I cannot say enough great things about Jan and It's Still Me. During my first visit with Jan, she sent 2.5 hours with us- teaching us about different wig types, trying on different styles and finding a perfect color. As a cancer survivor herself she had a lot of insight on what to expect when losing hair and offered some things to consider about the process (like how long it might take your hair to grow back - something I honestly hadn't even considered being so focused on treatment.) I found a wig I liked and she had it ordered in the color that suited me best. About a week later I was back in the office and she spent a good amount of time making sure I was comfortable putting it on and handling it properly. Also going over how to clean and care for it. I found Jan due to her high reviews on Google and Yelp, and they are well deserved. I think three things that everyone list about Jan are very true. 1) She handles all of her clients on a one on one level. There is no big box store environment where dozens of people are around while you are being attended by a part-timer who doesn't care. Jan is very informative, and remember, in MN since Jan 2025, it is law that insurance covers wigs for hair loss. Must have a doctor's note that this is due to cancer. It must have the wig receipt state that it is a cranial prosthesis, and it maybe only limited to 1,000 per benefit. 2) Which brings us to the name of the salon is "It's Still Me", very appropriate, because she goes through alot of different types of wigs both synthetic and real hair, and even looks at pictures to try to help find you. Watching my wife's face go from sad and frustrated to happy, enthusiastic, and accepting that she could do this and will not be as bad as she thought was worth the price alone. 3) I don't think you can put into words the feeling on having someone that knows what you are going through and can relate. It's one thing to ask nurses, doctors, Google, Siri, about hair loss, and scalp pain, but having her tell you the tips and explaining to you ways to avoid pain and different ways to wrap your hair. I can honestly say I have not met anyone as kind and caring as Jan in a long time. She is very sensitive and thoughtful as she guides you through the process of trying on wigs. My mother has (Had. She's in remission now) cancer. Diagnosed in November. To say the past six months have been difficult is a gross understatement. For a woman, losing your hair is just icing on a very shitty cake! This is what brought us to It's Still Me Wig Shop in St. Louis Park. Jan, the owner and operator of It's Still Me Wig Shop, is phenomenal. She has survived her own cancer battle and really "gets it". She handled my mother with dignity and grace. She thoroughly educated us on our options and helped find a perfect solution. In the end, my Mom has a darling hairstyle to sport while her own hair grows back. She loves it so much she may choose to wear it even after! If you or a loved one is going through a difficult time or is simply experiencing hair loss, I definitely recommend Jan. Jan (the owner) is so compassionate and understanding and she really wants to make you feel comfortable and get what is exactly right for you. You need to make an appointment, and each time you visit is one-on-one with Jan. Jan was absolutely wonderful! I came to her studio with my sister and husband for a private appointment and we found what we thought was a perfect wig for me. However, when I went to pick it up I thought the color was a little flatter/duller than I expected. Jan said "no problem" and let me return it for something different. I wore my wig for almost a year and just recently packed it away. Most people had no idea it was a wig and it was very comfortable too. Every interaction I had with Jan was great. I can't say enough good things about Jan and her wig studio! I came to Jan with abrupt hair loss from chemotherapy. I was not at all sure a wig was a good option for me, but I wasn't at peace with head scarves alone. I was anxious about my appointment at Jan's studio, and the process of evaluating my appearance with wigs. Jan put me at ease immediately. She spent over an hour with me at my first appointment, teaching me "Wigs 101" and trying on innumerable types of wigs, colors and styles. Jan made it fun! I did not feel the least bit of pressure to buy anything! I did end up buying a basic wig in a silver color with a foxy cut (different from my own hair) and I wore it home that day, smiling all the way. I have loved wearing my new wig! I can't begin to express my appreciation to Jan at the "It's Still Me Wigs Studio" in St. Louis Park. I really liked that she made appointments with clients on a one-to-one basis and also is a cancer survivor. After purchasing 2 wigs online, I learned that is not something you buy online. First of all, both of the ones I received did not look like what they did online and the colors were all wrong. In addition they were too large (they only had average-sized ones) and too much hair and did not look natural. To add insult to injury, they charge a 20% restocking fee. What a rip-off! Anyway, I met Jan today and walked out of her shop with a wig that is perfect. It's very similar in style to how my hair was styled before I lost it and the color is very similar to mine! Jan took the time to first explain the types of wigs, then measured my head to make sure it would fit properly and then tried on the wig I was interested in. I did not have to look any further. Jan then went through the steps to properly maintain your wig. I was so impressed and highly recommend her shop to anyone looking for a wig. read more

Jan is a very nice woman and very informative when it comes to wigs. I was diagnosed with Hodgkins lymphoma stage 3 and was going to lose my hair in 3 weeks after starting chemo. I was SO emotional I loved my hair and all I could think about was getting a wig before chemo even started! My cancer center recommended Its Still Me. I thought well she had cancer as well so I trust her. WELL I tried on the wigs (when I still had hair) thought it looked fine, I paid SO much money because yes I wanted the best (without realizing MUCH CHEAPER wigs looked just as amazing) I got the wig when it came in (still had my hair) so I tried on my wig and approved although the hair in the front kept falling in my eyes Jan ensured me it would "eventually" sit the way I wanted. WRONG. When I lost my hair not only did the front line look horrible and unrealistic the hair STILL fell in my face like it was meant to have bangs but was never cut. I was and STILL so upset and sick to my stomach from the money I spent and she wouldn't even let me return it for full or partial refund when I tried it on ONE time after my hair fell out. I felt so fake and so unrealistic when this was supposed to make my bald journey easy. I have friends who paid WAY less for real hair and it looks VERY realistic. I feel taken advantage of and so disappointed that money went to something upsetting rather then making me feel beautiful. I get there are laws but I was bald and I tried it on for 5 min, and contacted her immediately when she is the one who ensured it would be fine and fall together. WRONG. Young women I highly suggest you go elsewhere read more
