Gentlemen, Please stay away from this business. I was charged $2,500 and the quality of the women I have met have not even come close to what was promised. I asked to date professionals who are established in their careers and was presented with with women who are unemployed. I was told that I would see many women, but have only been presented less than 10 women in over 6 months. I'm very disappointed. I haven't signed into Yelp for a few years. Today I noticed a had a review I wrote in 2013 but never hit the "post review button." Better late than never: I held off on writing a review of Matchmakers of Chicago (MOC, also known as Elan Dating Services and Sterling Register) because I was so angry about what I feel is a scam and I felt I could only write a review full of emotion instead of one grounded in the facts of what happened. So, I've taken two years to cool down and wait for them to come through with an apology and a refund. I've waited and received neither. And lest you think I've forgotten details of what happened I'm writing this review with the email and print correspondence, written contract and notes taken from phone calls with them during the time I used their services. They put on a charming in person presentation about how much care they put into choosing the people they matched their clients with. When I asked how these men were selected they alluded to lists of eligible bachelors who used to pay for this service or are currently paying for this service. I paid over $1,000 of my hard earned money (which was never refunded). Here are the snippets from emails I sent in after my two problematic dates: ------------------------------------ Feedback I emailed MOC after date #1 on 5-27-11 "--MY DATE-- was 15 minutes late but was nice, polite and good looking. However, this cannot count as one of my matches because they are supposed to be based on my criteria. He was in the seminary for over 10 years and is now a VERY Catholic man: no sex unless it's in marriage and for the purpose of having a baby, anti-gay, etc. There is no way humanly possible that anyone who had even glanced at my file might think that could be an acceptable match. Its a clear fundamental difference in lifestyle and values. I told --MOC EMPLOYEE 1-- outright during our interview that I had just split from an evangelical Christian due to religious difference among other things. This should not be news to her or the rest of the team. Please forward this to --MOC EMPLOYEE 1 & 2--. Also, is my 2nd date still on for next Wednesday? And is it possible to make sure he's not a bible banging Catholic? Or any of the other deal breakers written on my intake form?" ------------------------------------ Feedback I emailed MOC after date #2 on 6-1-11 "My date didn't know that I was matched with him through a professional, high end matchmaking service. He was under the impression I was there like him, for a "free date to meet someone else in the database who had gone a mixer at some point over the years." He also said, with surprise and concern, "why would they pair you up with a free-loader like me and not someone else looking for a love match?" ------------------------------------ MOC sent me the phone numbers of two of their current female clients for me to call and ask about their experiences. I called one of the women only after I began to have problems with the service. She told me of similar experiences and the low caliber of the men she was matched with. I feel gullible for believing their pitch and dumb for not having called one of the other female clients earlier. I should have more aggressively pursued getting a refund. I was thrilled with my experience! I was impressed with the men I met. I am very happy to report I met the man of my dreams and plan on spending the rest of my life with him! I found the staff to be professional and responsive. I would recommend this company to anyone serious about meeting someone. read more

*UPDATE***I removed my post because I was asked to and obeyed at the time. I also talked to Victoria F. She had a very similar experience and nothing has changed. The owner said she was going to "take care of my program" I met with her in August and it's almost October. NO dates. She is really "talking care" of my program. Both of us are out of a lot of money. Here is my story: I had an interesting journey with this company. I am like many single women in Chicago looking for love. With the popularity of Millionaire Matchmaker, I figured why can't I pay someone to find me what I'm looking for without the awkwardness of online dating and the whole bar scene is a joke. I put my faith in the company and they let me down in a big way. I signed up after I had a breakup with my ex last summer and they had a year to find me someone, or I would have taken a decent date. I met the matchmaker at the time and she blew a lot of positive smoke my way saying I'll find someone and we are different, etc. With a company that has 20 years experience, you would think they would have plenty of guys in their database, not really. There is a "client liaison" whom you never meet. There is no real office, just in the complex. There were times where I didn't talk to her for MONTHS!!! If you are really putting yourself out there, would you really want someone to not talk to you for months?! I had to reach out time after time and keep filling out that form saying what went wrong. For almost $4000, you would think you'd be getting a millionaire or a prime catch lol, sadly no. I was set up with ONLY 3 guys IN A YEAR that could have been more WRONG for me or NOT EVEN close to what I was looking for. I came in many times and tried to talk about what I was looking for. I am not looking for an Abercrombie model, but an intelligent, good looking guy with a job, who lives in the city- let's start with that! Also don't even think about getting your money back! Even if you die, you can't get your money back. Do not buy into their company or what they have to offer you. I did and look where am I! I am more frustrated and stressed about going on dates from this company and I sent them a detailed e-mail about my frustrations and how my experience has done more harm than good. They proceeded to ignore me, the client liaison is away, and the owner has not called me when they said they would. I am done with the company and thought that others should know how bad my experience was so that no one has the same frustration and stress that I went through. I must admit, I was skeptical of this process at first but decided to go in for an interview and see what the company is all about. I met with Eileen and she was very upfront and open about her company. She spent the time with me to go over exactly what I was looking for and talk about my expectations. At this point I decided to give it a try, despite the posted reviews. My first few dates were with very nice men. There were no fireworks, but Eileen did provide me with exactly what I asked for in my interview. I understand it is all about chemistry. I am a professional woman, looking for a man of the same caliber. The men were successful, relationship ready, and invested in this process. I was on Match for a while and yes, I did meet a lot of guys and went out, but the professionalism was not there. Those guys seemed to be looking for a good time. The men I met through Matchmakers were polished, successful, mature, and genuine. Some of the men I still keep in contact with and have gone out with since our dates, and one of them I actually set up with a girlfriend of mine; they are now dating. After my dates I would call and talk to the client liaison and provide her with my feedback. This was beneficial for me because I thought I knew exactly what I wanted in the beginning of this process, but it turns out I was attracted to other qualities I did not consider. The feedback help guide Matchmakers in a positive direction for my future matches. My second to last match was a exactly the man I was not looking for. I am glad that I opened myself up to meeting all types of men because I probably would not have in the past. We are still seeing each other...it has been 4 months and we are going strong. After reading Mary C's account and one star rating (which I see has been removed after a few days after I wrote mine, because like with me, the owner said she would work something out with Mary), I see that this company is still making promises that they can't deliver and I am sorry that they are still continuing to mislead people. Like Mary C's review before mine, I also had a very unsatisfactory experience with Matchmakers of Chicago. They used to be called Elan and Sterling Register. The men they set me up with initially were nothing like what I had said that I wanted, This company has changed their name many times because of all of the complaints that they get. What I realized was that they didn't really have the pool of men that they said they had for me. I flipped my lid after they set me up with my 3rd date (which was last the last of 3 promised) with a man who was grossly overweight, when I specifically stated - "No over weight men." I was so angry, that I wrote many bad reviews on complaint sites. The owner realized that this was hurting her business, so she said that she would "work with me" until I was satisfied. I have to say that the quality of those dates were a little closer to what I had said that I was looking for, but the last one was way off. To tell you the truth I could have done better myself on a free online dating site, than what they did for me. On their second try even when the men were closer to what I had asked (two of them fit more or less my criteria, but one said that he was not ready to date, and just before my date with the second guy I received devastating news so the date went very poorly - not their fault), however I was very disappointed by my last match, and the owner indicated that that would be their final match for me. In the end, spending that money was a waste. I hope that they will eventually deliver on their promise to Mary and others. They made more of an effort with me, after my complaints, but on the whole, I was dissatisfied. read more

Told that was okay as things change during the dating process. On my behalf, I didn't call back to re-establish the connection within the year. Maybe not ready yet? But then did email later and asked for a call back. Never heard from Sophia Young. Forwarded email to owner, Eileen, to let her know I did not receive a call back from Sophia as a followup. I learned about Matchmakers of Chicago and met the staff through a mutual friend. I was very pleased with the conversation, care and interest the staff took to listen. They gave me complete and thorough information about the services and beyond in terms of meeting people who are both clients in the service, friends of the staff and more - which I thought was great since it only opened up the opportunities for meeting more people. I felt confident with the staff's abilities, they were flexible and thoughtful, understanding, organized, and supported my needs in a way that worked best for me. I also found that the staff was always open to answering any questions I had, even before an interview was set, so that I had the information I wanted, and felt comfortable moving forward without any pressure. They even explained that after the in person interview there was no pressure. I also wanted to make sure I was ready to move forward with it so that I was not wasting the staff's time either. I went into working with Matchmakers of Chicago with an attitude of meeting people in a different way than I have in the past and to open up any opportunity, but was not the only opportunity. The staff at matchmakers are well aware and supportive that even though two people may sound good together, only the two people that meet can decide the rest from there. When I was asked about being introduced to someone, I spoke with the staff for 30-45 minutes about the other person and there was no pressure about proceeding. I was able to ask any questions I wanted and found the staff to be supportive during the process. The staff arranged the entire meeting, time and place, and coordinated our schedules. The rest was up to the two of us. I have met one person in October 2016, and happy that I have been enjoying what I have learned about him so far during this short time. If nothing else comes from this, I have met someone who I feel is a good friend, funny and similar but different in a complimentary way. He has also been supportive and thoughtful - which has only made my quality of life with the people I want in it, better which is important. I have also learned more about myself in this process, also very important. For me, these are all great things. Ask questions, keep learning, stay true to yourself, be upfront, smile, relax and enjoy. Would this happen without Matchmakers? Maybe, however, in this case it did, so thank you. read more

I have been very impressed with the amount of effort and energy Eileen puts into finding a match. I am a somewhat picky person, to a fault sometimes, so I know I am not super easy to deal with. However, she has provided matches that have all been great, educated and down to earth women. Unfortunately, the chemistry hasnt quite been there for the few dates I have been on, but it is promising to see how dedicated MMOC is to helping find a great match.
