I've had ~~One Date~~ just a couple days ago. The match was "right on" as my Match Coach, Ariel, tended to every detail making sure we had similar interests, were close in age, comparable backgrounds, and even both of us having a Special-Needs Grandchild, etc. It was a good start, with a first date. They say it gets better, which I would hope, but IJL has their work cut out for them to find another matched date that ticks many of the boxes. I believe IJL is separating the Men/Women from the Boys/Girls and that's their justification for their pricing. Good Luck Ariel! My daughter used IJL's service with exceptional success. She and her beau are getting married next month. That's what prompted me to give this dating service a try. Never did this before. My future with IJL will be determined by how much more their service will cost me. I will definitely want more "*bang*" for my dollar. I'm disappointed that IJL charges such high prices for just one try of matching their clients. I never went to lunch expecting to come out engaged. LOL However, I thought I had many dates available over a 1 to 2 months period, that were covered by my initial cost. I want a good friend to do things with and enjoy being in the moment. I should have followed my instincts and paid attention to the reviews. First match was unavailable, second match was caring for a sick mother and no longer available. Third match looked old enough to be my father and was a rural hillbilly. I think the first two matches they sent me were a ploy. very dissatisfied! Gave it a one star because it wouldn't post at ZERO stars. Unless you live in a major metropolitan area, this service is not for you. Very few dates were offered. I expressed concern about their coverage area, I was led to believe that they had plenty of clients that met my criteria. The customer service is poor, often requiring multiple phone calls and emails prior to getting a response. When I did get a response, my concerns were disregarded. My experience is that they do not provide personalized, professional matchmaking service. I feel I was misled. I do live in a smaller town, and I initially asked the question about availability of dates and was assured this wasn't a problem. Everybody that was presented to me lived 2-4 hours away. This is an extremely expensive service. I feel I did NOT get service that equaled the price. I did ask to change matchmakers, my initial request was denied. I joined It's Just Lunch at the beginning of March of 2024. I was very excited about the possibilities that I would experience with using the service, but I was hugely over promised what has actual been delivered. I was placed with matchmaker who ended up not being competent and was fired from the company. Instead of anyone reaching out to let me know and that I would have a new matchmaker, I had to consistently reach out to have someone get back to me. My very first date using the service didn't show up. Other candidates were not in the realm of what I was looking for. Instead of being honest about the quantity and quality of men, I feel like and have been strung along. I took a break after I found out the matchmaker was fired, only to restart and have my first date not show up. She told me she was looking at single men in my area and that there were literally 100's of men in my age range who fit my outdoorsy personality. She told me I be on at least 5 dates in 2 week. It was all a scam! I have had 3 dates for in over 2 years. NONE of those men fit what I was told about their professions or interests and the pictures I was shown were several years old. I just wouldn't do it. You would have better luck on a dating app. I feel I was so clear about what I was looking for, and would be fine just waiting to meet someone. Here is the thing. If they send you someone you aren't into and reject meeting them that still counts towards your total matches in the contract. So, you would think my explaining the type of person I am interested in would have a lot of weight, right? wrong. I've been sent so many people I just am not into or attracted to. They really are just looking at things through a filter to see if all the boxes are checked. And the boxes are super vague (like do they have kids or not). The sales woman, Jen M., went on and on about the amazing matches she had for me, including - of course- ha - the well traveled handsome doctor she had just signed up that day that would be perfect. Well, guess what I got? Don't even bother. The guys were so bad, especially the one who looked like my dad and was wearing gray sweats in his selfie. BTW, even though they are supposed to give you 2 pics for each match, they didn't have another of him...wonder why? Their contract is so broad that you don't have much recourse, except for the fact that IJL is supposed to only give you Matches that meet your 3 parameters of age, religion and parental status. Much or their staff are located in Florida and have NO knowledge of other areas of the country they service. Many work 12pm - 9pm Eastern, which is problematic for people who live on the east coast and expect or require contact in the morning. I signed up for the 24-date plan over 12 months. That is NOT 24 actual dates with a human being. A date counts for every introduction they make to you WHETHER YOU GO OUT WITH THEM OR NOT. They have introduced people outside of my stated dating area, people that do NOT match my dating requirements or profile, people who I have already seen on other dating sites (i.e. match.com, CMB, Bumble, etc.); I even got stood up once!!! Their "matchmakers" are horrible! They do not return phone calls, they miss phone appointments, and their customer service and senior management are downright rude (Julie Yarworth)!! This company is terrible! An absolute waste of money (that I am now trying to get back). I feel completely scammed and taken advantage of. I signed up for a 3 month program (3 dates in 3 months) at the end of July, it is now the end of September and I HAVE NOT BEEN ON A DATE. The first matchmaker I was paired with was completely unprofessional - he made rude and snarky remarks about my not wanting children. He then matched me with someone who lives over a 2 hour drive away, in a different state (of course he didn't initially share this with me) when I had specified I only want to meet guys in the NYC area. The second match lived 3 hours away! I then asked for a new match maker, who I was first excited about, but the third match (the first guy I was somewhat excited about meeting) was cancelled due to him cancelling his membership. It's very clear to me that once they get your money they run away with it, and do absolutely nothing for you. When they do remember you exist, they set you up with people that match none of your criteria. I believe they don't have enough people in their database so they keep presenting the same people to you over and over again. All they want to do is take your money and arrange 2 lunches - or these days - 2 zoom meetings, regardless of whether your 'matches' meet your criteria. In my case, I was only interested in meeting people who are geographically desirable. Living on Long Island, I pleaded with the 'matchmakers' to find men on Long Island or, who would be OK traveling to Long Island. The 2 zoom meetings were with Brooklyn and Manhattan residents, who were also not interested in a Long Islander. I originally asked about their success rate. They did not respond. What they don't exactly tell you is that any potential Match that they propose is considered a Date - so you pay $1,000 for 3 Dates and then they show you a "Match" who you don't like so you say NO and that counts as a Date - $333 down. I specifically said no fat guys - (I'm 5'3 120 - I don't want some big fat slob) the first guy they sent me was gross and fat so of course I said no - oh well, $333 gone. Please be advised that I am unclear of which office of IJL I used because I only spoke with individuals over the phone but I feel it necessary to warn people about IJL. DO NOT use this service. You are much better off using Match.com, Eharmony.com, hell, even Tinder. Their sales people are way too good. Kate was able to convince me to join and gave me a false sense of security and reassurance and even offered me a $100 discount (which they would actually use against me!.."well you only paid $750 not $850). She even claimed to have several matches already lined up for me to sift through (not true). I then learned I would be set up with a match maker as the person who sold me the package was only the sales person. Aleisha was nice enough but no where as "good" as Kate. I joined November 1st and despite having "multiple candidates" I did not actually receive my first "match" until the 15th. The match, which was presented in flyer format (see attached, identifying data was removed) was mediocre at best and given their enthusiasm about having multiple matches for me I opted to hold off. Especially since they only guarantee one date! The second candidate was sent to me January 4th!!!! 2 months after signing up! This candidate was not even close to what I was looking for. I also wish I had read these reviews before I gave IJL, $2,800! I can relate to something in everyone's reviews, & am in full agreement that the most accurate rating would ne zero stars. When I first started to get their voicemail messages, I ignored them, until finally one day I was home, possibly tired after a long day, and I answered the phone. That was my first mistake. After a brief interview conducted by an energetic young sounding woman, I agreed, and paid the $2,800 on a credit card. She told me IJL is a global company, that they have a pool of clients from around the world, and that by early the following week, I'd have my first date. She left out a lot of important information about IJL. During the interview, I specifically said I did not want to date a man who was never married. I am 65 and feel it raises a red flag if a man is between 58 and 73 and never married. I also prefer someone with adult children, retired or still working, and NOT live in New York. New York people don't like to come to New Jersey, ever. I completely understand. My fiasco started on May 1, and I've yet to go on a date. First I had to meet with a face to face IJL person. This was one of my early disagreements. I was originally told IJL had an office in Fort Lee, where I live, however when it came time for the ftf meeting I was told that my option was Princeton, a 90 minute drive, NYC or someplace out on Long Island. Actually the person trying to schedule the meeting argued with me that the location was just a few miles away. Clearly, she knows nothing about the logistics of commuting into NYC. The person I had my ftf with was one of two people I've dealt with who was honest. He lives in jersey City, and completely understood why I did not want to date someone from NYC. I placed a number of calls and sent emails which were unanswered, even one hang up when I mentioned my name, and when I sent an email and cc'd every employee I had dealt with, someone from Management called me, and I was given a new dating search specialist to work with. She has also been honest with me, and told me my hub is NYC, and there's nothing that can be done about it. Now, I'm waiting for a call from Management. One last thing. Twice they wanted to fix me up with the same person, 67 years old, never married, no children. Then there was a man who only graduated from high school, and now another man, never married, no children. I don't think they know how to listen, or anything about being in a service industry.
