TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE at this specific location, My family is new to Mokena, and Ivy League was our first choice. I was expecting staff members who are friendly and caring, equipped to meet the needs of all families including diverse families like my own. This was not the case!!!! My 4 year old received so many punitive responses from her Montessori teacher she hated the center and tried to run out often. She did not receive a warm welcome which would have went a very long way with a 4 year old little girl. Me being an educator myself expected to see teachers who had a genuine passion and disposition for working with energetic children, NOPE! I was actually pulled to the side by a staff member who informed me that the staff, including the k-4 teacher was "targeting my kids"!!! My 4 year old was suspended and a couple weeks later kicked out!!! Maybe IVY league is great for some, maybe many, BUT I don't think they are a good fit for any high energy, vicarious, "child of color" or minority child. We had a party here and it was amazing!! Alicia, Justin, and Franca were so helpful with setup, facilitating games/dancing, cooperating with our food delivery, and just all around so kind and wonderful!! We opted for the upgrade with the popcorn machine and bounce house-both were a hit. All of our friends raved about how great and fun the party was. Went there for a kids birthday party. The gym area was ok, but the rest of the place was filthy. The walls in the party room & bathroom were horrendous. Dirt, old food & drink and God knows what else was dripping on the walls in the bathroom & by the tables in the party room. They had a sign on the door, indicating the party, that said "tips welcome". What exactly would they be getting tipped for? They sat at the desk by the door. They were basically there just to let everyone inside. Parents take care of everything else. I would not recommend this place, based on the cleanliness. read more

The actual staff at Ivy League are beyond unreliable, lack of common sense, zero accountability!! I've been charged even before my kids started!!! Paid 3 weeks on because they can't seem to find common sense! Why would anybody pay a month before they start!!!!???!!! I take my card of file! If there is a balance bill me! Period! 2 months later they do it again! I expect my refund! No it will not be left as a credit! The staff at my kids school are pretty good. I am 2 steps away from going back to KinderCare!! This is a great place to have a boy birthday party. You rent the place and you can have many kids. Order in your own food and let your coordinator oversee the party activities. They play soccer, dodge ball, kickball and basketball. Value for the price is great! read more

Ivy League Kids - Child Care & Day Care Near Me - Mokena, Illinois

I know there are a lot of positive reviews for this place but please consider this review before you send your kids to Ivy League. We sent our two girls to Ivy League Mokena for three summers. Two of those summers were during Covid and so things were obviously less organized and more chaotic because of this. The first summer my girls mostly loved it and I think that's because it was mostly unstructured and because they had a lot of friends there. They also tried to bring them to many different places as much as possible but the reality is that this "summer camp" is essentially a large indoor gym in a strip mall. Fast forward to this year 2021 and it is night and day. The staff is so disorganized that they say they will do something like making sure your child is not scheduled for a particular day they are normally there and it doesn't get done. My children said many of the counselors are "mean" or simply unfriendly. The promise to apply sunscreen to your child but my younger daughter came back red on her back multiple times. I then asked the staff about this and they denied it when you can see her skin as clear as day. They also said at the beginning of the summer that masks were required for anyone who was not vaccinated but almost immediately they never enforced this. I know some might think that's ok and I'm not saying it is or isn't one way or another. The point is that they said they would enforce something and they didn't. They said they would apply sunscreen and they didn't. The point is that they do not follow through with their promises. This also happened when they didn't schedule my children correctly, which resulted in us being charged for days they weren't there. I noticed this at the end of the summer and I called to investigate this. I spoke with someone and she stated she would look into it and call me back. A week goes by and she never called. I called again and spoke with a different person who said she had no record of this and could not see anything about this in my children's account. I explained the situation and the days in question we were charged for and she said she would investigate it. Another week goes by and I did not get any response. I called again and left a message on their voicemail on a monday and did not get any call back. Today I then went to the camp and spoke directly to the woman who agreed to look into it and she said she had been so busy she didn't have any time to get to it. I explained that it had been quite some time and that I had spoken to two people (one of which was her) about this issue and never got any response back. She kept asking me who I spoke with the first time and the implication was that I never spoke to anyone. I confronted her about this and said that the point was I spoke with someone who blew me off like she was also doing. To be clear, the amount of money that is in question is somewhere between $200-400. It is possible there is a misunderstanding about these dates but again, the point is that there was no follow through or even a response to my inquiry so that it could be addressed. She also implied I wasn't being patient. This was a very frustrating accusation given that it had been at least 2 weeks without any response, possibly three because I can't remember when the first call was made. Bottom line, this place is disorganized, disrespectful, and the atmosphere for the children seems unsafe. They are usually running around without any structure when they are picked up and it seems like they are not doing anything constructive much of the time. They are allowed to bring electronics and my children say that many of the children there are on their electronics for long periods of time. read more

Awful childcare services. Unreliable, untrustworthy, unapologetic, disorganized, unqualified. They are supposed to pick up my son from school and in a month I've gotten three calls from him asking if they are picking him up. He said they often pick him after all the parents and school buses have left. This means he's left standing alone outside of the school. He is 11. He told me that he has to wait on the bus after school 30-45 mins because they don't drop him off at the rec center but go to the next school that finishes later. Today when I called to see if the bus was picking him up, they didn't know if there was a bus and they didn't know who he was. Absolutely egregious. And nobody called to apologize. They had nerve to call and ask if he was going back tomorrow. Not if he was ok. Not that they were sorry. DO NOT send your child to this place. They are not trustworthy. I've used afterschool services that had high standards. I'd get a call within minutes if my son was not where he was supposed to be. Ivy League didn't even know they had a child named ------- who had been going for over a month. And there isn't that many kids that go there! I am new to the area and chose them more out of lack of options. Do NOT send your child there. read more

My 6 year old has been attending the before-school program since the beginning of the school year. At first he was able to be dropped off at his school, but they cancelled it due to low enrollment, which is understandable. I now have to drop him off at the facility in Mokena, where he is then taken to school. Obviously it was more convenient the other way, but I understand their decision. Maybe next year they'll have more kids signed up and I can drop him off at school again. They were very proactive in giving notice that the school program was cancelled and offering a couple different alternatives. The prices are not bad, a lot better than what I was anticipating, so that was a relief. All of the staff I have interacted with have been nothing but friendly, polite and helpful. I would definitely recommend Ivy League to any parent. read more

My kids love Ivy League! They have great field trips for summer camp and offer horse camp for an extra fee. The staff is wonderful. They offer du off school programming as well. I love that my daughter can attend before and after school care right at her school during the school day. read more

My daughter was sick, and I kept her out of school for two days. The two days she was out of school as the days she usually attends the Ivy League after school program at Oak Glenn Elementary in Lansing, IL. I checked my online account and they billed me for the two days even though my daughter was not there. I called the phone number and I spoke with one rep Sydney and she told me that she would not adjust my account. I asked to speak with a supervisor or manager above her and I was connected to Cindy Scroggins. She informed me that this was the policy and that the company does not honor sick days and I would have to give a two week notice for anything. I then asked if there was a phone number or email for someone above her and she said that you can call her but she will not return your call. Cindy Scroggins response was very unprofessional and should not have left her brain and escaped her mouth. Her tone was very condescending and uninterested in what I had to say from the start. As with every business the goal is to acquire new customers and keep the existing customers content with the level of professionalism and customer service provided. This cannot be the goal of the Ivy League of Mokena, IL. I would give them a negative 20 in that department.I will be finding another provider to send my child to for after school care. I would also recommend that if you are considering them for before and after school care at Oak Glenn Elementary DO NOT. I wish there was another company that could take over the contract at the school. I am not stopping here I will be sending another complaint to the school district. read more
