I searched high and low (including online tutoring sites that let you choose your tutor) the outcome was fruitless.  Tutors who swore to have years of experience either were not as familiar with the material as they claimed or could not eloquently TEACH it. Also, the companies that charged ridiculous amounts like $150/hr did not show much for it. I know this because when trying Tutor Me LA, I also hired another tutor from a high-end tutoring company and Tutor Me LA's tutor was not only cheaper but MUCH MORE proficient.  We needed a few tutors - A gmat tutor, LSAT tutor, and a Math tutor. EVERY SINGLE tutor Tutor Me LA sent over was great. Their Guarantee took any hesitancy we had about scheduling a session and now I see why. Since the shelter in place occurred with the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020, my son required more support in school assignments and homework. He is a good student overall and I grew concerned when I saw that he scored a 68% on a reading comprehension assignment. I then tried to help support him myself, but quickly realized it became too stressful. It was at that moment when I saw his frustration, that I recognized we needed a tutor. Hiring a tutor was one of the best decisions I have made because my son gained knowledge in writing skills and tips in reading comprehension, all while enjoying and learning new skills. At the end of the school year, he had a reading comprehension test and scored a 95%! I was with Annie for 4/5 years on and off (7th grade (pre algebra) - 11th (pre-calc)) and even a little bit of Spanish in between! She was there to help me in person and through skype with all my math difficulties. From homework sets to the Final exam, Annie guided me through math with her techniques, practice and patience. She was always able to take whatever concept I was learning and tailor it in a way that I could understand. If there was something I could not wrap my head around she would break it down step by step until I was able to answer the main question at hand. She would give me practice problems outside of whatever work we'd do to make sure I had it down. Now she's not a tutor that will serve everything to you on a silver platter. She will make you work through it on your own as best you can. What I love about Annie is that she never gave up on me. Even though I hated math (still do lol) she believed I could get through it. She became more than a tutor for me! She knows her stuff and she is undoubtedly the best person I would come to if I ever have another math question again. But its a good thing I got better at it :)
