I hate to say that we were extremely disappointed with Jason't service. He plowed for us this winter, and did a decent job, so we agreed to sign on with him for summer mowing. The agreement was he would come every 2 weeks to cut, but after the first cut I had to email him to see why he didn't come for the next cut. He said he had done a drive by, and felt the grass didn't need to be cut. It was ankle high!!! The first cut he had not cut much of the lawn, but we let it go. After he finally come for the second cut, which was better, there were still areas where the grass around it was cut, but sections were missed. We let it go, again. Again, 2 weeks passed with no cut and no contact. I emailed him (today!), and asked what was happening; why wasn't the grass being cut, why were large sections not being cut, and he sent an email saying he was unable to cut the grass because it was not being watered and treat to promote growth, so he would not charge for the 2 cuts, and he would no longer be willing to cut our grass! I am beyond speechless. Never have I heard of someone not being able to cut grass that is not being watered.....when the grass is clearly growing....again it's ankle high. I had emailed him in May to ask about seeding, and I never received a response. This is unacceptable business practice. We would absolutely NOT recommend Jason's company at this point. If there had been a problem with the lawn we should have heard from him. He has now not cut our grass, and left us in a lurch to find someone else when we are in desperate need of a cut. read more

J. Benjamin Landscape and Design....... " a breathe of fresh air" literally and figuratively... I am an avid gardener, but I am definitely better with flowers and not the lawn. I have always been under -impressed with the lawn care and mowing services I have had in the past....hence why I was taking care of the mowing and maintenance myself....ugh.... I decided to give Jason, the owner of the J.Benjamin Landscape and Design, a try after the local hardware store, who knows how picky I am , recommended him. He has done a terrific job and really cares about how things look. He is always careful to not cut the lawn too short and as well, not damage any of my flower beds. He has exceeded my expectations in the mowing and maintenance of my lawn...( i haven't had to yell at him once! lolol) . Jason has also done some landscaping projects around my house. All of which made me envious as he did a way better job than me....and I pride myself in how I take care of the yard.....lololol Jason has an a trained artistic eye and always has great ideas to fix or make something look better. He is also polite and gets back to you right away. Prices are very reasonable. It's not the "fly by night" hack landscaping company I am used to. When first meeting Jason I had high hopes. We had three projects that we wanted to have done. The first project consisted of the front of our home, an island also in the front and the cul de sac that surrounds our home. The project began in July, the front of the house went well as as did the island, it was downhill from there. Our cul-de-sac was started, but never finished. Jason stopped mid stream and said it was too difficult to dig in the far section and then weeks later said he would come back and have a worker dig up small ornamental grasses from our back yard and plant them in the cul-de-sac. Months went by and nothing. A week ago (October) I emailed him to ask what had happened. We had paid him upfront for material and labor for this project. He said that he had completed the work that was on the June Quote and would not be back to do addition quoted/discussed projects. Jason is by far the most professional, creative, friendly, and detail oriented landscaper we have ever worked with. My husband and I moved into our new house during the winter- come spring, we saw just how abysmal the yard was. We knew it wasn't great, but didn't realize to what extent! We found Jason through a friend's recommendation- he came to our house and spent a solid 90 minutes walking around and giving suggestions. He sent a great estimate and soon we had a stunning landscape that really made our new home our dream home! We also use him for our mowing service and he is impeccable. When it was really arid during the first weeks of summer he missed one mowing because it was barely growing and he didn't want it to dry out and burn. Sure enough, my neighbor's landscaper mowed three weeks during that time and burned a larger portion of their yard- clearly Jason knows exactly what he is doing! Again, I highly recommend J. J. Benjamin Landscape and Design is a landscaping company I recommend without reservation. Jason was prompt, instructive, and clear about what he thought needed to be done. I needed my beautiful Japanese Maple tree worked on after it was struck by lightning and Jason knew exactly what needed to be done to save it. I was also clueless about what to do with my overcrowded garden and Jason was able to quickly assess the areas that needed to be addressed. After he was done, my garden looked so much better. He gave me advice about what I can do to further improve it once spring rolls around again. I received great advice regarding the best mulch to use and about curb appeal. Jason has a pleasant demeanor, is polite and professional, and has the homeowner's best interests in mind. I plan to use him in the future for other projects. We are planning on selling our house in a few years and, through recommendations, contacted Jason to come and give us some ideas on how to give our house more "curb appeal". He was very easy to reach by phone or email and always got back to us quickly (so nice compared to other businesses I have used!). He had some great ideas for redoing the front of the house with new plantings, adding color and interest. We also need to redo our lawn but he recommended waiting until the year before we put our house on the market so that the lawn would be in the best shape. I am so excited to have my flower beds back to a happy place! Jason took my overrun hill garden, and made it ready to bloom as soon as spring decides to come! I was impressed with his knowledge of my plants, my specific needs for my gardens, and his obvious passion for the outdoor environment. He responded quickly to my request for a quote, and knew time was of the essence in getting the overgrowth gone before my perennials became too tall. If it were possible to give no stars I would. This guy is a complete clown. He is a big talker and a man a very little action. He loved to bad mouth other companies and work which is completely unprofessional. He was completely arrogant and hard to deal with. He changed things in the plan without telling me.
