IYE #2!!! Andy and Lauren did an amazing job putting this shin-dig together. It wasn't 100% private, but we did get to share this event with some "interesting" people. We had our 1 comp drink, our private entrance, access to the Photobooth and reserved space (belly bars). The comp food provided were little bites, and there was a live band that played some really cool hits! We were in the open air foyer/outdoor, so if you plan on coming next year, wear comfy clothing! I got to watch a little of the preview for this upcoming year and I'm interesting in watching some of the dance shows that will be coming to town. The Center for Arts is a beautiful venue and FREE parking! Great to mingle with some of the North County Yelpers. I met a couple of new people who I never met before and glad we connected! Again, love the small intimate events so that you are able to talk to everyone within the group. To my old school crew though, it was awesome hanging with you! More good times to come... Thanks again Andy and Lauren. Keep up the good work!!! #mcispimp

My first time at an IYE - and my first as a +1! (Thanks, Maria C.!) I didn't know what to expect last night at this Season Preview Party, especially as it wasn't really a private event and the majority of the guests present had this... entitled, I guess is the best way to describe their attitudes. Case in point: Judy S., her friend, myself, and an older couple had found a table and were sharing it when the couple that had vacated it previously came back to retrieve something they'd left... and in the process spilled Judy's friend's drink. Not only did they give a half-hearted apology, they didn't even offer to replace it. Who does that?!? (Not everyone there walked around with that kind of attitude, though - the couple we shared the table with were just as shocked at what happened, and in fact were quite entertaining.) But, those of us Yelp Elites that showed up still had a good time regardless. We made the most of our 1 free comp drink (thanks to Judy, I now know that the best way to use a free drink is to order a Long Island Iced Tea!), enjoyed the free bites of sushi, pasta, and Greek food (the hummus and gyro were quite tasty), and the sample of Menchies' Cake Batter frozen yogurt made for a delicious dessert. I even got to have a few samples of Stone Brewery's potables - as always, they went down smooth. The Tolan Shaw Band was actually pretty good, and we had fun taking numerous pics at the photo booth while commiserating with friends new and old. (Yelp Elites + free photo booth with props = great times!) Plus, after looking at the brochure for the CCAE season, there's a couple of events I plan to attend, chief among them Ben Folds next February. Great job, Andy & Lauren! Yelp NCSD is honored to have you! And thanks to the CCAE staff for showing us a taste of their season! As always, see you all at the next event!

Did not know what to expect for this Season Preview Party and was amazed at how fun it turned out! I knew there were going to be food vendors there but I didn't know how much food, so we went to Vintana Wine + Dine for happy hour before we went to the IYE preview party. Wish we hadn't eaten so much at happy hour! Even though we weren't hungry we still sampled a bit of everything, the penne Alfredo, sushi rolls, hummus and dips, and Menchie's frozen yogurt! I love the performing art center and the venue. The night was a perfect warm summer night. I actually looked up the band before going last night, the Tolan Shaw Band, and they were good! While they were packing up I realized I knew the guitar player as well. Small world! Thanks for the Yelp swag and putting on another great event!

Thank you Andy and Lauren for putting together such a fun experience! At check-in, we were given our drink ticket and let loose into the large crowd at CCAE's Lyric Court for their season's Preview Party. The Tolan Shaw Band played and we jammed to some live music. The crowd was definitely feeling it, sitting around, beverage in hand, bopping their heads! There were some nice bites to be had. Tasty pasta Alfredo, Mediterranean food from Ali Baba's, sushi from Sushi Yama and Froyo from my beloved Menchies! It was nice chatting it up with Yelpers I hadn't met before. I'm finally beginning to recognize familiar faces! We bonded over antics at the Photobooth and we definitely had (one too) many laughs there! Thank you Yelp and CCAE (and their many volunteers) for the memorable evening.

Overdue review, but yeah! How wonderful it was to be on the list for this Intern Yelp Event! Though the smaller Yelp contingent shared the space at this event, I was impressed by the public turnout at the CA Center for the Arts Escondido Season Preview Party. The space was packed to the brim with people enjoying music, tasting samples, and drinks. While the bites and sips were lovely, it was nice to rub elbows with other Yelpers. Congrats Andy & Lauren for putting on a fabulous Yelp event! Props to you guys for highlighting appreciation for the arts in the NCSD community. It was a swell time, thank you!

This was an amazing event it was a beautiful evening filled with great music... The vendors did well with their food from yogurt, to hummus and sushi... Awesome event! Thanks Andy and Lauren! This event was a little different from last year because we were sharing with other people. It was nice to see the Tolan Shaw Band again. The last time I saw the Tolan Shaw Band, it was at House of Blues for the San Diego Music Awards Nominees show. I got Cake Batter and a chocolate frozen yogurt from Menchies and those were pretty good. I had the chicken skewers and I think those were from Ali Baba and those were pretty good. I certainly liked the sauces and the hummus. I had the pita which was good and I thought the pasta was pretty good. Oh and I had the California Roll and spicy tuna roll from Sushi Yama. I ordered a drink from the bar and I was hoping they had Moscow mules, they didn't though. So instead I just asked them to make some cocktail with fruit juice.I'm pretty excited about the schedule. Can't wait to see José Gonzalez and Ben Folds!

made to the 2nd IYE...missed the first =( our yelp interns Andy & Lauren kicked butt! we joined the folks of the Escondido Performing Arts to a party that included 2 food stations, a full bar (we had 1 drink ticket each)..and a photo booth (with no lines!) it was a very fun and unique evening of entertaining.

Super fun! My first IYE event that I was able to finally attend...the first one I got in I had to cancel my RSVP because of a family event.. Besides that, this was awesome. Andy and Lauren, great job putting this party together! Bf and I got there a little late and was able to sample the pasta and bread (sushi just ran out as did any froyo) and grab a well drink. There was a photobooth, some tasters, drinks, Yelp swag, and Yelp mingling. Venue is great as it was in Lyric Court where you can go inside the building to look at future shows and grab some other bites and get coupons, or you can chill outside with the crowd and listen to the band. However as this wasn't just a Yelp exclusive event the majority of attendees there were a little bit..well....entitled (like Steve F said in his review). But other than that, the event was fun. We weren't able to stick around for the large group photo (boo!) but had a fun time. To more Yelp events!!

The suite was in the Plaza Las Palmas which was very busy when I arrived during lunchtime. The inside had a limited seating capacity with fewer tables than the Kearny Mesa spot. For this weeklong promotion, the complimentary offer was a latte drink of choice with a free topping or a soft serve of choice served in a waffle cone or a cup. There were four flavors and two swirls for the soft serve. I asked for the Ube and Vanilla swirl in a cup. Initially, the worker was going to place the product in a standard serving cup. When I told her that I was going to be driving, she changed the cup to a deeper one that normally holds a small size drink. Not only did that make sense, but it was going to be much more convenient for me on the drive back home. As for the frozen treat, the menu photo depicted the ube as a shade of midnight blue. What I received was a more traditional lavender hue. The ube flavor wasn't as strong as I had hoped. The texture of the soft serve was reasonably creamy and didn't melt quickly while I was consuming it in my vehicle. Thank you to the owners of Matcha Cafe Maiko for hosting a Community Experience simultaneously at the Escondido and Mira Mesa locations. Indulging in your soft serve ice cream during this summer heat was certainly a pleasure. Thanks also to Audrey and Yelp North County San Diego for organizing the logistics of this Treat O'Clock experience.

The business was located in a suite next door to a gelato shop, both of which were in this random industrial park. I wonder with its remote location, how much customer traffic it can generate from beyond the neighbors in this complex? Anyway, a bonus was that parking was super easy. Upon entering and checking in with the cashier to mark my name off the magic list, she informed me that each of us had a $15 credit to select anything off the menu. I really loved the flexibility of this offer as it opened up the possibilities. Normally, an Elite promotion is for one or two specified items. The offerings were obviously heavy on chicken, however I noticed some non-chicken grub like crispy shrimp, Filipino spaghetti, a veggie egg roll, and even Belgian waffles. My picks were the two middle entries out of the six in the Specialties section... Chicken & Waffles and Chicken Curry. They conveniently added up to $14.95. The first container had four mini waffles combined with around a dozen pieces of chicken nuggets. A self-service condiments station was available that provided ketchup and four different sauces with clearly marked signage of each name and flavor profile. I used the Golden Chicken Dip for the nuggets to add a sweet and smoky enhancement to the bits of white meat. The second bowl had white rice as a base with chicken, broccoli, and carrots in a curry sauce that was mild in heat and spices. Two slices of yellow pickled daikon (takuan) were included on the side. The mix made for a nice savory snack. Thank you to the owners and staff at Surf Up Chicken for introducing a group of Elites to your eatery. The combination of Asian fusion and Southern-style flavors was unique. Thanks also to Audrey and Yelp North County San Diego for identifying a new local, family-run business to host an Elite Week Event.

But those brews were being served in the garden not the restaurant. However, Maddie one of the managers, was gracious and brought us over the beers we wanted from the Winter Event. So we were able to enjoy the food and their special brews. I started with the Stone Unicorn spiced milk stout. It wad a pretty decent stout with strong notes of coffee. My husband got a tasty Double Bastard Ale. Since we had eaten at Stone before tonight we tried new entrees. We ordered the jhiodri wings to share and I ordered the Moroccan Hanger Steak and he got the Chicken Snitzel. OMG, the wings were FIRE! But in aa good way. The plus side this time around is that they have a completely covered area to eat your food. Picnic benches are laid out with a full awning. Parking is still great. Prices have gone up for both the tickets and parking so be prepared to pay $15 for parking and $15 to get inside. Services dependent on what vendor you buy your food from some will accommodate the request and others will not. Of course if there's no accommodation to the customer, they've lost my business.

[Parking]: $15 per vehicle for on-site parking just to enter the OC Fair & Event Center. [Admission]: Our party purchased the same-day tickets and paid a $16 per person entry fee. [What to expect]: The market was approximately half food vendors and half arts / crafts / gift vendors. There were solid craft and gift vendors, but not too many art vendors. The food was extremely overpriced ... a simple appetizer = at least $15+ & a filling meal = at least $25. The only real positive? There was a mahjong area that offered free lessons. The performance stage was alright. [Food]: Our party ended up getting only 6 pieces of soup dumplings (aka XLB) from Dumpling Dream for $14 and a cup of gelatea from Boutcha for $7.20 (one of the most affordable and best item to get at the market). [Conclusion]: If I ever come back to 626 Night Market, I would probably stick with the Arcadia location as parking is free and the admission fee is slightly cheaper. I am still having a hard time digesting the fact that getting into the market cost $30+ before even buying any food if I come here alone and I would also need to spend another $25+ just to feel like I had eaten a legit meal. I am good with this one-and-done visit.
