Gatlin's Heating and Cooling is also my go-to HVAC company any time one of my clients' heating or air conditioning go out. They show up on time, give a fair diagnosis, and repair or replace the unit at a fair price. I also use them for my personal needs. A month or so ago they prevented my clients from paying to replace a whole HVAC system due to a coil with a leak while another company (that my clients found on their own...) told them it would take a month to find the leak, and that they needed to have the whole system replaced. Gatlin's Heating and Cooling has helped my clients in Athens, Madison, and Huntsville. I highly recommend them based on quite a few experiences, and would give them more stars if I could.

They sent General Aire out and they did some work, but said they needed to come back to finish the job due to needing to order a part. Mid-summer they called my wife and announced they needed $1,400 for freon replacement in preparation for the new coil they had ordered. My wife paid it (mistake #2), then nothing happened--no one called with the part, no one even acknowledged we had paid $1,400. I began calling Cinch to ask WTF in October 2024. Still waiting on a part (they claimed it had to be custom made). They finally came out late in the year and replaced the part after I again made a stink with the home warranty company. Fast forward to early April 2025 and the upstairs is not cooling. The job has a six-month warranty on it, but am I calling General Aire (would be mistake #3...)? Nooooo, I'm calling the original installer. They send a tech out and he quickly determines the problem--$1,400 worth of freon leaked out over time due to the General Aire tech FAILING TO TIGHTEN A BOLT PROPERLY. Of course he had to recharge the unit with four pounds of new freon, but somehow, the cost of freon at this reputable dealer is a lot less than General Aire--I only had to pay $520 for that. General Aire is an absolute disaster. The lady answering the phones is constantly trying to convince you to go with Old Republic Home Warranty over whatever company you currently use (must be getting some sweet kickbacks). Their techs were slovenly and obviously incompetent. Communication is abhorrent. Ditch the home warranties. They send out speds like General Aire to work on your appliances. Go with the reputable techs instead.

He left and went to pick it up, came back and worked for 4 hours installing and checking everything related to HVAC. We have two units and he thoroughly cleaned both of them, checked every item very thoroughly. He even went up inside the hot attic and checked both units up there--heating and cooling. We could not be more pleased with his work. Meanwhile he/we hassled with Select warranty while they lied about diagnosis and refuse to cover any of the cost!!! We very highly recommend General Aire for all HVAC needs. Would give them more than 5 stars if I could. I'd give Select Warranty a negative 10 if I could. Over-priced and Deceptive…read more The owner of this company told me I should find water 80-120 feet down. After 140 feet, the drill operators told me "he was a little off" and asked me what my limit was on drilling. Now, once someone has paid to drill and find no water, he is left with the blind gambling of making up for his loss, and digging deeper to find water so the initial drilling was worth it. I asked for an opinion on a limit I should set, a possible maximum, and they told me they had no idea, and they would drill 900 feet if I told them to. At $15/foot, which is extremely expensive as many other companies quoted $6/foot or less, that was not an option. I had them stop for the day and contacted the Geographical survey people the next morning. They told me my area was a hit or miss area, and to go no more than 170 feet since after a black sulfur shell in the soil, there is very little chance of finding water. When I told this to the drill operator, his response was "oh, I would stop if I hit that sulfur shell." Clearly caught in the act lying, once they knew I had found out that there was a limit, they tried to claim they would have stopped if they reached that limit. Clearly, they were playing my lack of knowledge the precious day to get as much drilling done as they could to bank on my misfortune. Do not use this company. And do your research before drilling. Call the people who do not get paid to find water for you. And pick a cheaper company that is more honest than this one.
