My husband loves Smoothie King and he always orders the same thing, Island Impact. He loves Smoothie King because he likes that it's blended well, smooth with no fruit or icy chunks. He is a tough critic when we go to other smoothie places. I don't usually opt into getting a smoothie myself because of my strawberry allergy. Most of their smoothies have strawberry in them. This location in Newington, went above and beyond. The staff were able to swap out the strawberries for another fruit! They were so kind and helpful. I got the Pineapple Surf, replacing the strawberries for raspberries! I don't know if all Smoothie King locations would make this accommodation and if you are highly allergic to something, take precaution for chances or cross contamination. It was just nice to enjoy a smoothie! We return to this location often because we are always in the area. Last time, I learned they had a special menu that the shop put together. The smoothies were dessert themed and I got Blueberry Cobbler--which didn't have any strawberry. This Smoothie King's service is always fast, never too busy even in summer, the shop is cool, and very clean. Without a doubt, we will be back soon since we are always in the area. It is disappointing to have to write this review, but I believe it is important to share my experience. I visited the Smoothie King location on the Berlin Turnpike three times in a row and observed a concerning pattern with one female employee who consistently appeared to prioritize white customers over me. On my first visit, an older man was already waiting. I was the only Black man standing there. I am a polite, professional individual with a good-paying job, and I try to be considerate of others. Although I was waiting patiently, two Caucasian women entered after me, and the employee bypassed me to take their orders. The women apologized, and I reassured them that it was not their fault. I gave the benefit of the doubt, assuming there may have been some confusion. On my second visit, after I placed my order, the employee repeatedly set my order aside to prepare smoothies for Caucasian customers who arrived and ordered after me at the register (they were not picking up online orders). The third visit occurred today, June 29th, around 1:00 p.m. I even paid for the order of a white customer who arrived after me as a courtesy. Despite this, the employee prepared his smoothie first. She then took the order of a man and his two sons who arrived after me, apologized to me, and served my smoothie last. There was nothing complex about my order that would explain the extended wait. After these repeated experiences, I am concerned that this employee may be treating Black customers (or minorities in general) differently by serving white customers first. This is unfair and unacceptable. I respectfully request that management look into this matter to ensure all customers receive equal and professional service. read more

I went to Smoothie King to pick up something cool and refreshing. I decided on an açaí bowl. This place is pretty basic inside, most people came to pick up their orders. There are a few high top seats by the window. I noticed they had some unpleasant handwritten signs through the store, such as "no restrooms", "an additional cup is $1" and the worst one "the prices charged may not reflect the prices on the menu..." I got the PB Delight Bowl. It was ready pretty quickly. I was surprised how much smaller it was compared to other places where I've gotten açaí bowls, especially for a place with "King" in the name. This was a pitaya base, with bluberries, goji berries, granola, banana and a thin layer of peanut butter on top. It was $13. Despite all of the sweet toppings, the base was more tart then sweet, it was also a bit watery. This was ok, but far from my favorite. read more

Came in the first time with a BOGO coupon. Lines were crazy and we waited a while. Second time, no one else was here and we were served quickly. Weird since these were both Sunday afternoons. Nestled between TMobile's fushia colored logo, Subway Sandwiches & in the shadows of JoAnn fabrics large red sign, I almost missed it. It occupies small retail space, the interior is a blend of Ben & Jerry's ice cream meets GNC-LiveWell, all while clean and bright. I ordered the 20oz Coffee High Protein with no extras added. Courteous, quick, friendly service with the option to order ahead online. Good size for $7.68 ($1.00 tip) = $8.68 It tasted airy with a milkshake consistency. Coffee was mild but the taste of protein was prominent with an occasional crunk of almond. It was definitely smooth and not icy probably because of their high quality blenders. CON: I would have liked a smaller size option which is available under a different menu. PRO: I'm still feeling content & not hungry after 3hrs. I ordered the activator recovery blueberry strawberry smoothie yesterday (8/9/24) and the smoothie didn't taste very good , it tasted watered down and bland.... I have ordered this drink in the past a few times and it usually has a slight sweet and tart taste .. this drink I ordered yesterday tasted like there was just the powder and ice... when I called this store to ask to speak to the manager, the person who picked up represented himself as the manager. I mentioned that the drink didn't taste the same as before and wondered if something was missing and he just said OK. We LOVE Smoothie King...the smoothies are always our favorite. However, there seems to be a staffing issue at this location. Coming here on the weekends is always a nightmare unfortunately, with only 1 employee working trying to manage a ton of mobile orders as well as never-ending walk ins. We ordered our smoothies before even leaving our house, were given a quote time of 20 minutes, and STILL waited an additional 20+ minutes in the store. So much for ordering ahead of time read more

The smoothies are great, but the management is a nightmare. They are a franchise and I have had multiple issues where they will not honor the promotions that corporate has sent out. Luckily, corporate has always made amends but the customer service at this store leaves a lot to be desired.
