This review and rating is for Tonya Anthony, the property manager of the condominium in which I live. I experienced a severe flood in my unit. Tonya and her staff were immediately responsive when my utility room ceiling collapsed (learned that months of an unaddressed severe washing machine leak in the unit above was the cause), and my unit partially flooded. Tonya's assistance, support and kindness were with me during the many steps (and months) of damage assessment and repair, including a coordinated visit from the Fire Dept and Con Ed to assess a potential fire threat. Don't do business with J&J. They are highly unprofessional and will leave your once beautiful property looking less attractive, much less. They do not maintain and could care less of their clients safety. Pay a little more money and find another management service. read more

When I bring a situation that needs action to their attention, it seems like all I get is a promise, but no action. I should not have to bring the same matter to their attention over and over again, especially when I was told it would've been done months ago. In my estimation, they leave a lot to be desired, and I wish we had our former management company back again. read more

Sadly the owners of this company do not care about the unprofessional and rude behavior of their staff, in particular Tonyi Anthony. Anytime she is presented with an issue she is confrontational and refused to address it, even though rules are clearly stated in handbook. She picks and chooses which residents to follow rules with. Such as allowing residents pets to defecate in my entrance and flower beds. She also discriminates against children. As she tried to blame my children for a leak that occurred between the walls. I reached out to the owners several times but Courtney and James seem to be condoning this type of behavior from their staff since they have yet to return my calls or emails. The fact that they cannot keep anybody on staff for longer than a few weeks, should speak VOLUMES about how this company is run. Our building had numerous turn overs of workers who were assigned to do the "day-to-day" managing of our building. Residents were NEVER notified, or introduced to the new person. By the time residents figured out there was someone new, J&J had already fired them. The ONLY reason they get one star...cause I would give them zero if possible, is because of their residential portal. It's great that residents can go and look at their account and put in requests/complains/concerns. HOWEVER, it would be even better if someone actually read those requests and did something about them. I had complaints up there for 3 YEARS that were NEVER looked at, or cleared out of their system. They will NOT visit the building to inspect anything. NO ONE from the company physically comes to board meets. They do NOT follow thru on any assignments given to them by the Board. Their accounting is VERY convoluted, and purposing done to confuse and hide money that they more than likely are skimming off the top. The owner, James, is bitter and petty. STEAR CLEAR! J&J Managment prides themselves on "going above and beyond to listen to your reqeusts and provide prompt updates". This could not be further from the truth. I have made SEVEN attempts (over the course of SIX MONTHS) to communicate with the management company regarding safety risks that our porch poses, and have YET to receive a response. No response at all.....not even a "we are looking into it". Nope! Completely ignored. I suppose once I get my attorney involved I may receive a response. read more

For 6 months I issued a request to have a vent placed over a hole in my roof!!! I have called several times and left many messages....NO ONE HAS RETURNED MY CALL!!! The birds are flying into the hole and nesting and nothing has been done concerning this issue!!!! The birds begin chirping first thing in the morning and continue to throughout the day!!! My husband reached out to JJ Management and they told us that service order has been placed...that was three weeks ago!!! No vendor has shown up!!! The birds are pooping all over the columns on my porch!!! I'm am so frustrated about this unprofessionalism that I am thinking about calling a news channel to have this escalated!!! So far, I am not content with the handling that J&J has handled the transfer in ownership of our rental property. While I understand there are growing pains, they have not handled the nuisances between all leases well nor responded in an appropriate manner to resident who have reached out to them; apparently we are all naïve 18 year old college students. I don't forsee the experience going well considering the callous approach to communication and perceived convince~ pretty things doesn't mean they are good by any means. We have had terrible experiences with another rental property and this current experience runs very similar to the previous negative ones. I do hope potential tenants do their research to make sure this property manager is a good match. Would I recommend if mom and dad pay my rent? Absolutely! Would I recommend in any other realistic scenario? Absolutely not!!!! My hope is that the company takes their tenants and individual cases seriously rather than "pay pigs". Also note: a trend in responses to negative reviews indicate that the responses are accusatory and mention that the reviewer has never been a tenant. This trend goes back as far as 2018. read more

Compared to the two previous INEXPERIENCED management companies that appeared to have only two or three employees who showed to be EASILY SWAYED by a NONCOMPLIANT Board, J&J Management Services website shows to have more people and a larger professional-type organization that has provided obvious professional services upon arrival--simple, timely billing statements while providing the STAR credit as required by NYS. Time will tell if J&J will continue to perform professionally like well-established/experienced Garthchester Realty who had provided timely annual statements and guidance for financial stability, and abided by the NYS Business Corporation Laws for the timely/proper notices for the Annual Meetings by mail and under doors, and for the election of Board members by counting Shareholders for a quorum DURING the meeting by an election official (not afterwards behind closed doors by the Cooperative Attorney, violating the BCLs). Unfortunately, the Board President told Shareholders he could not get along with Garthchester Realty, and apparently, with the other management companies, many Shareholders, the laws . . . read more

They ignore home owners requests. Very unprofessional. Wish I read the reviews before I purchased here. Seems rules only apply to some homeowners...others can do what they like to their property. Don't breath or you might get a violation. read more

they lost a check for 2 months how fees in May 2018. They failed to inform me,untill jan.2019. Then charged late fees.

Horrible property management. They manage a property where my future husband is a shareholder. Constantly fining him for no good reason!!Just because he wants to pay his maintenance fee by check and not automatic withdrawal from his checking account. They cash the checks late and then charge him late fees. read more

While I see many reviews here speak to individual issues in one residence, I can only respond to their Management services for our property. J&J's strength is in their attention to our property, including looking for issues that need addressing with or without our noticing. The Property Manager stays in close communication with our Board so that items can be addressed professionally and appropriately. The PM has a visibility on the premises which goes a long way to have our community feel Management is more than just a place they send their monthly dues to. Certainly there are timing issues: some items don't seem to happen fast enough or to a resident's standards which may be higher than the performance satisfactory to the Board, but the contractors have all been very accommodating in both their work and how they deal with residents, and they match the task to which they are assigned. The CEO stays in the line of communication and intercedes to assist when necessary. I encourage any property looking for competent and creative management to consider J&J. read more

I wish there was an option to vote lower than one star and hit the negatives. This company prides themselves on communication, going on and on about it in their "About Us" and their deep and strong relationship with their clients and residents on their website. Perhaps the Operations Manager Courtney Vitanza should read that over before she communicates with anyone in any capacity. This individual lacks any possible intelligence to comprehend an issue HER company created for a tenant, lacks any compassion for illegally taking funds from a FORMER tenant that has no longer been a tenant for over 2 months and is no longer part of any lease. It's honestly on HER hands if that person chooses to press for grand larceny, because they have every right to. It's unfortunate that Courtney would risk her company's reputation by being the hopeless, thoughtless person that she is, thinking it's completely acceptable to treat residents and former residents in such a callous and inexcusable manner over HER COMPANY'S ILLEGAL ERROR. It's a shame that someone as miserable and unintelligible as this sad excuse of a human is managing literally anyone never mind a company. Don't do it. Don't rent any apartment or townhouse from these people. The most ridiculously overpriced shit holes and the most ignorant staff I've ever encountered. They are deceitful and over charge for everything. Better to live in a cardboard box than to rent any of their properties. read more
