For our birthdays, Gord and I don't buy each other anything ... instead we gift each other a massage. So we had an hour long "Wine and Dandy" massage at iwa Spa in Blue Mountain Village. The hot towel compresses smelled of crème brûlée which was followed by agave nectar massage oil. Very nice! Then a half hour laying in the Ganban Volcanic Rock Studio listening to a relaxation meditation ... had it been longer, I would have fallen asleep! It was a joke the entire experience in fact! The masseur did not ask you whether there was any sore spots in your body that needed attention. The massage was basically like running oil onto your body, and rubbed around, and only on neck, back, lower legs, and shoulder for an hour service. And the masseur in question did not even bother to ask you whether the pressure was strong or light. And in fact, I thought I had a body rub massage than a proper professional massage. In my request, it listed as RMT certified masseur service, but I really doubted of that claim. As for the pedicure, it was even more joking. They soaked your feet, massaged, and then cut your toe nails, and that was it, no cutting off your dead skin or anything. I in fact checked on my feet afterwards to see whether my feet was dirty or horrible that the therapist might not want to do my pedicure. However, I have pedicure services on almost no-weekly basis and I do think my feet are well maintained. My partner had same service on that day and he got the same treatment, so the poor service was not only experienced by me. Finally, we had facial treatment, and despite better experience, but it was still not the same as those received in professional outlets. I guess this is a tourist site and it targets on tourists, but by paying more than $300 per person for all these treatments, I feel it was a big rip off and only being served by a company which hired amateur or half-trainee staff to service it's clients. Had a good experience here. Staff were nice, place was clean. My boyfriend and I did the Couples Connect package. I wish a little more guidance in between the sessions were more clear. At one point we were wandering around wondering where to go for our next treatment. It was quite expensive though so probably will not do it again. read more

I really wasn't sure what to expect from the warm stone yoga experience but once I entered the room, I felt relaxed! The warm stone floor was so comforting and soothing and made the yoga class unlike any other I've tried. I loved the stretches and will use some ideas after working out. I booked my appt online which was very convenient. I showed up for a massage about 15 minutes early. Everyone was very friendly and a lady offered me tea and water while I waited. Each massage room has Sonos music, so you can choose what you listen to during your appointment. The service was very good, and it was a fantastic way to start my day. Clean and private massage rooms. Very convenient 2 minute walk from the Westin, where we were staying, and I'd imagine most any other place in the village. They've only been open a few weeks, but they seemed very well run and I would definitely go back. read more

Iwa was such a delightful getaway before returning to work, university and high school this cold and stormy January. Unique restorative yoga on hot rock, accompanied by inspiring readings was transcendental. After four of the best massages ever, our family enjoyed delicious tea and chocolate overlooking the mountain. We also picked up high quality and very reasonably priced wellness items at the boutique, including repairing hand cream that smells good enough to eat. Just had my second experience at Iwa Spa, with David as my RMT. As a chronic neck pain sufferer for years, and someone who has turned to massage for treatment, David has truly been the best. His ability to find every hidden pain point is beyond amazing. Every time I travel to Blue Mountains with my family, I now put Iwa Spa on the itinerary as the best possible gift to myself. :) The entire staff are friendly and welcoming - it's now one of my favourite places. read more

I loved my first Iwa Spa experience. I booked online about a week before which was really easy to do for a couples volcanic rock gaban session. We arrived on time and they gave us some delicious chocolate and some water as they were cleaning the studio from the previous occupants. The staff provided us with slippers and showed us the facility and explained how the volcanic rocks worked and then let us be (which I for one appreciate). The volcanic rock (which are supposed to be very therapeutic and help with a variety of ailments) experience was excellent. The room gets quite hot (about 40 degrees) so if you are not a fan of heat then this is not the experience for you. We got about an hour in the room to relax and mediate which was fabulous. I came out feeling refreshed and relaxed. Billing was super easy, they kept my credit card on file and charged the booking and a yoga wrap I purchased to my credit card. Voila no need to fumble with my stuff. The staff were wonderful and accommodating, I highly recommend. read more
