I thought I would take a moment to talk about my experience with J&W Asphalt. I'm a very detail oriented guy. I don't undertake any significant project without a high degree of research. When I needed a new driveway, I got five quotes from various local companies. Of the five, I was really impressed by J&W. The owner took the time to explain the various options available. He educated me on what each option provided, and the associated cost. This is the best part... I was prepared to spend top dollar on their best available choice. The owner actually convinced to go with a less expensive solution. His reasoning? Over the 20 years since my house has been built, all of the settling was going to happen in the class 5 beneath the asphalt had already occurred. There was no reason to dig all of it up and start fresh. They could simply smooth what was there, add where needed, and apply the new driveway. Never in my life have I had anyone in home improvement actually suggest a way to spend less money. The results have been fantastic. Five years later, my driveway looks like it did when new. I chose J&W in 2016 because they are an actual paving company who also does sealcoating. I figured they'd have a higher level of understanding how to care for asphalt than a couple of guys from Craigslist. Their bid was a little higher though not as high as another asphalt company, and it wasn't enough to make a significant dent in my wallet. They were professional and worked efficiently. I had the work done a little later in the summer and this spring had an issue with a couple of cracks opening up. I called Joe Hagen their customer service man, and even though the cracks were not covered under warranty, he still sent out a crew to make sure I was satisfied. The cracks were repaired this spring and they look great as does the rest of the driveway. I waited awhile before posting on Yelp to see how the subsequent repairs held up and am very pleased. I'd highly recommend them if you are looking for a legitimate company who stands behind their work. read more

I am writing this review as a satisfied customer, in that I have had a driveway installed on my property after nearly 40 years of driving on crushed limestone. I should never had waited so long. I received multiple quotes and decided on JW based on my experience working with the salesmen and seeing other projects in my area around New Prague. Tom, our sales rep., is top notch and answered all of my questions and the crew arrived to do the prep work and met their scheduled laying of the asphalt when they stated. Their bid was highly competitive and I have enjoyed the drive every day over the past 3 years. there has never been an issue. Quality product and workmanship. I actually had it re-sealed last Fall, based on the recommended maintenance schedule but would never recommend the seal coating firm that I used. After seeking references for putting in my asphalt driveway, J&W was highly recommended by those who have worked with them and know the quality of work they do. My driveway is rather steep and has a partially curved retaining wall. They came in and shaped the driveway making sure there was enough good base. The paving crew came, marked the retaining wall for correct depth of asphalt. They then started paving always checking for correct depth of asphalt. They then proceeded to hand tamp edges and the retaining wall. Rolling the asphalt is tricky on a steeper slope as you have to know when to start . They did it with very little tears and no roll outs. Having worked in the asphalt business for 9 years I can attest to the quality and workmanship of J&W Asphalt. This company did a great job on my driveway!! This was a tear out and completely new project from start to finish. They were on time for the job and finished as scheduled. I checked many different companies and they responded quickly with a bid and had better quality of materials for a very good price. The driveway has been down for two years now with no issues. I want to complement the crew that did the work great people and explained things when I asked what was being done during the process. I did not do the review right away I wanted to see how the driveway held up to my trailer and the traffic back and forth and it has performed great. Next year I will have them seal coat it as well. We had to replace our existing asphalt and chose J&W due to other reviews. We are very happy with the quality of the work and the efficiency of both the removal crew and the asphalt crew. Even as we were bumping up against the end of the season, they got it all done! The only reason they did not get 5 stars is because the communication was non-existent for my initial scheduled asphalt pour day. But from my understanding, the manager of the asphalt crew became ill, plus their company was moving offices - which means I had a no call - no show for the first scheduled asphalt day. Approximately one year ago I requested that several paving companies provide me with bids for my driveway. Many never showed to take measurements and several that did provided me with estimates that were much higher than J & W's. After selecting J & W to do the work, their employees arrived on time, were extremely efficient, cleaned up after finishing the job and best of all provided me with a bill that was several hundred dollars less than the initial estimate. A year later the driveway still looks like new. I would definitely use them the next time I need paving done and would highly recommend them to others after my experience. read more

I hired J&W in the summer of 2015 to do a full replacement of my asphalt driveway after being referred by my realtor. Jim, Ryan and team were head and shoulders above the rest during the entire process from initial contact to payment. They were timely, thorough and professional. Prior to hiring J&W to do our driveway, they took the time to explain the entire process, what to expect, even how deep it would be, and the time it would take to complete the job, After receiving a fair and competitive bid, we hire J&W to do our driveway. After it settled, I had a few minor cracks, but J&W came right back out and fixed them, no questions asked! I might add, the cracks that occurred were actually normal, but they came out right away and fixed them. We used J&W to pave our driveway in August of 2015. These guys were amazing. They were in and out in a day and did a great job. In fact, we were really impressed with how they handled the need for a unique transition from the driveway into the garage. We had one minor issue which they handled quickly, responsibly and with integrity. Finally, they gave us the most competitive bid. J&W Asphalt exceeded our expectations. We were doing a simultaneous retaining wall project and J&W helped to cover up some of the blemishes with the retaining wall. Our driveway looked great once they were done and they were very fairly competitively priced when we received quotes from their competitor at the time. They did what they said they were going to do, there were no surprises and they cleaned up after themselves. We do intend to use them again in the future. read more

I just used them to sealcoat our 20 year old driveway this summer. We've had various companies do this in the past and have also done it ourselves. This was the best results we've had and the driveway no longer shows it's age. The process was flawless as it was easy to schedule; crew arrived on time and did an excellent job. We needed a complete driveway replacement, new apron along with widening it to add additional parking spots. J & W's bid was by far the most competitive. They did an outstanding job! The tear out was complete with out any debris left behind. The added space was perfect for what we needed. The instillation went smoothly and went in with out any issues. They were quick! My general feeling in talking to others was that they were too busy and they'd get to my request when convenient for them. J&W performed a seamless apron repair to my asphalt driveway in 2015. They were professional, courteous and fairly priced for the incredible work they did. I decided on the seamless repair after reading about their unique process and I was amazed at how truly seamless that repair looks with the old asphalt. J&W Asphalt replaced my old cracked concrete driveway with a new smooth asphalt driveway probably 3 years ago now. The person that came to my home to provide a quote was nice, and the guys that came and put in the new driveway wanted to make sure they were doing what I asked for plus more (they actually made it one foot wider on the one side to line up with the garage and they smoothed the new lawn/driveway for the new transition. The crew was on time, pleasant and made sure I was satisfied with depth of the new base that was being put in and also the depth of the asphalt. They also took the time to regrade our driveway so that it drained correctly. The bid was also in line with what I expected to pay for a new driveway. JW did a great job on our Asphalt driveway. It was a difficult drive with curves, pavers, flowerbeds, grass to work around. They came in and removed the old drive, laid down a new base, then came back in a few days and paved the drive. The paving turned out great with nice clean edges and hardly disturbed any of the surrounding areas at all. They re-laid the adjacent pavers and even re-leveled them. Highly recommend. read more

J and W removed my old driveway and replaced it while increasing it's size. They did all of the work on time and to the quoted price. While they were tearing out, we decided to add a little extra material and they did so without charging extra. The finished driveway turned out wonderfully and my neighbors are all impressed with the work. I recommend these guys to my neighbors all the time. read more
