I totally understand that these reviews are very important for penny lanes business. This is why I took the time to write out the review. For parents seeking child care for their children and wanting to make the best decision. Actually, some of the things that you stated in your reply was very inaccurate such as my reason to leave the daycare. We left due to having so many incidents occur and the lack of incidents reports being made and also lack of accountability. Most of the time my daughter was sent home from daycare with cuts and bruises. Teachers were unable to explain what happened due to them "not being around" or "leaving early for the day" so she was left in the care of substitute teacher and no one in the daycare could find whichever "substitute teacher "was in the class in at the time to explain the constant injuries. Also, on August 11th I was called into penny lanes due to my child having a busted lip and chipped tooth. I expressed my concerns to the director of the daycare Ms.Laura she responded back to me and let me know if I wanted my child to not have so many incidents I needed a nanny. Which I was completely token back by. I understand things happen in a daycare but as a director for that to be the response back to a concern parent is very insensitive. Also, to double back to the abrupt departure. Laura allow us to leave without putting in the 2 week notice due to not us moving but me being so uncomfortable with my child being enrolled under you guys care second longer. Her last day was that Thursday morning November 6th due to another unreported incident. My daughter was enrolled in for a year. I have never once received a weekly paper meal plan in advance. My child was there 5 days a week and 8-8.5 hrs a day. So I understand that health and safety is the utmost importance but it's seems like the ball was dropped multiple times with my child. Also, is always a lack of accountability. This is not the blame game. If I'm paying for a good quality daycare I expect the best quality health and safety for my child. I left the review for parents to understand that penny lanes daycare of oak lawn does not provide this experience for each and every child. Also, if you need for me to provide any proof I can. What I love most about this place is their staff, their level of care, patience, and attentiveness goes far beyond what we could have hoped for. Its rare to find a place that combines such high standards with genuine heart, but Penny lane (Oak Lawn) does exactly that. We are incredibly fortunate to have found them and would recommend them wholeheartedly to any parent looking for exceptional care. Not sure where to even start. John Humphrey KinderCare was under the leadership of Mary when my son…read morewas attending. My son was sick almost weekly. They barely cleaned. I would pick my son up and he would have boogers on his nose/face dried up and crusty. When I would give my child a bath at home after the day, he'd have dried up feces on his underwear due to them not wiping the kids after they use the restroom. The teachers in each class were young, inexperienced, and ignorant. Anytime I made a complaint about the care of my child (that I pay them for) they would gas light and manipulate things to make it my fault that they were not caring for my son properly. I also witnessed a couple of the teachers getting super impatient with the kids and sometimes toss them around and scream at them, it honestly broke my heart. The manager Mary was the worst part of it all. Instead of taking the responsibility for her own KinderCares failures, she decided to blame the kids! We did look at another daycare but I didn't feel comfortable. We finally talked to Melissa at KC-John Humphrey and gave it a try. To be honest I wasn't thrilled about the idea of a "commercialized" daycare. Melissa and all the staff/teachers are absolutely incredible. They made the transition easy. They even helped and accommodated as we transitioned our son from home purees to table food; from formula/BM to dairy milk/water. We saw so much growth and development in our lil guy after just a couple weeks. The app is great for communication and just seeing how our son's day is going/went. They are very diligent about children's health. Although it was hard, our son had to stay home a couple times because of sickness that had similar symptoms to Covid (but wasn't). I can appreciate the effort. I wouldn't want other kids to expose our son in the same situation. They followed up on his "sick days" just to check in on him. The ONLY reason we are leaving this center is because we're moving to Elgin. We've only been going to KCJH for about 5 months and will truly miss the team. They genuinely care about the children and families. On another note, our transition to an Elgin KC has been seamless as well. We look forward to the same caring staff up north. For all the new parents struggling decide to send your child(ren) to daycare in the OP area, send them to KCJH. You become a better parent because of the reduced stress/mental break and the child(ren) love it.

I also remember getting yelled at in front of the class by the "Spanish" teacher.. she basically reminded me in front of the class that I don't have an A (it was a B) she ranted at me as though I was failing the class.. The school would also say some offensive stuff about Catholics (They don't like catholic beliefs). It's okay to not agree with peoples beliefs but it wasn't very Christian like and it is in appropriate. How could a school so Christian have so many questionable behaviors. It was so odd! It was a strange time period that I will NOT miss. (Maybe it has changed since then but this was my experience)

We saw some red flags at the school after the first year of sending 2 of our children here. One of our children was held back due to failing one class, and barely passing another. Both of those classes were taught by the same teacher. We hired a tutor for the next year and that child's grade went from an F to a C with only having a once a week tutor session. That speaks volumes. This teacher continued to NOT teach class. The school did not discipline or replace. Instead the "smartest" student would often teach the class. Our kids were often put down by the teachers with such phrases like "I don't even want to be teaching." Or "I don't get paid enough for this crap." It was obvious these teachers were unhappy and they passed that onto their students. Last fall, after trying to communicate with staff about our child's bad grades, we received no help at all. We realized that after 2+ years we were doing our children a disservice by keeping them in this school. We made the choice to enroll them elsewhere, but agreed they should finish out the year at PCCA. However, this spring an incident caused us to pull our children before 3rd quarter was over. After we made the school aware of the incident, they circled the wagons. They lied, covered up, and downplayed the incident. No apology, no remorse, and no repercussions. Since pulling out our children we have been homeschooling them. We have tried to get documents and our children's schoolwork from them, only to be running in circles. They have refused to allow us access to our children's Google classroom so they can get their work. When they finally allowed us access, everything was DELETED. They refuse to send us research papers and class notes. This behavior speaks volumes to their integrity and just how much they care about their students. There is so much more, but for the sake of my own sanity, this is where I will leave it. My children will have scars from this school and (most) of the staff there. But "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." God has already been working through this awful experience, and I hope that our experience will help others.

We can't be more grateful for how they've helped our boys flourish socially and academically. Teachers from years ago still remember our older boys' names and always put smiles on their faces. Every teacher we have had has been nurturing and positive with our boys. Their ability to relate and work with children on their level is nothing less than inspired which allows my wife and I to work full time without concern around his level of care. They are a valuable resource in the community which has helped create a well rounded social environment my son ensuring that he will be well adjusted as he transitions into this next phase of education. This daycare used to be a great facility before the COVID lockdown last year. They were in a…read moredifferent building. The rooms were bright and organized. They had great teachers. The parents were updated all the time on the Brightwheel app. I received regular updates about how they were doing. When everything closed last spring, Bright Beginners moved to a new location a few buildings away. Their "dream" seemed to be to open a whole bunch of classrooms (instead of two) so kids can spend more time with children their age on their own level, which is a great goal. Unfortunately, starting with this move, everything unraveled. The building isn't great. The rooms are small and dark. Many don't have windows. Only two were being used: 1-2 year olds and 3-5 year olds. Instead of keeping their website updated, as teachers quit (and a lot of them were unhappy with the lack of leadership and communication), their images still remained on the website. No one's profiles were updated. No new teachers have their credentials listed, or even their pictures. Teachers appeared and vanished and the parents had no idea who they were. Then, the schedules disappeared from the website. The website has pictures from 3 years ago. Not only is the website outdated and incomplete, most teachers stopped using the Brightwheel app to communicate with parents. We used to get videos and pictures throughout the day. After the move to the new building, I would be lucky to see one picture of my son in a week. When I would ask how he was doing, I was usually told by the teacher, "I don't know, I wasn't with him today." No progress reports. No information. His clothing started vanishing. He came home wearing another child's underwear. What's worse, is the staff seems to have the hardest time wearing masks. We know it's the easiest way to prevent COVID and yet, some keep their masks on their chins. Some under their noses. Some not on at all. When you ask the teachers about COVID, most state it's not a big deal or "assume" they already had it. They seem unaware that having it once does not make you immune, and they also don't realize that they can easily be carriers without symptoms. Then the pull their masks down and breathe all over our children. The center is more concerned with "ratio" than they are about the well being of the children. Instead of keeping rooms open, children of all ages are combined so they can have as few teachers as possible at the center. Never mind the fact that they're overwhelmed and the kids are having a hard time adapting to new rooms at random as well as other children, all they care about is not having one extra teacher there for one hour because they would probably have to pay her $10 for her time. As a former elementary school teacher, I assure you in school they still teach that children, especially young children, thrive from routine. This center has no problem shuffling children around and confusing them as long as they don't need to pay one more teacher for one more hour. When they did have COVID scares (and they did), they were forced to close the entire center because of the insane amount of mixing they do with teachers and students. Also, you will never see the director or assistant director unless you show up during the day. Most parents bring their children to daycare because they work, meaning the children will be dropped off before work and picked up afterward. The director and assistant director make zero effort to ever come in early or stay late (which means their teachers are responsible for opening and closing the center and addressing issues) which shows you how little they actually care. Shortly before I switched daycares (my son no longer goes here but I did want to write a review to warn other parents), the center started a newsletter which I thought was a great idea. However, it's not filled with any content. I didn't know what concepts or information I should be going over with my son. Knowing he's learning about "the letter B" isn't helpful: he's known that letter for 3 years. I thought Preschool actually meant the children would be learning. A coloring page? How about the center informs you IN ADVANCED of the days it will be closed in case we don't keep our handbooks open on our kitchen tables. How about it informs us of new policies and procedures at the center? How about future improvement they can make to the center? Perhaps information about how to obtain a progress report? What improvements, you ask? Perhaps label the 20 doors in your hallway so we know which one is the kitchen, which one is the bathroom, which one is the preschool room... Or replace your mud pit with sod so when the children come home from playing outside on a damp day we don't have to throw away their entire wardrobe? Perhaps invest in a sign on both of your doors so people actually know this is a daycare? I used to love this place. It's very sad what happened.

I highly recommend them if you want your little one to excel and surpass the other kids once they get into kindergarten. That's not just me either. When we went for a tour Ms Debbie and all the CCC 2 staff were very friendly and answered all my questions. I enrolled my 3 year old for 3 days a week and she loved it from day 1! She even asks to go everyday now. The staff is very caring and friendly and my daughter comes home with tons of projects and learning activities. Summer is filled with a bunch of field trips and plenty to do. I absolutely love this school and would recommend it to everyone !
