much so I shed real tears of joy. I was a chef in my first life, and just came to accept that foot--primarily heal--pain was a part of life. She had me try some pelvic tilts, and literally immediately the pain that I had endured for 20 years, was gone. Pay her. Do the drills. Get your life back.

The first few sessions she helped me understand how my body was supposed to move and where I had to retrain it. After a few sessions, my constant hip and back pain went away. Then my shoulder pain. It is a lot of work that you have to do to get your body to retrain itself but Missy gives you the right tools, guidance and motivation to get there. After a few months, I was working with Missy on perfecting my form on lunges and squats in order to increase my weight lifting. I was no longer focusing on managing pain! I was focusing on improving my strength. If you're on the fence, I highly encourage you to reach out. She is really communicative and flexible with scheduling. She delivers results. And, she is a blast to work with!

What truly separates this Anytime Fitness is their care for individuals, elite personal trainers, and up-to-date equipment. The atmosphere of the gym is extremely welcoming for first timers as well as regulars. Even though I have been in and out of the gym due to surgeries, at this gym I am treated like I never left. This means a lot and encourages individuals to go to the gym more often. This Anytime Fitness does their best to ensure all equipment is functioning optimally or replaced, even throughout the logistic complications from the pandemic. Lastly, and one of the most important traits that this gym has over others is their high-level personal trainers. The personal trainers in this gym are not the 'lazy, sit-behind-a-computer-all-day' physical trainers. The trainers here are known for their dedication to their clients, knowledge in their fields, and approachability. These good-hearted individuals are subject matter experts as well as kind people. The managerial staff, the personal trainers, and the gym equipment make the Anytime Fitness of Point Loma my favorite gym in SD.

There is actually a parking lot at this location, which I did not know, but there was plenty of street parking available. The studio is nice, I like the industrial look. My only complaint is that there's not a lot of light, but it didn't keep me from getting a great workout. Next time, I'll probably try to get one of the machines closer to the window.

This was a reformer 1 class and I realized early into it that with a new teacher I must take the intro classes to get into the groove. For this month staying closer to home to blend in 3 days Pilates + yoga and 3 days gym weights and aerobics and yes my gym now has reformers which I will use for abs and a little stretching, but it can't compare to a class like today. AMAZING TEACHER, so happy I found someone closer for now. I'll be back with Andrew in April, but I like knowing if life gets crazy I have a teacher closer to make it easier not to fall off the Pilates wagon. Now to yoga!!'

I chose this gym for the convenient location and easy parking. I'd never done a full walkthrough,…read moreso I popped in one afternoon and was genuinely impressed by the old-school vibe. It felt like a perfect match for someone who appreciates real gym culture over shiny boutique studios. But the longer I trained there, the more the cracks started showing--and they add up fast. The equipment is a mixed bag. The free weights feel satisfyingly heavy (old-world heavy, great for pumps), and I really loved the turf area--it's loaded with punching bags, sleds, aerial bands, kettlebells, Bosu balls, a vibration plate, and more. It's genuinely impressive... when it's not a zoo. People constantly cut across paths or leave equipment scattered everywhere. Lanes or some basic traffic management would make a huge difference. The machines, mostly older Techno Gym and Hoist units, are where things fall apart. Many have off motions, some are missing weight scales entirely so you can't even tell what you're lifting, and the abductor/adductor machine has a weirdly tilted seat that forces awkward positioning and incomplete reps. The locker room was a constant frustration. Way too small for the traffic, with tiny lockers that barely fit a gym bag--forget squeezing in shoes, a phone, or a hat. It's also uncomfortably hot with terrible ventilation, and the black toilets plus lack of any real vanity area made post-workout routines feel like a hassle. Same story with the abysmal shower water pressure. Nothing about the space felt luxurious despite the "low membership, high quality" marketing. The infrared sauna gets plenty hot but is clearly showing its age (the teak creaks like it's begging for maintenance). The cycle studio is actually awesome--super dark and built for intense rides--and the yoga studio with skylights and soft wood floors is cozy. The stretching room has a stretching cage and free percussion guns, but with only one cage and limited space, it quickly turns into a crowded mess. Two reformers are a nice touch, though. The recovery area has real potential: hot bath, cold plunge, red light panel, and Norma-Tec boots. But everything is pay-to-play after the first use (one free recovery session per month, $35 extra after that; InBody scans are $15 each). At my previous luxury club, these were included with your membership. They send a cute monthly newsletter highlighting employee of the month and new equipment, which is a nice touch, but it doesn't hide the feeling that the club is running on limited operating capital. Everything feels a little gimmicky and nickel-and-dimed. I really wanted to love this place for its old-school soul and solid turf setup, but at $199 per month, the headaches and lack of luxury simply aren't worth it. I'll miss the turf training the most, but I won't be renewing. Best avoided unless you're okay with paying premium prices for a dated experience.
