    Gluten Free goodies.
    Janice M.

I've been shopping this market for over 20 years. I go back to the days when the restaurant and the store were one, back when it was in its original Main Street location. Before there was a "NORA". This market has always been slightly overpriced, but it has gotten better over the years. They have also improved on their selection of goods in all of the departments. The gluten free selection is one of the best in the area. They have pantry staples, frozen foods and bakery items. I recently purchased a pint of Halo Top here for $6.50. It's a little pricey, but this Diabetic needs her ice cream! The prepared foods have come a long way from the days of egg rolls and pizza (though the egg rolls can still be found in the case). There are assorted salads, pastas, sandwiches and other miscellaneous goodies. While here you can visit the juice bar or even drop off a letter at their USPS counter. There are tables and chairs outside, to enjoy your purchases.

Great store and products. Got me a very delicious smoothie from them. Highly recommend if you're in the area.

I stepped into it's only natural for a healthy lunch option.. I decided to have a health food salad due to the fact that the sandwich and smoothie bar was closed at the time .. I have to say after reading all of the reviews and seeing how rudely the staff has treated its customers I was pleasantly surprised that the girl behind the cash register was very friendly.. she actually commented on my salad and said that she loves chickpeas !! Because she was so friendly I decided to stay at the store and have my lunch I am pleasantly surprised and will be back again

Green Pear Smoothie (12oz / $4.99) - Banana, Pear, Pineapple, Kale, Spinach, Orange Juice, Apple Juice

I am apalled by how ION Marketplace sells an extensive variety of health-related goods at utmost rediculously high prices. The only reason I would ever return here is to dine-in at the mini café/ juice bar. Today, I ordered a Green Pear (12oz) smoothie for $4.99. I liked price of the smoothie slightly more than the taste (which is enough to satisfy me. LOL). Moreover, this establishment provides a spacious parking lot for ION customers.

Does anyone know if they still have the kombucha on tap, and if so what the price is for a growler? Thanks!

Be careful to double check some fruit. There have been a few times in which I purchased strawberries or blueberries and such and there were a few moldy pieces in the package! This is not the norm though. They have some big name products and the ones that aren't are still great in quality and the cheaper price makes it even better. I love that they have a section for household products (pots, pans, utensils, rugs, candles, etc). They also have a pretty good desserts selection. The double chocolate creme cake is to die for. Big parking lot, Bright aisles, shelves are nice and neat. Con: Sometimes the cashiers through your items in the cart especially if it's busy. They are timed but I don't care about time when my yogurt bursts open and I have to go back and get new ones. :-(

The stocking is inconsistent so I can never rely on being able to get the products I come in for. This is particularly true for buttermilk which I buy weekly. Yes, it is a specialty item but the store is plenty large enough to keep it in stock and perhaps carry more than the one expensive option offered. In terms of the other selection, it is hard to find unusual ingredients and yet there does often seem to be a decent selection of tropical fruit. The bakery has very mediocre bakes and an average selection at best. There is nothing truly horrifying; I mean to say the place is relatively clean, no vermin, nothing that could actually get me to stop being lazy and go somewhere I enjoy shopping. This particular branch is pretty basic and low-tech. Finally, the staff and employees are a mixed batch that kind of breaks down to be 25% spiteful, 50% ambivalent, and 25% pleasant. If you have better options or more motivation, head elsewhere.

Ortiz is long gone, but it's former shell is still operating as "Los Primos" Yes, I said bodega, because essentially this is what Los Primos is. Not only can you get the most incredible latin food, but you can also buy Faygo soda, Lottery Tickets, Cheetos & a "Loosey". Dont be "scurred" by the appearance, and don't let your apprehension stop you from enjoying some of the best latin food around. You'll undoubtedly have to bypass the riff-raff that congregates near the front door, but once you get inside the smells of sweet plaintains and freshly cooked pork waft through the air. A steam table near the back is filled with the delicacies of the day. Roasted Pernil, Chicken Legs in Adobo, and Steak simmered in peppers & onions. Yellow Rice & Beans, and Sauteed Plaintains. Fried Pork, Empanadas & Renello De Papas are in the warming cabinet up front. Lunch containers come in 3 sizes ($4 for small, $6 for medium & $8 for large), and come with rice, beans, plantains and your choice of meat. You can also buy meat by the pound ($6.99). Trust when I say this food is addicting. You WILL crave it again and again, and find excuses to make your way back to middletown for lunch time. Keep in mind that it's lunch time only, and they only make a certain amount of food, so once they're out, you're out of luck. I'm also not sure if they cook on weekends, or if they accept credit cards (i've always gone on a weekday & paid with cash). You can easily get away with lunch for 2 here under $15 and be completely stuffed. Go and enjoy a place that I used to keep in my secret stash...
