What can I say about this event but wow! This was a beyond generous offering!!! Also, fyi, I was confused why a frozen yogurt shop was called gelato and it was explained to me that they make a canned water beverage called gelato (there's one in the gift bag) and that came before the yogurt store. I arrived about 2 PM and parking was easy. The outside was really cute with ice cream shaped chairs, a pink bench that looks like it's dripping and ice cream stickers on the windows. Walking in there are so many photo ops, where do you start? I took tons of pictures. I was greeted so warmly and welcomed by the guy behind the counter and he gave me the tour explaining everything in detail. It was so much, I was happily overwhelmed. He gave me my swag bag (a pink reusable bag, with quite a few goodies in it) and let me pick out a t-shirt. I finally went to pick my flavors and he let me sample a few. They have 2 sizes which seemed really big to me. I got a little bit of a few flavors probably filling my cup a little over half. The came time for the toppings. There are 2 walls of toppings and a topping bar and it's unlimited, cereals, gummy's and boba pearls, crush candy bars, chocolate chips, coconut, etc. so Much good stuff. I picked a few and sat down as soon as I did, in came Caroleann and I was so happy to have another elite to share this awesome experience with. We enjoyed our froyo as we caught up. They have a secret room that has international candy, drinks and chips etc that we explored together. I love the whole concept of this place, it's just fun and joyful!! Then she took fun pics. It's so much better to share this experience! Thanks Caroleann! Thank you so much Gelato Sweet Spot, Audrey, and Yelp for such a sweet afternoon treat!!

This place seriously should change its name to avoid confusion, because this was not gelato but the most frozen yogurt I've ever consumed in one sitting! After sampling all the yummy fro yo flavors, I filled my enormous bowl with Coffee, Apple Pie, and Mountain Berry topped with chocolate rocks and mochi. Yum! Swag was beyond generous, and I particularly loved the "secret room" where I found some novel (to most Americans) steak-flavored rice crackers and chips to take home. Thank you Gelato Sweetspot, Yelp, and CM Audrey L. for rolling out the proverbial red carpet for us lucky Yelp Elites!

I have a swwweet spot for Gelato! You won me over Gelato SweetSpot... greaaat spot for a fun time with all kinds of sweets. 40 fun toppings and 12 creamy flavors...whaaat! It's now my new treat spot for my froyo cravings....cereal cravings....exotic candy cravings...salty snack cravings. Thank you very much for my choice of a complimentary frozen yogurt!! The staff were sweethearts...appreciated their help. I wanted a Fall Season treat...the Apple Pie and Pumpkin flavors were calling my name for this celebration. After adding some yummy embellishments, I was in swwweet heaven. Thank you Audrey for this sweetest Elite connection and experience!! Yelp Elites, I'll meet ya'll at the SweetSpot :-)

Great elite experience here... I'm sure everyone was thinking it was a gelato shop but it's really froyo... Gelato is the brand name (pretty misleading and I'm sure the employees are constantly explaining this). Nonetheless, they put a ton of effort into this place. First it's a large space and things are spread out. There's a secret international snack room in the back... There's a wall of cereal where you can also choose milk and make a bowl... The elite offering was very generous... Any froyo, any topping, a voucher for the snack room and a hat or shirt... I got the cold brew coffee flavor and honestly it was excellent. I ran into a few other Yelp friends while I was in there and we were all laughing from the sugar rush...

What a cute place! Thank you to Yelp Audrey L., and Gelato Sweetspot for a very generous experience. I was greeted by a friendly employee and was told that I could get any size yogurt and pretty much any toppings. I chose the mango sorbet and topped it with some popping boba, a few frosted animal cookies and some Apple Jacks. The animal cookies and the Apple Jacks brought me right back to my childhood. Those were my favorite things to eat when I was a kid. The mango sorbet was so good. I took a look at the secret room. I'll be back for some of those salty and sweet treats. I really appreciate the cute t shirt and bag of goodies that they gave to us little Yelp peeps. Overall, a very nice place that I will definitely go back to.

ITS SO PINK!! Found parking easily Walked in to an open pink space with a circular counter in the center. 2 fabulous employees greeted me and explained the details of the business and my yelp offer The gave me little sample cups and I tried a few flavors. I'm a creature of habit and for half vanilla and half cold brew (same flavors I get at Trader Joe's) I wasn't plan of. On getting toppings but I went crazy today. Threw on peanut butter chips, PB cups & chocolate rocks. Then finished off with some gummy frogs. They let me pick a t shirt and I used my $10 voucher to grab a couple treats for my kids. I told my kiddos all about this amazing place. I can't wait to bring them here!!! Thank you yelp/audrey and to gelato sweets!

Look how cute those ice cream seating is!

Gelato Sweetspot is a true sweet place tucked away in a strip mall in Poway. As soon as we walked in we felt happy, the bright pink and decor and the friendly smile and welcome we received just made my daughter and I super happy. More than just a froyo bar Gelato Sweetspot has so much from a cereal wall to a hidden room filled with goodies from around the world. There literally is something for everyone (include various drinks and milk, snacks, candy). With Yelp we were given an amazing goodie bag with one of their sparkling waters (plain but super bubbly and refreshing), a coupon for future use and a nice tote bag. We also got to choose from the merch wall, t-shirt or a hat (I went with a really cool shirt that reminded me of the retro ice cream shops) along with a discount for the candy/snack room (I picked up some PEZ dispensers for my brother in law and Dad). I got to try some of the frozen yogurt which there were no shortage of flavors. The coffee was good and the berry was tasty. Wasn't too sweet or tart like some places are, just perfect. There is a good variety of toppings as well (I went for the strawberry popping bubbles). I got my daughter her yogurt and toppings, she had a nice sized bowl with toppings and it was less than $6. Plenty of seating inside and just overall a great place to hang out and enjoy some good company and sweet treats. The staff was great, so friendly and welcoming! Thank you so much Gelato Sweetspot, Audrey, and Yelp for another great event. Such a fun, amazing new place!!!

Thank you to Yelp, Audrey, Gelato Sweetspot, and Teddy. I got to enjoy another fun Yelp Elite experience. This time at the Gelato Sweetspot in Poway. Google maps told me to turn at a traffic signal but that takes you into a Taco Bell only parking lot, so go past and turn into the correct plaza. The parking lot is a bad design, and not as many spaces as there should be but there were some left. Please see all my photos for the complete experience including the outside, inside, secret room, yogurt stations, topping station, candy bins, cereal bins, and more. As you approach you see the well advertised store, the pink bench out front, and some colorful yogurt chairs I entered and Teddy promptly greeted me as soon as I came in, with a warm welcome. I let her know I was there for Yelp event. She made sure I had the email and checked in. She showed me some sticker swag, asked my tshirt size, and came back with a swag bag complete with the shirt, Gelato drink, and a few other items. Teddy asked if I had ever been there before, and I had not, so she took time to show me all over the place and how everything worked. She said we could try whatever size yogurt we wanted, and as many toppings, candy toppings, and cereal toppings as we wanted as well. She pointed out the secret room that had snacks, candy, soda and other assorted drinks and items for sale, not part of the YE experience. I chose the Chocolate, Strawberry, and Mountain Blackberry yogurt flavors as my base (I think that there were 10 or 12 total to choose from). The Yogurt was cold and delicious,. It comes out in a fun little pattern. I added sugar corn pops as a cereal topping, licorice as a candy bin topping, and I chose peanut butter and Nutella sauces, along with a few spoonfuls of candy toppings like m&m's, Butterfinger, little mini pb cups, etc. What a fun experience. My Yogurt would have cost $24 on a $.75 per ounce topping day, but on Thursdays they have a special price $.50 per ounce topping discount day. So it would have been less today. Thank you Yelp and Gelato Sweetspot for an awesome treat. I enjoyed the Pink decor, the look and feel, it was warm and welcoming. I also liked the tour of the secret room, with the walls of candy and snacks for sale. A little game machine. And a fridge full of special novelty drinks and flavors. In the main room, there are also Gelato branded drinks, and some clothes available for purchase. If you are in Poway and looking for a fun place, full of great yogurt and snacks, stop in and beat the heat with a sweet treat. Teddy will be there with a smile waiting to help you out.

Came to Gelato Sweetspot on the first day of the event and had a wonderful experience at this fairly new sweet spot! Located in Poway in a small shopping area next to a barber shop. Upon entering Gelato Sweetspot, I was immediately welcomed and shown around to the various froyo, toppings and a hidden back area with various international snacks and sweets. If you're looking for sweet goodies like from Japan, this is definitely a spot to see! The Gelato mixture I chose was mango, coconut and peach with some popping boba and mochi. There is even a wall of candy you can choose from! On a typical day, when you purchase, your sweet gelato is weighed for the price, which is about 75 cents an ounce. So many flavors and I'll have to go back to try more of the flavors! The store is so spacious and cutely decorated with seats along the windows and a few tables on the side as well. Defintely a spot you can take adorable photos with your sweet treat. I'll definitely have to take my kids here whenever I'm in the area! Defintely keep track on daily deals. I took a photo where each day is different. Mystery Monday - 25% off the secret room goodies in back Treat yourself Tuesday - 25% off bulk candy along the wall Cerealously Good Wednesday - Free milk with your cereal purchase Thursyday - 50 cents and ounce on your gelato Free sip Friday - Free water with your purchase, 1 free yogurt with a merch purchase and $1 off for doing a review and folling them on IG! The employees are nice and so willing to help with any suggestions needed. Thank you to the Gelato Sweetspot Crew, Audrey and Yelp for this deliciously sweet Elite experience and generosity! If you havent checked them out, what are you waiting for? Two thumbs up!

    'Secret Room' of international snacks
    Jenny Y.

This place is just cuteness overload! Everywhere you look, it's an Instagramable moment. Parking is plenty. The shop itself is very spacious with adorable little corners where you can sit. There are maybe 8 flavors of frozen yogurt. The name 'gelato' is a bit of a misnomer as there is no gelatos there. Like other frozen yogurt shops, there is an island of toppings. The 2 recommendations I would make to the shop is perhaps having one sugar free option and more nuts in the topping area. But what sets this yogurt shop apart is the 'secret room' where there is a treasure trove of international snacks I have not seen on this side of the world! That little room is worth the visit. There is also a wall of various cereals for you to choose from should yogurt not be your thing. Overall, such a fantastic shop to feed your sugar cravings.

This was my first dine-in experience at this location. Had the beef ribs tickler with sausage, coleslaw, and fries. The ribs were straight-up bomb! they were super meaty, tender, flavorful, and nicely charred. The sauce has a nice sweet, tangy, and spicy balance. The link was a good portion with a good smoky flavor, and the coleslaw and fries rounded out the meal nicely. Service was efficient despite a busy lunch rush and the staff were really nice and welcoming. The catering trays we've ordered have always been solid, and that same consistency carries over to the dine-in experience. It's a little pricier than your average lunch spot, but the food actually tastes good and consistent every time, which is why Phil's gets 5 stars.

Just a note that it doesn't allow for substitution of the sides. When I visited this location with family, we decided to order a bunch of different entrees to share. We got the Beef Rib Dinner (Full) with potato salad and coleslaw, chicken wings, colossal onion rings, loaded fries, and a side of macaroni salad. All of them were solid, but my favorite is still the well balanced baby back rib tickler for its flavor and price.

According to the website for the Filipino Sun Festival, "The Filipino Sun is historically (and geographically) significant, as the sun symbolizes unity, freedom, people's democracy, and sovereignty, while each of the eight rays represent the first eight provinces (Manila, Cavite, Bulacan, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, Laguna, and Batangas) that rose up and started the 1896 Philippine Revolution against Spain." The Filipino Sun Festival has been around the Mira Mesa area for two years; its mission statement is to "celebrate, promote, and share Filipino and Filipino American pride, culture, heritage, and history through educational, historical, and cultural activities and programs." Currently, it's a pretty small local festival - many of the vendors I saw this past Saturday were the same ones represented at the Mira Mesa Street Fair, including newly minted District 6 councilman Chris Cate (whom I unfortunately missed when I got there). A number of the booths were manned by youth and young adult groups as well; perhaps the Filipino Sun Festival is a way for them to get their community service work requirements done. The food court had about 10 vendors, four of which were Filipino food booths. In fact, I heard some people grumbling that they were expecting to see more Filipino food offerings; hopefully as this festival gets more traction as the years go by, they'll be more on board. I did order a stick of BBQ pork and some lumpia while I was there, as well as some takoyaki (fried octopus shaped into balls) from a Japanese booth - I was pleased with what I ordered, even if the bonito flakes were piled onto my takoyaki. There's also a beer garden sponsored by San Miguel (the major Filipino beer brand) on premises - San Miguel USA is one of the festival sponsors. I partook of their $2 happy hour, and got a pretty good buzz on, as well as one of the hats the booth was giving out. (At their booth, if you follow them on three forms of social media, you could score a free golf shirt... unfortunately, by the time I got there, the only size they had was medium. Guess someone will be getting a free shirt from me as a gift.) The entertainment hit the spot - while I missed seeing the performance from The Voice's Katriz Trinidad, there was a pretty decent Filipino beatboxer, and the dance performance from Tekniqlingz (tinikling dancers that also incorporate hip hop) was off the hook! The Filipino Sun Festival may be a small local festival, but there's potential there for growth. I'd like to see how it improves as time goes on.

You would definitely need central a/c if you lived here. Entering the town from the freeway, as we meandered down Main Street USA (okay, Poway Road -what else would it be?), we noticed how it was prettily-lined with bursting bougainvilleas, rich deep green hilly grassy areas meandering along the stuccoed walls, creating a most attractive facade. So what's up with the low Yelp score for this city? I gleaned the reviews and did a little digging. It seems most homeowners are very lonely and unhappy. They say there is nothing to do except go to the movies. The schools apparently are so far below the state's educational standards that over 50% of the parents homeschool their children. The city won't allow a Charter school, either. Homeowners have had to convert their green lawns to desert landscaping since the cost of water is so high. I checked with Zillow for housing in my price range and it was ghetto. Alternatively, we were enthralled by the mountainous terrain, as it reminded us of the very beautiful and lush Chula Vista. But what's up with the gorgeous facade upon entering the town? Is it smoke and mirrors? Hmmm...

They were super helpful and went out of their way to get the approval on our requested date and time before we left. THEY GET 5 STARS. But because I can only leave one review, the second part is what brings the rating down. On the day of the service, we arrived about 20 minutes early so we could unload our stuff to the unlocked gated patio. I went into the office at the Community Center to let them know. The nice young lady at the front desk heard me out, but was barked at by some woman sitting in the area behind her when she got up from her chair. The lady said " Nope, not till 4" I said but it's just the patio, and she repeated her response. I said fine, that we'd unload everything along the wall by the door. She barked back at me "Nope, you can't block the sidewalk." I understand that if those are the rules, then they're the rules, but nothing said we couldn't do this in the contract we signed, besides there was nothing else going on and NO ONE around. Her crass and rude demeanor was unnecessary and just made a hard and emotional time for our family even worse. Those 15 minutes we could have saved by just unloading the stuff would have made a world of difference in the set-up. I wish I had gotten her name to post here. I feel really bad for all the others there who have to work with, or even near this mean woman because everyone else we dealt with there was truly wonderful. The room and patio was perfect for our memorial service.

Fast service, knowledgeable, and even brought us beer samples to complement the food we ordered. We sat outside on the patio which was nice on a warm summer day. Haven't had this nice of a dining experience in a lot time. 5 Stars!
