IX Art Park is a great place to hang out, especially on sunny days or when they're having events. The host many mini festivals and the farmers market every Saturday. I love coming to the market and meeting all the vendors! This is what introduced my friends and I to the area and brings a ton of publicity to IX. I particularly love the vendors they choose at the market and the activities (like free Tai Chi classes)! The Sun Soleil Farms vendors have wonderful honey and everything tastes like real lavender! Critter butts is a funny company with unique stuff. The jam and tea company is lovely too (profaniTeas and Jam by Daniel).

This place is amazing and there is a bar at the end of the exhibit . The bartender was so friendly, the drinks were amazing. This is a hidden gem. They want you to touch the exhibits. There's a ton of hidden gems all over. This place is amazing and so unique.

A fun and versatile space for all sorts of things: craft fairs farmers' markets beer fests live music etc It's nice that right next door you have the row of businesses starting with brazos tacos, and on the other side now there is Three Notch'd brewery, so if you're at IX for a market or festival, there is other food and drinks and things to see nearby. Plus its a short walk from the downtown mall and there is plenty of parking available, so it's always a convenient stop.

Such a cool experience and i love that theres a bar at the end. Lots of little hidden gems. If you visit on a Saturday, come early so that you can go to the farmers market- they close at 12.

What a cool little park! Took a random trip to Charlottesville and this art park popped up on the google search results. I did expect the park to be large and a bit more formal but it was everything but. We almost didn't even recognize it until we just happened to have tacos next door and this gem was nestled footsteps away. It's a great place for folks to be expressive, take endless pics (try the jumping in mid air photo), play with the kids toys and simply enjoy the outdoors. There's some bits of seating areas where you can just kick back and enjoy a picnic if you wanted to. The "before I die" mural tugs at your heart strings because while some are light hearted and silly, some folks write the most intimate messages. The "LOVE" cut out was also cute to pose by and was a large reminder that love endures all things and love never ends. What also really intrigued me is there was a barrel shaped sauna on the premise, though it was locked. Boo boo. Would have been super nice to get to try it out! If you happened to be in Cville, check it all out! I bet the artistry changes from season to season. It's a beautiful way to admire what our fellow community has to show us.

Kinda hidden behind the main roads, this art park is such a cool vibe! Having a brewery within the park, as well as a nice taco place adds bonus points. I came here with my dad and we both added it to places we have to check out again. Such a cool stop!

We came for a "through the looking glass" interactive art exhibit (tickets $15). The art park space is a nice place to sit and hangout, as there's murals on the walls and outdoor seating. It was nice knowing that the artists were local and that they were taking extreme precautions to prevent the spread of COVID amongst patrons (masks and required, max 10 people per showing, an hour in between each showing to clean). Overall though the art exhibit was overpriced considering the exhibit was only a single room and I didn't see too many ways to interact with the art.

It's hard to pin down exactly "what" this place is, and easiest to say "where". Essentially it's a Cville dreamer's haven for those who are creative at heart, or simply those who love sharing and supporting those creative hearts. It was in the early months of Spring 2015 that I stumbled upon this lovely little Narnia-esque public space. The snow was still hard packed as far as the eye could see and the first glimpse I had was of what seemed to be a large natural igloo crafted with tree branches. With further inspection I quickly saw that this dome was one of many unique works in the IX Art park that were accessible and easy to interact with. To my joy, I found that you could walk right up to the piece and look in! My favorite to date would be the book themed work that allows viewers to interact with the piece by taking and contributing their own literary pieces. I appreciate how much these pieces encapsulate the community feel of the city! Standing in the parking lot of the old Frank IX and Sons factory parking lot, you'll find this hidden sculpture garden surrounded by bold lively graffiti and local art. The IX Art Park is located behind or in front of the old Frank IX and Sons factory depending on which direction you're coming from. If you're careful, you can even see it from Monticello Ave. While it's technical name uses the word "park" it is a happy host of many different things. Throughout the year this public space is home to many local activities, events, and festivals. More recently, FleaVille has taken root on Saturday mornings to bring you local crafts, food, and artisanal items. Additionally, in the Fall, Tom Tom Founders Fest is bringing their annual Fall Block Party. However, there are live performances throughout so be sure to check often! I highly recommend stopping in if you're in the city and looking to indulge in a unique experience right near the Downtown mall.

The IX Art Park is a nice venue for a variety of events. Having been here only a few times, I have been able to witness some of the very interesting events held here including the Dog Festival which was an a great way to bring members of the community together to share their love for their furry friends. The artwork itself in the park is rather interesting and definitely gives off a modern vibe as part of Charlottesville's area for all ages of people to get together. I would say it is a pretty clean area with plenty of parking which is always useful especially for crowded events. Hopefully I can make it back to the IX Art Park sometime for another event sometime soon or just to appreciate some of the artwork it has to offer. 8/10 would recommend

My Wahoo daughter brought me here during Family Weekend, and now I totally get why this place is a UVA favorite. The building itself is part of a beautifully restored historic industrial complex off Preston Avenue. It's an adaptive-reuse space (formerly part of the old Coca-Cola bottling works), and the design keeps that industrial character alive: tall ceilings, exposed materials, and a layout that feels open, social, and easygoing. The outdoor area is especially smartly done. They've got roll-down fabric walls and overhead heat lamps that keep the patio comfortable even when the temperature dips. It's basically an all-weather beer-garden vibe, and it works. Here's how our meal went down: * Shared starter: the Jumbo Bavarian Pretzel. Warm, soft, perfectly salted, and killer with both the mustard and the cheese sauce. * My entrée: the Local Steak Salad -- gorgeous presentation, tender grass-fed beef, and those pickled turnips, radish slices, and greens in herb buttermilk dressing absolutely tied it together. * My daughter's entrée: Bratwurst, which disappeared quickly, so that tells you what you need to know. Service setup is counter-service for food with table drop-off, and drinks are ordered directly at the bar. It's efficient, friendly, and gives the whole place an easygoing "European beer hall meets Charlottesville neighborhood spot" feel. Kardinal Hall is one of those places where good food, good architecture, and good energy all line up. If you're in town -- especially visiting UVA -- this is a must-stop.

Once the ceremony was done, we were ushered downstairs for drinks and hors d'oeuvres while the main floor was prepared for the reception dinner. The downstairs had a bar, dance floor, seating on the perimeter of the room and behind a door labeled Employees Only, were two rooms decorated as a library/sitting room. I believe the happy bride and groom used those sections as their staging area/dressing rooms. The whole downstairs area had a speakeasy vibe. Once the main floor was readied for dinner. There was a table listing the seating arrangements and there were several rectangular tables set up for eight. Everything seemed to flow well and the staff was very nice and were accommodating. We chose to work in the kitchen space on the second floor. The design and decor here is gorgeous. I found myself wishing I could take some of the artwork home. Just like our Common House back in Richmond, they offer member events. They sounded so fun I considered driving back to Cville just to experience them. While we were there, we ordered some food. The food we got was beyond delicious. I'd argue even better than the RVA food. The menus vary based on location. I got a delicious miso salmon bowl. My body was craving something like it and I was thrilled when I found out how delicious it tasted. My boyfriend got a grilled cheese and loved each bite. However, this past year things really started going downhill. There has been a huge staff turnover, including several staff members who were really the life and soul of the place. Common House has not been able to keep a chef for more than a few months, which has lead to a lot of hit or miss dining experiences. The free coffee, which was a big perk during coworking days, is no more. There have also been several private events that caused full house closures to members. The final nail in the coffin for me was having my membership fee raised not once but twice over the course of a year. The first time ($25 increase) I was given ample notice. The second I was given no notice and just saw an additional $35 on my credit card. When I inquired about why my monthly membership fee had been increased I was given no response. With this, I decided my time at Common House has run its course and canceled my membership. This has seemed like the perfect "third space" for remote young professionals like myself, but it seems that in the last few months several others have had the same thoughts I had and decided to leave. It will always be a cool space, but the current management leaves a lot to be desired.

The sheets caused some skin irritation, and I wish all hotels used the most hypoallergenic detergent available. From a service perspective, it was quite good. I was offered an early checkin and also took a late checkout, so I got a ton of time with the room. They also stored my luggage, including various baked goods, after I was done. So I got a lot of value out of the room. The question to me was how this hotel would compare to the others that are in downtown Charlottesville; would the experience be worth a bit more than the more standard Marriotts or various others. I was not convinced that it would be worth spending the extra money on.
