Worst experience ever. We scheduled a grooming for our 5 month old Toy Poodle. The receptionist took my information and I specified services I needed. On the day of our appointment, groomer was apprehensive to give him a hair cut because this was his initial appointment at a groomer .We stated he was groomed and cut at home with no issues. We dropped off our puppy at 9:30 am(appointment time) . We were called at 2:00 stating he would be ready to be picked up at 2:30 (5 hours) and he was given a bath, brushed, ears cleaned and pads trimmed. No cut and charged us $60.91. The groomer stated he was matted therefore did not cut him. (He was bathed and brushed though?) we asked to speak with the owner, unfortunately , they are out of the country and could not assist us. read more

We always have an amazing experience here. They are kind, and they genuinely care for their 4 legged clients. My dog loves coming, and he comes home looking great. We have a labradoodle, and when we first got him we let his coat get too long. He ended up matted and had to be cut short. The groomer did a great job and didn't make us feel badly for it. We took our puppy here for the first time and I am very very disappointed with how they treated us, our dog, and the grooming they gave our dog. I dropped our dog off and showed many pictures of what we want our dog to look like. She said she understood and promised we would be happy because we had a bad experience in the past. I told her that my dog doesn't like when people touch his face or butt area and she said that's ok and they know how to work with that. When I picked my dog up, I paid and tipped them and then I saw my dog through the window and I didn't recognize him. He was groomed into exactly what we said we didn't want and was worse than I could've imagined. I asked the receptionist if they could fix him into what we wanted and the groomer didn't even come out to talk to me until I got her attention. She agreed that it wasn't what we agreed on and said that she didn't do it. When she took my dog back, she kept yelling at him and asked me to leave very rudely and frustrated. I left the building and after a few mins the receptionist walked my dog to me and asked if that was better and I said no because they barely did anything to fix it and I asked if she could do what we asked for and the receptionist said the groomer is done for the day (it was 3:40 and they close at 4.) she said I could come back another day to have them fix it again and I said my boyfriend may be able to come tomorrow but I will be at work. My boyfriend came back with our dog the next day and he said they took him back and he had to ask them to take him back again to fix it because they still didn't do it right. He came with many pictures as well. The groomer then started insulting our dogs behavior and saying it's the dogs own fault and how he needs to be trained etc etc. she also said she couldn't do what we were asking which was to cut his mouth area a little bit more (which was done before by another groomer). Our dog is in training currently. And, it is important to mention this is only his 2nd time getting a full grooming and he is only 9 months old. He does not like when people touch his face or his butt area. But with the right calmness and treatment of the person touching those areas, he is able to stay calm (I have seen it myself at his previous grooming). Also, the dogs were running around the whole lobby when my boyfriend came in and dogs were in the room with my dog while he was being groomed. This environment is not going to encourage any dog to stay calm and focused. My puppy ended up looking ok, many things we asked for were still not done, but it was good enough to leave it alone for now. I felt bad for my puppy because no dog likes scissors and razors constantly used on them two days in a row. We will not be coming back here, to say the least. And because of the treatment we received and our dog received by the groomer, we would not recommended anyone come here if they want to pay someone for their services to be calm, gentle, and patient to their dog. I posted pictures here of what happened with our dog. The first two pictures are what our dog looked like after the first time (and her kind of fixing it). The 3/4th pictures are what he looked like after the second day. And the last two are what we wanted and asked for.(I posted the pictures in that order but I think they posted out of order anyway). read more

The dog spa was recommended by a friend who is a stickler for cleanliness, quality grooming and customer service. Our dog has been groomed monthly for the past six years and is always very excited to go. We are always happy with their grooming and customer service. We also had our dog trained by Christian who did an amazing job. We never thought we would be able to walk or run with our dog off leash. MY DOG LOVES THIS PLACE AND IS EXCITED EVERYTIME HE GOES....and it has been years ;) This groomer was recommended by a friend that thoroughly researched and visited many groomers several years ago. My dog loves having free play either before or after his grooming and seems to always meet a new pal there. We have also used their private dog training which was a great personalized experience. I've been coming here with my shih Tzu for about two years now and I have been consistently happy with their services. They always listen to my requests and try to match them as best they can. The dogs are free to roam around the premises and are not cooped in a crate for hours. I've always had great service here. Dogs are allowed to roam around, not crated up (unless necessary). They have a day care area and grooming are. The people are very friendly and accommodating. My two dogs (Golden and Shepard) both love going there, they seem to have fun and come back very clean and smelling much better than when they go in. read more

One outstanding dog trainer, three rescues..... I think every dog owner should strive to be a responsible owner regardless of the type of dog they own. Even those of us with experience and good intentions however can occasionally find ourselves in over-our-heads and find we need the help of a professional trainer. Group classes offered by just about everyone these days aren't the answer for every dog or every situation. In my cases, group training sessions would have been disasters. In the past several years I have been in a position on two separate occasions where I was at a loss for how to handle my dogs, and my savior was Kristian Hammermueller. I initially met Kristian because my first dog Maxine was a regular customer at It's A Miracle Dog Spa. In passing conversation I learned that Kristian spent years training for The Seeing Eye. Watching him interact with dogs you could tell he just has a natural way and rapport with dogs and with their owners. Kristian first helped me with my rescue Pit Bull Cassie. A happy, active and loving dog most of the time, Cassie had an issue with bicycles making it difficult to have a relaxing walk on the local trails. At my wits end, I asked Kristian to have a look. Before jumping into dealing with the bicycles, Kristian took the time to explain his philosophy and approach to training and explained that I had to play an active role in re-enforcing the training he would show me if we wanted to see a meaningful change. We started out small with in-home exercises and Cassie excelled quickly. Next, we met at the Columbia trail which is always full of bicycles; it didn't take long for her bad behavior to reveal itself. Kristian showed me the proper way to correct the behavior and we worked with her over several sessions until she didn't even give bicycles a second glance. Problem solved, right? Well it was, until I learned about a stray Pit Bull - Mastiff mix that was at the end of his 7 day hold and was going to be euthanized. I couldn't let that happen so we introduced Cassie to her new brother Nova and thank goodness they got along! Nova, I came to learn, came from an abusive background - he was extremely fearful of everything and had separation anxiety. Most of the time Nova was a big mush just wanting to be near you, however I quickly learned that despite his good relationship with Cassie he was VERY dog reactive - not easy to handle with a 90 pound dog. I go back to what I said at the beginning of this story - I want to be a responsible dog owner particularly given the breed I have elected to own. I knew I could not handle this situation alone and as before Kristian was there for me. He assured me we could help Nova through whatever issues he was dealing with...I will admit, I was skeptical. I was surprised when his first advice was just to give Nova time to acclimate and become comfortable and trusting of his new surroundings and "pack". During this time he had tons of opportunity for walks and play but always in quiet environment where the likelihood of encountering other dogs was slim. Eventually you could see Nova relax; it was time to challenge him and try to address the demons that were in his head. Kristian began working regularly with Nova very slowly introducing him to the commands he would need if he was ever to be able to "ignore" other dogs. After every training session I debriefed with Kristian and he told me what the next steps would be. Long story short, just a week or so ago Kristian had taken Nova for training. When he returned to my house he was walking up the walkway alone...I immediately panicked that something had happened, but he waved me out and there was Nova in the back of his van with 3 of Kristian's dogs. He was just lying there with them, no muzzle and happy as could be! I couldn't believe my eyes! I really could have burst into tears. I was blown away by what Kristian had accomplished and so proud of Nova for his courage and perseverance (according to Kristian Nova earned a steak dinner and that is exactly what he and his sister ate that night). Both of my dogs get so excited when they see Kristian, Hilde and Natalie. You can tell they have had nothing but positive experiences with all of them either at the spa or in training. I know we have a lot more work in front of us - I have a whole list for Kristian of things I want to work on with both dogs. I am confident that in time I will have some of the happiest and best behaved dogs in Hunterdon County all because of Kristian. If you (or any other dog owners you know) need assistance with addressing little or major idiosyncrasies with any of your four-legged furry pack members I would highly recommend you call Kristian! My dogs are my heart and soul and I would not trust them with anyone else! So back to the title of this post...one OUTSTANDING dog trainer - Kristian Hammermueller, and three extremely grateful rescues -Cassie, Nova and their Mom! read more
