    Avocado toast with egg whites
    Gitansh B.

Amazing ambiance in what looks like an old bank. I ordered an iced coffee that was solid as well as the Avocado Toast with egg whites which had jalapeño peppers, some greens, tomatoes, and an aioli on it. A satisfying meal that filled me up. The presentation of the eggs was not what I expected, but it was still great overall. Definitely a great spot to get some work done! Ample amount of outlets

    Porchetta sandwich. Phenomenal!

Great coffee & work space. Perhaps the most elegant space in CVille for getting some work done and enjoying a coffee.

I've enjoyed everything I've had when I've visited including coffee, lattes, and smoothies. The price is comparable to many coffee shops but the portions seem more generous resulting in a better buy. They have cute gift baskets and gift ideas if you're looking for a way to be a blessing to someone you care about while supporting an awesome business with a beautiful purpose. The space is nice, bright and always clean. I'm looking forward to them opening another location someday as I am not working out as much as I should and don't get to the Y as much as I'd like. The second is Kindness Cafe + Play. I've been a loyal patron for ~4 days. I learned about KC+P about 2 weeks ago when I ran across pictures of employees posing with bottles of Mountain Culture Kombucha; I made a mental note to try KC+P ASAP. My first visit was 4 days ago. Unfortunately, I arrived near closing time (noon) so I had limited time to scope out and enjoy their fare. I requested a Blueberry Bar from Found.Market (basically Blueberry Cake), Grit Coffee, Water. I got briefly acquainted with the founder, Katie, and was impressed with her devotion and how it is expressed and executed at KC+P. I asked about Mountain Culture Kombucha, and was told they were temporarily out, but would be getting a shipment soon. Good enough for me. The Blueberry Bar was delish, and the Grit Coffee made an excellent pairing. On each dining table was a small sign advertising a Fritatta for $5. Mmmm. Next time. I told Katie I'd return Friday. I returned Friday. Arrived about 9am. Ordered the Fritatta, Coffee, and Mountain Culture Kombucha. I settled down at a largish table, booted my computer, and surfed, checking my upcoming appointment at UVA Medical Center. A server brought my food in about 3 minutes. Note that KC+P has touchless serving. I slowly savored the Fritatta. Excellent. I would call it a Personal Quiche, but what's in a name? A rose by any other name would smell as sweet. And sipped on my Mountain Culture Kombucha / The Ginger. Always good. The dining area comprises a few circular tables and large sofas, all spaced well apart. Very good Grit Coffee. Very good Kombucha. Very good snacks. Über cheerful staff. While the parking lot is quite large, I have yet to snag a space near the entrance. The ladies' room is very clean, as is the rest of the building. I look forward to returning. Frequently. KC+P is relatively new, but is a wonderful asset to the community. It is exactly what one would expect in a beautiful city like Charlottesville. "All people have values and gifts to share." Katie Kishore

As usual, I'm looking for the best coffee roaster to go to, and Lone Light Coffee was on the top of my list in this area. The coffee shop is on the smaller side, but it was warm and comfortable. The baristas were nice and three of them gave me their input on which single origin I should choose for my pour-over. POUR-OVER - MKT Price +6.50 for Mohammed Aba Nura - Ethiopia (tasting notes: Strawberry, white chocolate, hazelnut) I wanted the craziest tasting option they had, and they recommended this one since it's pretty popular and well-liked among customers. However, one of the barista said he didn't really like it himself. I figured I should still try it. The sips I had while it was still warm was pretty juicy and sweet, but I really didn't like the notes once it cooled down (about 20 minutes later), which tasted sour and off-putting. I should have listened to that one barista and went with a different single origin option. Overall, good roaster -- just unfortunate that I tried something that wasn't for me. The baristas seem knowledgeable and passionate about their craft. I would love to come back next time and try another single origin offering.

The baristas are excellent at making coffee, friendly, and the seasonal drinks are creative. They have a cardamom syrup that's delicious in lattes. The shop itself is very cute, with a handful of tables and stools at the counter. There's a couple of tables outside too. I wouldn't recommend trying to get work done here during a busy time since it's not a huge space.

I saw online that they did empanadas and coffee (what could be better?) and we knew we had to visit. We live in Indianapolis and visit Che Chori often for empanadas, so we wanted to try Cumbre's breakfast options. I got the sweet corn + cheese, my husband got the ham + cheese, and we each got a breakfast bacon + eggs. I loved them both equally, but if I really had to choose one over the other, then I would say the sweet corn + cheese was my favorite because I love anything corn. They were the perfect temperature to bite into, we didn't have any trying to ooze out everywhere, and they were so flavorful! I also grabbed us each a Dulce de leche pastry and I thought it was the perfect balance for being a treat while not being overly sweet. My husband said he thought it was very sweet, but I thought that the pastry part was not sweet at all, so the dulce de leche filling in the middle balanced it out nicely. I also ordered a matcha latte and got a caramel latte for my husband. The 2 men on staff were very friendly and the patio was fairly busy when we stopped in. We opted to eat in the car on our way to the park so we could get to our hike faster, but I would love to stop here again and sit outside in the sun should we ever be back in Charlottesville.

The decor was really cutesy and they have a full bar. Service was very slow, but friendly. It looks like such a fun spot to meet up for cocktails or a boozy coffee, so I would love to come back if we are in Charlottesville in the future. There was also a nice mix of people there- older ladies having drinks, middle aged couples getting snacks and drinks, and groups of younger college aged kids getting coffee and studying.

Once we ordered our drinks and ordered our appetizer, we realized that the menu had changed from only hours before. Though only two replacement items replaced what we thought would be "house dishes", we ordered accordingly and waited 35+ minutes for the food. Once our entrees were served, my girlfriend's chicken in place of duck was unseasoned and bland. The Cassoulet I ordered featured undercooked beans and maybe three pieces of chewy and rubbery sausage. As a place heralded for their cocktails and cuisine, we were both grossly underwhelmed and disappointed by the service and food.
