I wish it were possible to save a review without clicking in 1 star. It's just lunch is horrible!! You will pay a minimum of $1,500 and receive close to no service from them and negative value for yourself. They do not match you up with people that meet your requirements--they don't have the inventory but will never admit that to you. They just send you out with anyone wasting your time and your money. For months on end, I complained my matches were too old; despite my numerous requests they never set me up with someone younger and never admitted they didn't have any younger matches. I thought by hiring their service I would not have to do all the administrative work. However, I constantly had to keep them organized. They will forget you are a client and I had to call and ask for a date. I would call with feedback within 24 hours as required and the message would never get processed and someone would call me (at the office) for my feedback. On the off chance someone was proactively arranging a date for me, she would call three times in one day as if my job is to do nothing but wait for their call and return it immediately. I would get calls from someone who thought they were calling someone else. The first time I voiced my complaints, I left two messages with a director and never received a call back. When I finally reached her on my third attempt a week later, she said she was busy. You will pay $1,500 and be required to call them within 24 hours. However, if you request a call from them to discuss your disappointing experience they are not concerned enough to call you back at all. I tried to arrange a meeting to talk about how the service could be improved but they weren't really interested and said I could come to their office during office hours. Do me a favor. They will feed you one sales lie after another. Don't fall for it. Once they get your money, they are done and you can't get your money back. read more

I joined IJL almost a year ago because I felt that I would have better luck finding a good man who has his stuff together and who is looking for a long term relationship. I don't have any problems finding men on my own but thought this would be an investment so I can find someone who is more on my level. Ladies, save your money. Use that money to pamper yourself to a vacation or whatever else is going to please you. These men at IJL are left over garbage that no one wants. These men are not there because they are busy professionals but because this is their last resort to get some ..... I explained to director and other staff member at least 20 times what I was looking for and not one guy came close to that. Let me put it this way; they were short, fat, cheap, dorky, no sense of humor or personality, etc.... I realized that without having to pay $1800, I can find quality men on my own. Worst money I've ever spent. It seems to me that they want to get you set up on 12 dates asap so they can get you to sign another 1 year contract to collect more money from you. The directors and staff members are not in this because they want people to find love, they are doing this only because it's their job and that is how they are able to pay their bills. I'm not sure what service the person below me used, maybe they typed in the wrong dating service name, but my experience with It's Just Lunch was fantastic. I joined the service to meet interesting women my age and I did exactly just that. The women who worked with me at It's Just Lunch were all so nice and made me feel right at home. The meeting was definitely much better than any website could have done for me. I went on 11 dates with 11 different woman who were all friendly, attractive, polished and all together fun to be with. In fact, the only reason I do not currently use them is because t I'm dating one of the women i met through the service. I have used eharmoney and i have used match.com and trust me, none of these services can compare. The one on one time you get is worth the start up fee in and of itself. read more

As with life sometimes there is a connection and sometimes there is not. Every person I met was accomplished and professional. I found that "Just Lunch" had very friendly service.... but then it did not and I mean did not cater to what you wanted... I think they just randomly put people together and do not spend any time figuring anything out.... I was very clear that I only wanted to date men that were one or even 2 years older than me... The service charges 5K for 6 dates..... yep - that is a lot of money when your needs are not being addressed... I was very firm about the age thing from the beginning when the second date the guy was 5 years older than me... I am very much struggling with the fact that I will be in about 5 years the same age that my Dad died.. I could NOT picture dating a guy that was the age that my Dad died at.... this just really upset me emotionally and i told them.. but then all they did was read their rules saying that it was part of the contract that i signed... not taking any consideration for me their client - it was all about THEM.... i went on the date.... and then had 3 other dates.. with men at that age that were 5 years older. This is the biggest scam ever! I checked out It's Just Lunch in 2009. I saw the ads & wanted to see what the deal was. It was kind of expensive and I had other things I wanted to spend my money on. I called them & told them I wasn't interested but thanks. Now almost two years later they are still calling me. I have asked them repeatedly to stop calling me. I've spoken to about six different people & left countless messages to no avail. They still call & now I just pick up and hang up. I learned what I really wanted and did NOT want from IJL over the course of about two years. I asked for a certain type of guy and IJL delivered what I asked for (minus the attractive requirement). I learned that I did not really know who I wanted to be with as the person I described was in front of my face. However, after almost two years of really bad dates, I found my now fiance. It was going to be my last date with IJl as I was cancelling my membership due to no luck. I am now engaged and set to be married next year with an amazing man I met through IJL. And we also brought a beautiful baby girl into the world this August. So finding a quick good guy/gal through IJL I think is not going to happen. But if you are in it for the long haul and to learn who you are and what you really want and don't want- then IJL might be for you. read more

I'm agreeing with Jamie R. Complete waste of time and money. I got 3 dates in three months, one per month. All along they kept telling me "you are only guaranteed six dates but don't worry we will find you a lot more dates than that. Dating is really a numbers game." I wanted an active health conscious man and no "man babies". I also wanted someone who lives reasonably close by. This was discussed in length before my first date and repeated after all dates. First date: She had phoned me several times about meeting a man from Indiana that she felt was a great fit. I told her no way in all three phone calls. I was not interested in dating someone that far. I went into great detail on the point. She phoned me later and asked if Oakbrook was too far for me to drive. I asked if this was the same guy and she assured me it wasn't. When I complained to the IJL representative about Oakbrook being too far for me to drive to, I was told that his schedule was very hectic this week and could I make an exception this once so he didn't have to drive so far for just this first date. The man drove from Indiana to Oakbrook. The representative completely lied to me. I asked him about the theatre and dance performances he goes to and got the answer "Oh, I don't know if they even have theatres by me. Where do you go for something like that, all the way downtown?" This is one of the activities I was told we shared. As it turned out none of what I was told about him was true. Second date: I was told he was 57 years old. I answered this with too old for me, I'm only 50, a young 50. To this the IJL rep. said he is very active and describes himself as very athletic. He's an expert at cycling so he's in great shape. She even told me about his blond hair. If you met him you would change your mind she said. He looked even much older than his age; loves the sun, but hates sunscreen and the hair turned out to be grey, all grey. He knew nothing about cycling and answered "I don't know what you are talking about." He had a large beer gut and his arms did not appear to have ever seem the gym. I was also told he frequently goes to the gym. I had biking and the gym on my profile. Third date: I was told by the IJL rep. he was 53 and enjoyed hiking and backpacking extensively, goes to the gym at least three times a week with a trainer, is really into good healthy eating. She even got his occupation wrong. She said he loved culture, music and the arts. As it turns out, he never does theatre or dance theatre or the symphony, or musicals, "Na, I don't do any of that stuff". She mentioned his love for hiking and the outdoors. When I asked him he said maybe in my twenties, I don't have time for that now. He only has time for romance and would like me to drive to his house in the evening on the weekends. He explained his days on the weekends are taken up and he drives far to work during the week, so I should pick up the driving on the weekend. He also mentioned having 13 dates in a month. They can barely find anyone for me due to my age, although they constantly advertise on classical rock radio stations. My age range had to be 2 years younger and 8 years older than my age, due to so few men in my age category. He pays by the month; I paid up front because they said that they give those customers preferential treatment. To add more injury, after this third date I mentioned it was getting depressing going on these dates; I do all the driving with the exception of the first date of course and they are nothing as described. She said "since you're so depressed we wouldn't want you to hurt yourself I'm going to put your account on hold". I told her I never mentioned hurting myself and said I would just like to get the last three dates over with. She said, "no I wouldn't want you to hurt yourself". After my protesting a couple more times, she said she would consult with another IJL rep to see if they had anything for me. Then they sent an email to me saying the account was on hold because they couldn't get ahold of me. She put the account on hold anyway after trying to phone me once on a number I told them to take off my account and have previously asked them to use my home phone. I checked my messages on my home phone, the number our conversation had taken place on and there were no messages. I emailed back my phone number and wrote try using this phone number, I received no calls from you. I never got a response back. I feel bullied. Now that my account will most likely be on hold for six months and I remind you they put on hold not me, which ends the contract (if your contract is on hold for six months it automatically ends the contract and they keep your money), they have gotten away with taking all $5,000 dollars. read more

I like some people contacted IJL without doing my research but after hearing the cost and doing my research quickly learned that this was not for me. They continue to call and I keep saying not interested. Business must really be bad if you have to hound people. The most recent called asked if I want to be single and I said yes. She said wow, that's very unforunate because they have great bachelors (I seriouly doubt that). At the end, she said should I follow-up in a few months and I said no. She then said I will talk to you soon and I hung up. WTF?! What's unfortuate is this company doesn't understand the word no. Please stop calling me! I joined the 'new' Elite division of It's Just Lunch which was presented to me as my own personal matchmaker "PJ" who would work closely with me to find my ideal man -- attending social functions with me and scouting out the perfect man. What a total scam! They said they only have 5 spots and i got the last spot available. They took me to the Museum of Modern Art First Friday's (I paid my own entrance) and for one hour they sat there asking 'what about him', 'how do you like his look"? It was ridiculous. They offered up one 'short' man who ended up canceling our date due to a stomach virus. They gave me his first name and employer, within a matter of minutes I found him (God bless the Internet) -- he looked short. The owner of IJL has now fallen ill and I cancelled my membership asking for my money back (a hefty sum, several mortgage payments!). They told me they would give me 3 It's Just Lunch memberships to 'gift' to my friends. What a total rip off. I am contacting the Better Business Bureau and refuse to stand for this -- especially after reading all these reviews. Ladies, take your money and join the East Bank Club or the University Club -- that would be money well spent and a stronger pool of men to pull from! I have been on my first two dates and the matchmakers did an excellent job of selecting two men who met the great majority of my criteria. The two men have similar socio-economic status, education levels (advanced degrees), and interests in family. They were reasonably well-dressed, quite personable, intelligent, and confident (not overly). The only negative was that I did not find one date remotely physically attractive and I found my othe date to be 'cute'. However, I did attest to IJL that looks were not so important to me, so I can't hold it against them (yet). Again, I want to stress that the director 'hit the nail on the head' when it came to matching personality and similar career/success status. I recently found myself in the dating scene after a decade of marriage. I am uncomfortable with the thought of dating colleagues or clients as I have spent years establishing my professionalism and credibility (i.e., I wasn't hired, nor am I senior now just because I am the pretty blonde one with the tight bod). I am quite successful in my field, garner a high income, and have significant assets from my marriage. I am looking for a man who would not be intimidated my success, would be understanding of my career demands, and would also gladly welcome my children into his life. As a professional and a mother of young children, I do not have time to spend searching dating web-sites (I barely have time to go on the dates). Thus my hope with IJL is that I will save precious time (not necessarily money) in my search for a like-minded potential partner. I have yet to see if the feedback I give is taken to heart as I have just started. I do believe the director carefully listened to what I value and her assistant has asked me thoughtful follow-up questions. I am optimistic that IJL may very well introduce me to guy who is not only successful and bright, but one that will trigger that 'spark' of physical attraction. I was a fan! Not going to lie - all the dates are certainly not a prefect fit but overall they have a great group of guys that pretty much have their lives together. Some were weird, and socially awkward but I would say 75% were great setups - not necessarily the best connection but a decent night out. I travel a ton and so am short on time. When I was home they set me up for cocktails with a guy. If I was not into him I simply finished my cocktail then parted ways. Its a great way of being set up with no pressure from friends. Just starting to get a bit more serious with one of the setups so have my membership on pause. I have recommended it to my girlfriends and am surprised I am seeing so many bad reviews. read more

Thank you for all your reviews. I read each one of them and could not help to think how similar the issues were to the matchmaking service I used about four years ago. The dates were a nightmare. They were definitely not individuals I would have picked for myself. The service use the same technique as It's Just Lunch setting you up on drink and dinner dates. At the beginning I was optimistic but as I gradually provided feedback (I saw no improvement in my introductions). I realize toward the end of my membership that they had my membership fee and was ready to move on unless I pony up more money to renew for more loser dates. I got a cold call at the end telling me that they had fulfill their deal as it pertains to introductions. I read about It's Just Lunch on a trip in a Airline's magazine and thought I would investigate. Thank you to all of you that commented because it saves me a repeat that I hear is more expensive than the service I used. Under no circumstances should you spend your money on the services "provided" by this company. I signed up with them almost two years ago, when they had a so-called deal and had just started operating in London. It took me six months to decide to sign up, because it was a huge investment (£900, or $1300) for 5 dates in one year, and I wasn't sure that, being a US based company, they had enough people signed up in London (UK) to make it worth my while. Still, when they "offer" came up, I thought, it's worth trying out. Almost two years later, I still haven't gone on 5 dates. For the first 2 dates, the guys they set up for me didn't even show up. As an apology, they added an extra date to my package, and I'm still waiting for this ordeal to be over. I was unable to ever get anybody to pick up the phone on the UK based number I was given, and when I tried ringing customer service in the US, I had rude responses telling me there was no one at a more senior level to whom I could complain. It has been absolutely infuriating. We have now moved on from the fairly frequent calls trying to get me to go out with men who are outside of my parameters, and are now in the territory of complete apathy. I now get an email or a call once every 6 months, usually from a new advisor to whom I have never been introduced, trying to convince me to meet men over whom I have already expressed zero interest. The latest of their attempts to finalise my last 2 dates and get me off the contract (I hope) is to email me to arrange a date with someone of whom we have not even spoken! I wish I had read the reviews almost 2 years ago, I would have saved myself a great deal of expense and more importantly, annoyance. This is *by far* the worst dating service I have ever used and if I can help even one person to avoid making the same mistake I made, then I'll count it as a job done. read more

I've been using the service for about 4 months now, and they have lived up to everything they originally stated they would do. The staff is INCREDIBLY polite and they seem to truly enjoy what they do. I work with Rachel in the Chicago office, and it's usually only 3 or 4 days go by between contacts. It's always a pleasure to hear from her. The places that I have gone to are all terrific places to meet someone for the first time and even if I'm not attracted to the person I meet, it's always an enjoyable experience. My only concern is I would like more feedback from the other party about the date. But I think with my feedback and working with Rachel for a few months now, we are fine-tuning our search. As an update, I was a direct client. My account is under a confidential name so that businesses like yourself cannot remove my accurate account and review. It is absolutely criminal for what you charge people for the service you provide. And specifically in turn, when the matches you provide are far from what the client requests. Especially when you match someone with a match that is 16+ years older and as your client you refuse the match and then your matchmaker gets an attitude with you and tells you that "Age has no number". Seriously?? And most people are unaware of the settled class action lawsuit last year out of the state of New York that effected all previous and current clients with the very issues that I documented. If I could give negative 5 stars, I would! I read some of these reviews here before I signed up but then I saw positive reviews on other sites and I also saw they were BBB accredited, so I thought that maybe the people on yelp were just outliers. But that is not the case. This was the biggest waste of money of my life. Please do not WASTE your money. Message me if you want more details. Here's the summary of my experience (based on the complaint I submitted to BBB and the one I will file through the state as well. I encourage other yelpers to submit complaints as well!) The company (It's Just Lunch) is a scam. As described below, they engaged in false advertising, unduly pressured me to sign up for their service based on their false advertising claims, and have repeatedly failed to meet their oral promises and contractual obligations. My experience with them leads me to believe that they knowing compel people to sign up for a service that they then do not provide. False advertising: They engaged in false advertising to compel me to sign up for their service. They called me every day to pressure me to sign up for their service by repeatedly telling me that they had thousands of men in their pool and indicating that they had tons of "matches" who would be perfect. That is, people who (1) fit my criteria, and (2) were looking for someone just like me. To assure me that they had eligible men who fit my criteria, they told me that they regularly turn people away and that they would not take me on as a client if they did not have complete confidence that they had a huge pool of men who would be a good match for me. I signed up for the service because of these false claims. They have not provided the service for which I paid (based on what I was promised). 1. I signed up on June 13. I was promised "tons of dates and matches", but they have not followed through on this promise. After 11 weeks I have only been sent on 3 dates. The 2nd and 3rd dates only occurred after I complained repeatedly by calling and emailing them to express that I wanted to be sent on dates. The lack of dates indicates that they lied about the "tons of men" who would be great matches for me and suggests that they do not have sufficient people in the pool with which to match me. **So, in other words, if they provide less than 1 date per month, you are paying about 300 per date. You are throwing your money down the drain because the dates are terrible and they make zero effort to actually provide you with someone who will be a match.** 2. I was told they would call me after each date to get feedback. They never called to follow up on the 2nd or 3rd dates. 3. I was told that they would schedule an in person interview with me after the 2nd date (at the latest) so that they could get feedback and improve their service. They never called to schedule this interview. 4. They told me on multiple occasions that they had new matches for me, asked for my schedule, and then never followed through to call me to set up the date. They then did not return my phone calls when I called to follow up. 5. Their customer service went from calling me every day to pressure me to sign up to not returning my emails or phone calls. I have complained repeatedly about (1) the lack of dates, and (2) the lack of follow up on their part. They have done nothing to remedy the problem. read more

Biggest waste of $!!!!! Matchmakers have no idea what they're doing. Matches me up with men that lived over 60 miles away and told me "for love you should be willing to travel". Really? On weekdays after work, traveling for over an hour in traffic to meet someone? Unrealistic! First guy they matched me with lives that far- was a gynecologist and all he could talk about was his work and politics. Second guy brought his laptop to the date and kept his phone on the table and kept checking it every time it "blew up". He also took a call during our date AND revealed that his attorney was also Drew Peterson's lawyer. Nice. Last date was an old Italian grandpa who made wine in his basement and played bocce ball. I'm DONE!!!! Nothing in common with ANY of the guys they matched me with. The "matchmakers" are barely out of college and CLEARLY CLUELESS about what makes a good match. It should be called "It's just hell." I plunked down my $1500 thinking that I would actually find someone who suited me -- I'm a hard person to match. That said, they repeatedly hooked me up with a trail of losers.. flight attendants, 300 pound sportscasters (I hate sports and specified this), a lawyer who told me i had crossed eyes, a neurologist with a personality disorder.. the list goes on. I had it after 9 dates and decided to put my membership on hold because it was a waste of time. When I didn't reactivate it after one year .. and decided that I wanted to try again about 18 months later, I was told that my membership expired as per my contract and I wasn't entitled to more dates, even though they owed me 3 more. My opinion is that they didn't get to know the clients, they had no idea who I was nor did they know the men any better. They gave me a questionnaire, took my photo and talked to me for 10 mins. I had no idea at the time that the people who talk to you work on commission and they'll do everything possible to ensnare you. They won't let you look at a book and see the people that are part of IJL already.. I don't need to see photos or names, but a bio sketch would be helpful.. .. Anyway, once you've signed up, they just wait a month until it's time for another date and randomly hook you up with some dude who is also due for another date. They have no idea if you're a decent match and just chalk it up to luck if it works. Match.com is so much cheaper and an equal crap shoot. EVEN UP TO NOW they call me all the time. It sounds good on paper, and in fact, it started out with some promise, but went rapidly down hill. I agree with the reviewer who suggested they have an extreme shortage of people - especially of single men - to match people with. If you don't find success in the first four or five dates, they'll start scraping the bottom of the profile barrel. I was matched with individuals well outside of my age range (decades outside) as well as outside other rather important criteria. And when I suggested that I come in and meet with the "matchmakers" in person so we could correct the obviously flawed profile they had, I was sent on a date to Schaumburg! While I have no evidence that this was their form of punishment, I have my suspicions. And now, they keep calling me to renew, as if I would ever revisit this massive waste of time and money. read more

IJL is the WORST!! I was an idiot and signed up a second time thinking I would give them a second chance. This was about 3 years ago and could not wait for the membership to end. The last date they set up for me was horrific and went home and cried. They do not listen to you and only want to make a sale. Over the past 3 years they continue to call and harass me. They call my work, my cell and my home leaving messages. I have told them on several occasions I would never use their service again. Additionally some of the messages they leave, they don't even say where they are from but I know the numbers by now and know it is them. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!! The quality of this service diminished greatly over the years. I used IJL years ago and had an exceptional experience- great customer service, met quality men, and felt the cost was not in question given the level of service. Life happened and I joined again recently well over 10 years later and it was terrible. The customer service was poor- the response time lagged, no one listened when I shared feedback, dates were poorly matched, and they even misled me with exaggerated professions of candidates. I am level headed and realize that it would take time for IJL to understand my preferences over the course of the contract and they did not. When I shared my dissatisfaction, I was told they met their obligation to the contract and that was it. Oh wait and how awesome I was and would I want to spend 10k for my Forever Man?!?!?! I was truly an easy going client for them. Perhaps it was my current age bracket that was the challenge, but go-forward cautiously. I relate to the reviews here and I chuckled a little when someone wrote they spent dates talking about the negative of IJL. After receiving an email about the class action lawsuit that just hit for IJL, I felt I needed to put a review of the services I received from IJL. My experience was not horrible for the most part. I signed up a for a 12-month package. (12 months/12 dates) deal. I was pretty open with my criteria to give me the best options for meeting women and not filter out someone who might work due to a little pickiness. I had only 1 item I was very particular about. I am a slender person and I was not interested in meeting anyone overweight as it would not be fair to either person involved. I actually got to meet 31 different women during my time there. And for the most part the women were smart, professional and easy to talk to. Unfortunately I was not able to connect with any of the women more than the initial meeting, with a couple meeting up a second time. So the service itself had plenty of available women whom I would consider my taste. The biggest negative of the service was of course the cost. I just do not see the justification for such a high cost when all they really did was set me up with the next person on their list. They didn't really do what the paid contract called for. The other huge negative was they wanted me to call them after each date and give feedback. They say this to "weed out" the characteristics I didn't like in that date to fine tune the next time and to set me up with a more suitable match. I was very thorough with all my feed back. Unfortunately there were several times where they flat out didn't follow any of the feedback and near the end they just stopped caring at all who they set me up with, just out to get their other members their date quotas. And the people that worked there were not very gracious or apologetic when I was livid after the third extremely overweight person they set me up. So when my time was up and they asked me if I wanted to sign up again (for an even higher cost than what I just paid) I said absolutely not. Their so called "match-makers" are not their to help you. They are just there to fill quotas. The goals of this company should not be to set you up on first dates, but to help you make second dates. Every now and then I will get another call from them "begging" me to come back. they have lots of great new women. It is not worth the costs. The concept is great. Last nite they set me up with a man who is 54, never married and lives with his Mom!!!! I am a type A personality. What on earth would they ever think I would have in common with this man. I know dating is extremely personal and it took me a while to consider posting this but I just had such an incredible experience with It's Just Lunch I had to write about it. I am an extremely busy executive with no time for dating at all. If I don't meet you at Starbucks which is about the only time I get out of my office then it's not happening! So I tried It's Just Lunch. Yes - good old fashioned matchmaking. I tried online and met some real characters. But having that personal touch I got at It's Just Lunch made all the difference. No not every date was perfect but they were entertaining and interesting and I found a great guy who normally -- I would have never met. The most compelling reason to join It's Just Lunch is the simple fact that if you are a busy professional, the chances of you finding yourself in a social environment conducive to meeting people of quality are very small. If I could write a review for "It's Just Lunch" using less than one star, I would. This service is very expensive and it's promoted as picking someone 'carefully chosen' who will match up nicely with you. This is NOT what happened for me. According to the men who I actually had 'dates' with, each had originally signed up as a paying client, but now they were no longer paying. They were on a kind of roster of men who could be called to periodically go on dates. It turns out I was not in anyway chosen to match their criteria: not one had seen my picture or had been told the first thing about me. They had simply been told where to meet, the date of the meeting and what time to be there. I was really shocked. I'd received 'a profile' on each of these men supposedly 'carefully chosen' for me, when none of them were any such thing. The original staff members I spoke with were very personable and appeared to be very willing to help me begin dating many years after my divorce. The individuals who actually did all the 'careful choosing' were much less so and very defensive when I brought up the issue of all the men chosen off the roster the men had mentioned. Very disappointing experience all the way around. Would never recommend this particular program to anyone, with the exception of someone who was looking to waste both their time and their money. read more

DO NOT DO IT. For a service that models themselves as a service for busy professionals, they're too busy to treat you professionally. You should also be prepared to sit down for an interview in which they get the profile of your match, then send you on dates with people you'd never go out with otherwise. To add insult to injury they of course call the next day to find out how the date went. Clearly they neither listen nor care. OH YEAH. ALL DATES ARE BLIND DATES!!!!!! Seriously, listen to these reviews, you're much better off on Match, POF etc., and its much much cheaper. read more

I agree with the other reviews. This service is very expensive and so totally not worth it. I can honestly say it's a service I would never use nor would I recommend it to any of my friends. I'm not sure what I was expecting but the dates I went on did not meet my expectations at all. My first date was socially inept and not anyone I would ever pick out for myself. I remember another date actually pulled out a picture of his mom and told me he thought she was totally hot when she was younger. All I can say is I couldn't get out of there fast enough. The problem was after having gone on 10 dates, my experiences were so dismal and a waste of my time and my money I put my membership on hold. I had still about 12 dates left. When I went to restart it, I was told I wouldn't be able to do that since too much time had passed and if I wanted I would need to pay more money. I certainly wasn't going to throw any more money down the drain. I wish YELP was around back then so I could have saved myself the money and time. I made sure I've told all of my friends to never ever use this service. I agree with one of the other reviewers, a service like Match is far better and a lot cheaper. When you spend quite a bit of money, you expect to get what you paid for but all you're left with is that you've been ripped off. The other very annoying thing about IJL is they call you on a regular basis to see if they can sucker you into joining their service again. I would just lie and say that I'm in a committed relationship just so they would leave me alone. My suggestion is if you're looking to find someone, go with something like Match or another online service, at least there you know what you're getting and can at least talk to the person via email or on the phone before you commit to meeting in person. I have to say the women at IJL are effective at closing the sale and making it sound like you've made a smart decision but once you start going on the dates, you realize you've been sold a bill of goods. Can i give this lower than zero stars? PLEASE do NOT waste your time or money with this service. I didn't, because the servises they offer are ridiculous for the price, but I did go in to see what they were offering. That was 7 years ago. I am now married with a child and they still STALK me. I don't know how they still have my info. I've begged, pleaded, threatened and yelled at them to please take me off of whatever list they have, but still, every couple of months they will call me 6-7 times in a day!!! I even blocked their number but they call from different extensions. Memorize their number: 312.644.9999 and do NOT answer. Apparently it's too late for me, but save yourselves!! read more

Avoid these folks like the plague. While they claim to have some logic behind the matchmaking, it's all really based on availability. If you challenge them on it, they'll come up with some flighty passive aggressive response. Now for the really interesting part: They will never stop calling you years after you've discontinued their services. First of all, the woman leaving the messages will do it in a cryptic fashion (e.g. "Hey this is Haley, call me back!) assuming you are stupid enough to not know it's their company. If you answer and tell them to not call, again they'll have some sort of flighty response. Occasionally they'll mention they've had a change in management, which is the only believable thing they say considering someone in their right mind also must have thought there were major issues. read more
