The worst experience I have ever had. This site is set up for lonely men. I am a business woman and was looking for an alternative to what there well....isn't out there. I stand by my two previous reviews. You say it's the problem of the New York IJL office, but the song and dance I was given by you here in Denver is the exact language used in the lawsuit. You are just as guilty the NY office. Location of the filing of the lawsuit does not absolve you of your participation in this scripted scam. If this didn't apply to your office, the lawyers would not have reached out to me to file a claim and long overdue refund of at least some of my money you stole in the name of greed. Again, $4,600 for six months, with substandard men is beyond words. You never revealed that men were offered much better membership rates, nor did you mention that the few men you do have are sent out several times a week. I had 25 dates over 1 year, and did not connect with any of the dates. I think they have a smaller pool of people than they admit to. Also I felt that they "didn't get me" and so were not able to match me up well. I also feel that they were misleading and even dishonest about the number of people in their system. It's a business and they seem to act like they care and understand but my impression is that they are just trying to make a buck. I think its a waste of time and money! I feel like I could copy and paste so many of the one-star reviews on here. When I told one of my best friends about the last date I went on... the one which prompted me to terminate their service she said, "It seems like they did that on purpose." That got my wheels turning. When I spoke with another friend about my experience, and she confirmed that she'd gone through the exact same thing, I became more suspicious. Finally, the thought popped into my head that they WANTED me to quit. I would have to forfeit my initial investment. While I did some research before signing up, most of what I found was positive. Could it be that they pay to have positive reviews pushed to the top when you perform a search? Sure, lots of companies do. Now I am kicking myself for not digging deeper. The first few dates were okay, but I continued to express that they were missing the mark on the attraction level. I revisited and refined my "want" list with them. I even sent them pictures of people I had dated to give them a better idea of what I find attractive. Then, they sent me on the worst date of my life. I felt objectified and horrified at the same time. The date was so uncomfortable, that I had to text a friend to call me with an "emergency" to get me out of there. I cannot express the level of disappointment and anger I felt. Not only had they wasted my money, but It's Just Lunch had wasted something far more valuable: they wasted my time. They wasted my time when asking for my feedback they did not listen to. They wasted my time when I had to dig through photos of old boyfriends. They wasted my time telling me they were homing in on what I liked and gave me false hope that the next date might actually be better. They were never rude. They were professional and responsive to all calls, texts, or emails. They seemed to take their jobs seriously, until you got to an actual date and it each one turned into a bigger disaster than the last. I feel completely duped. While I know I will never get the time I spent trying to make this work, I truly feel a refund would at least make me believe they product they tout is real. I was hesitant to write a terrible review in the past, as I've noticed that IJL is quite hard on people who do so, and tries to embarrass them. However, when I saw the manager Stacy respond to an unhappy customer by saying "nor have we received any refund requests in recent memory" I felt compelled to chime in. I was so dissatisfied with the service and the quality of dates I received from IJL (Oct-Dec 2016) that I verbally demanded a refund. However, I was not successful in this, as they were extremely adamant they did not give refunds no matter how unhappy I was. Therefore, I ended up throwing away approximately $3000. IJL will respond and say that I had nice things to say about my dates. I am a kind person, and I don't like throwing people under the bus. I do agree that all of my dates were "nice". However, I made it VERY clear to them after each date that NONE of them were men that I had the slightest interest in seeing again, even though they were nice. They came nowhere close to the quality that I was told I could expect. I have since talked to several other women who were very unsatisfied with their service from IJL and also asked for refunds, (to no avail), so I'm not sure how they can claim to have no refund requests in recent memory. Based on my last conversation when key team members are out they fall apart. My first date was fine, no connection but we seemed to be in each other's zone. It took nearly 3 months for my second date which was such a horrible mis-match on the criteria of education, physical fitness, employment, lifestyle, and location that I ended my contract with IJL. The excuse was a key person was out and that led to the error in match, then an attempted up-sell. If you can't get it right at the lower level why would I invest further with your company? I'm still in the process of getting my money back. The intake person sold me on local Denver "It's Just Lunch" matchups. I am a young, attractive working single mom. I had no issues getting dates on free apps. I was paying for the service and convenience. Of course they make you sign a contract that says no refunds and pay a membership fee up front before ever being set up on a date. Mine was spread out over the year, but still. I was matched right away, but when the date was scheduled it was for somewhere 45 min away and drinks at 6:30pm. There's nothing "Just Lunch" or convenient about that. I called to cancel the date and was so shocked by the discrepancy in what I was told it would be (things like Cherry Creek North, Wash Park, etc were all thrown out by the intake matchmaker) that I asked for a refund. They refused. However since they haven't gotten back to me, I suspect I will have to have my credit card company dispute the charge. Also they use a very annoying 3rd party payments system called UAS that won't stop calling me. Everything about them screams scam. I foolishly signed up before reading the reviews but now I realize like all the reviews on Yelp are terrible. STAY AWAY. I know Tinder and Bumble are just the worst but you're better off than with It's Just Lunch. As of this review I've had zero dates, no call backs, and am down 640$ with a possible recurring charge that I am going to have to dedicate hours to preventing from happening. Stay away. read more

I join IJL lunch last January. It took over 6 weeks for first date. The first date was fun, but we had nothing in common and geography too far away. The second, was far from what was described to me, it was horrible and awkward. The third wasn't any better. I asked for a portion of my $3500 back, after I didn't have a date for the first month. They refused. I asked multiple times after the first, second and third, they refused. I called asking for the manager, they wouldn't let me talk to her. I finally google the owner, called her, who did not respond and then the manager responded. I'm happy to say, if you are thinking about It's Just Lunch, don't. I just received a notice yesterday of a CLASS ACTION SUIT AGAINST, "It's Just Lunch". Maybe the courts will bring justice to this fraudulent company. Tried IJL 2 different times years apart. Both experiences were disappointing at best. As a woman, I paid $1500 for 3 dates over 3 months. Doesn't make sense to me that I don't get to see photos before a date, as I definitely was matched with men that would never fall into my definition of physically attractive. Hugely disappointing even if service had been reasonably priced, which it was not! Communication about what to expect was exceedingly poor (i.e. Number of men participating at any time; timeline to set up a intro, which had a huge lag time). I was set up with men who didn't meet even my most basic essential/core criteria (i.e. I wanted advanced upper education and active/fit lifestyle and was matched with someone who didn't complete college and was active but into motorsports, not fitness-oriented activities). I got the sense they "matched" me with the few men who were in a very tiny database. When I asked why they would match me with someone who wasn't very active in fitness activity (knowing it is my choice for spending probably 85% of my free time) I was told that I should be more open-minded to someone who may want to do active things but needs someone who an introduce the active ideas...! When dating in the 50yo range, it doesn't seem wise to me to enter a relationship expecting someone to change?! Not fair to either party! I also did not join IJL with aspirations to coach or train someone but instead to share some (not all) common interests, but more importantly to find someone with similar moral/relationship/family values plus intellectual curiosity across a range of topics. Someone who actively pursued not just new hobbies but also ideas and perspectives. I didn't feel these higher qualities were even peripherally vetted, nor were much simpler common interests. I was very unhappy with IJL. At over $4000, or over $500 per date, these ladies did not offer the personal service they advertise. They did not ever seem to understand what I was looking for, and, as a widow who cared for an older husband with dementia, they did not get it that I did not wish to meet another older guy (I'm not a cougar, just wanted to meet someone my age!!) I also often felt they didn't have anyone to match me with, but rather than being truthful, they would match me with inappropriate dates. I had very high expectations for IJL because the staff seemed so nice and I thought for so much money, how could this not work? Unfortunately I was very wrong. I went on two dates in the first two months of my membership and neither of us had the same interests. Both dates were a bit of a disaster and I never talked to either of them after we said goodbye. About two months into the membership I found my boyfriend of a year on eHarmony. We asked if there was any way we could transfer the dates to a friend, or my brother, and they refused. We fully understood the contract but figured they would be easy to work with and might even understand. They took the 1200 dollars and pocketed it for 2 dates they set me up on where I even paid for my meal each time. Carrie was so sweet in the beginning but after she got her money she seemed not to try or care anymore. She went from a sales pitch to "tough love." They recently got in touch with me to ask me if I would come back for a "special" and I told them I was in a relationship, and that I had a very negative experience. Christine proceeded to tell me that was unfortunate and that I was on my own. She was very rude to me for being in a field where manners matter so much. I hope that this review will help you in your decision not to join IJL. Each day I regret spending that money so my hope is that if I can save some one else from doing it, I will feel some sort of relief. I should have checked this site before I spent my money. The entire process was not only disappointing but demeaning. I only went on 6 or 7 dates. I don't remember how many since they were all pretty much the same. Needless to say, it was a very expensive lesson and definitely not worth the money or effort. From the beginning it seemed like they did not listen to what I requested. I asked for three things. Diversity, same age or very close to it, and same or similar socio economic status. I filled out a preference sheet and wasn't available when they called me to talk about it. I called back but No one ever followed up, as was evident by their "matches". Every single date was of the same ethnic group , most were at least 5 years older and the last two dates were so disheartening that I felt sick. Not sure why the local team would be surprised since midway I sent a business letter to the Midwest regional management team itemizing my concerns regarding this "dating service?" All points had been verbally reviewed previously with local management. It is not the fault of the men that the criteria (especially around sports) were not met, but either the lack of proper screening or viable candidates with these qualifications. This dating service is a scam! I blame only myself because i did not look at reviews before joining. Reading comments now confirms my experience. The following are just a few problems: 1. They did not listen to me during the interview, or if they did, it did not matter because they proceeded to ignore all the things i said were important about matches. 2. They blatantly lied about how many dates there would be. They said, "As many as you have time for! We are experts in scheduling so if you have the time we have the dates for you!" Of course it is my fault because i failed to read the fine print in the contract which says there will be a minimum of one date per month (which is exactly what they offered). 3. They ask for feedback and then continue to ignore it! When i mentioned that my dates were not matched in terms of politics or religion, i was told "Oh we do not recommend talking about this on the first date..." Seriously? 4. Also in the fine print is you need 6 weeks notice to cancel or they will keep charging your card. Fortunately i saw this in someone else's negative review in just the nick of time to cancel without extra penalty. 5. All the guys i met had the same complaints: IJL doesn't listen, matches them with inappropriate people, obviously has more men than women in the 40s age range because they heard the same complaints from all their dates that the women only had one per month whereas men really could go on lots of dates! I was initially scared to try internet dating which is why the idea of a personal matchmaker seemed so appealing. I was really ready to meet someone though and 1 (bad) date a month was ridiculous so after the first month i got on some websites and before my contract was up with IJL i had met lots of great guys online. Different sites might work for different people but i was on match, eharmony, POF, and OKcupid and got consistently great contacts on OKcupid so wanted to recommend that to anyone reading this. I still have a knot in my stomach on the money I spent on this. I had a list of 'must haves', two were: must like dogs and the other was that they needed to be fit. I also wanted a guy who was passionate about something in his life. But I never dated a guy that was fit and the last guy I dated did not like dogs and was extremely uncomfortable around dogs and was panting after the first 5 minutes on a hike. None of the guys felt any passion about anything in their lives. When I asked one guy about what he was passionate about he just looked at me with a blank face and said 'I just want to make money'. I also had upgraded to the Elite Private search where they would go out into the community to find a guy that fit what you were looking for. I am amazed that they could search for guys that were so opposite to what I was looking for. I almost got the feeling that they just went through linkedin. One description was a cut and paste from his linkedin page. My only point is they do not listen or even make an effort to match you with a guy that you described as someone you would like to have lunch with. I went through the initial interview which was very good but that person left soon after and I was stuck with someone who was very nice but just had no idea what a good match was. I would send emails reiterating the kind of guy I was looking for. I asked her if she had my original interview with my 'must haves' she said she did. If you just want a guy who has a job who has had a background check on him(I am assuming), then this is the service for you. But if you are looking for someone that at the very least satisfies your 'must have' list then don't bother. It is truly not worth the money. I wish I could give It's just lunch a good review. Their concept is spot on for someone like me. If you ever tried the http://match.com thing, it just takes too much time sifting through the million faces and all the unfavorable prospects. Considering the price you have to pay for membership at IJL ($1200 for six month minimum, it gets more expensive if you're older) you think you'd get better service. The people they matched me with were alright. They were all courteous and sometimes people just don't click. I understand that. BUT the thing that really upset me about IJL is that: -They call and call and call until you sign up with them, forcing you to fork over your money -When they mean a minimum of one date a month, that is all they give you. NOTHING MORE. -Sometimes to fulfill the one date a month minimum, they will throw someone at you that completely deviates from what you told them you are looking for in a date. -the restaurants they partner with are located only in Denver. That means residents outside of Denver have to drive pretty far to meet their dates. (this gets tedious after a while) -some of their participating restaurants don't split the check as they say their partner restaurants do. I am a young female, in my 20s. I am well off, ensuring that I have a steady career and am financially independent. I am kind and courteous. And I don't have a problem finding a guy when I go out, if I feel like it. I just don't like the caliber of people I do find when I go out. I was hoping IJL would help me with this, or at least give me hope that there are some decent guys that meet certain standards out there. Either way, I'm back on match. A monumental waste of time and money! Personable salespeople make all sorts of oral promises of many, many introductions to exciting people. I bit. 6 months later, my membership fee averaged $180 per introduction of which only one was remotely interesting. Did I complain? You bet I did. Clearly and consistently. Their response? Pay no attention to what the very nice salespeople promised you, we are only required to make one introduction a month (a real value at $320), and stick with the membership because things get better. Professionalism and expertise are the two things Its Just Lunch promotes in their advertising and when you inquire about the service. On both accounts they severely under performed even the basic expectations they claim to provide. I spoke with Julie, the head matchmaker, several times before I signed up. She seemed very interested in who I was and who I was looking for in a match. Unfortunately, this was one of only TWO times in a six month period we spoke. The second was only after I demanded to meet the "team" after a date that couldn't have been further from what I was looking for three months in. After Julie and I reset our expectations I requested she personally call me once a month to check in and give me updates. She looked me in the eye and asked, "what would we talk about?" and "If I have to call all my clients I can't go out to find you a match." It takes 30 seconds to leave a voice mail and let me know that I didn't just pay $1,300 an hour for a two hour consultation. I expressed to my internal contact twice at the end of my agreement my displeasure with the situation. After the second time Julie left me a voice mail which I returned letting her know I was going to be out of town over the holiday weekend and would greatly appreciate her following up the following week...Needless to say this never happened. The claim of being "experts" is a wildly inaccurate assertion. The infinite monkey theorem has a better chance of occurring than them setting up a perfect date. I understand its not exact science, but don't promise me you have a whole pool of matches that are exactly what I am looking for then go 8 dates without being anywhere close. I asked for an age range of roughly 6 years. Of the 10 dates I went on only one was in that range. There is ZERO transparency with the process and absolutely NO accountability. The service is a joke. The men you go out with tell you they go out once or twice a week, but woman about once a month. They clearly don't care at all about what you specify you want. The whole point of this is to get you to sign up, drag you around for awhile, maybe provide one date, which now I believe will be somewhat of a secret shopper, and then tell you to re-up for another 6 months at 4K. This is nothing but extortion and a giant scam. They target an older crowd, that maybe more vulnerable and know that they will pay in hopes of finding that special someone, when they really don't even have a network. Look at where they advertise? I had spent a year trying to do the online dating thing and never met anyone so the concept of being matched and actually meeting men was very appealing. I was very optimistic. I had to swallow hard when I was told the membership was $3300 for 6 months....but I would be meeting men, right? I was never given an expectation of 1 date a month so after 2 months and I'd only me 2 guys, I called and complained saying that for the amount of money I paid I should be getting one date a week. I was told that was an unrealistic expectation. In addition, they wanted half down when I started and they said I could pay the other half in 30 days, there were no conditions stated. After my first date when I had my face to face meeting, I was told that they wouldn't match me with anyone else until I had paid the other half. Most of the men were ok but they matched me with a VERY old 63 year old. I was a very vibrant 53 year old woman at that time and let them know in no uncertain terms would I never be interested in someone like that. I had 3 more matches, 2 of which had potential but neither worked out. So I met a total of 7 men for $3300- almost $500 a date. In addition, in talking to the guys, they were charged MUCH less than I was- around $2200 for 6 months or $3500 for a year. I was furious. I waited until the end of my membership and told them that I thought they owed me several months free since I was charged so much. I was told "well your membership included the dating book and a feedback phone call." I said "and that is worth $1000?" I also stated that I wasn't given any other membership options- it was $3300 for 6 months. All I got were excuses and I didn't get any additional time. I joined last year and paid a lot of money for what was promised--professional, compatible men in my age range (50s). It was a very bad experience and the biggest waste of money in my life. The matches had nothing in common with me except they were male and over 50. They were not professionals; two seemed socially maladjusted, one was presented to me as working in a profession and it was totally untrue. It was a waste of time and money. I began to dread each time they set up a meeting. They also set up a meeting for a restaurant that was shut down, yet they said they had made a reservation. They advertise so heavily ion the radio and I feel compelled to warn others to not throw their money away. read more

Hello fellow daters, please be cautious about investing with IJL, Denver. The company works tirelessly to take your money and does not produce much for it. The matches are at random, so are the locations to meet - I was bullied into two memberships, the second being based on how different it would be than the first one. I genuinely want to find a connection and this is not the avenue for that. After two failed memberships and countless conversations with staff regarding the false advertisement of people in the database, I just hope no one else spends the money and time, to likely be disappointed. If you do decide, make sure to get very detailed explicit explanations of the matches, and say "no" if you aren't interested. However, they consider speaking with you about a match an "introduction" which would meet the monthly requirement. So all they have to do is call and give you some dribble about a person, you do not need to meet them for it to be considered a "match". The database of men in the Denver metro area is very low. I am severely disappointed at my experience with this Organization. I did not expect such an unreasonable approach to their refund policy and lack of understanding and compassion. I suffered a loss in my family within the first week of joining. A loss that affected my ability to move forward with their services due to family and business obligations. The Staff was unwilling to refund any portion of my membership costs, despite the fact that only 3 hours were spent on my file and a first date never occurred. This was the most expensive 3 hours I have experienced for services not rendered. I urge anyone that is considering hiring this Organization, to do so with extreme caution and understanding that their financial bottom line is of the utmost importance, and not the Clients well being. Their Character, or lack there of, speaks volumes in their approach to such a sensitive situation. I am a Business Owner, as well as an Equity Partner in several other Businesses. It is clear that our values and approach to Client satisfaction are not in alignment. Such a shame. read more
