Never have I dealt with such rude and disrespectful front office staff. I had to keep calling to our taxes completed after we filed just after the beginning of the year just to find out today they did send all necessary documents. When I called I was stone walled by a receptionist that was rude! I will not be returning. They need to be trained in proper customers service etiquette. Strung along and very unsatisfied. A few years back I had meet Javier Bravo and he talked me into having them do both my personal and business taxes, and WOW I was AMAZED oh the great customer service I received, not only from Javier but his whole staff. In 2016 I noticed a change in attitude and customer service but because of the previous years I just figured it was growing pains. This last year I had dropped off my taxes in March and they were finally ready in September. Really 6 months? Are you guys that busy? I guess my biggest complaint I have is the customer service. Now don't get me wrong when I started using them they were not the cheapest, nor the most expensive but I did not mind because of the great customer service they provided. Based off the last 2 years I have decided to find a new CPA. I received better customer service from H&R Block in the past then they treated me the last few years. read more

Javier has been doing my taxes for almost 10 years, I can't believe it has been that long! I went from a small LLC return and simple personal return, to now owning 2 large businesses, and a much more complex personal return. I have always felt like a valued client, and I have never had an issue getting an appointment. Additionally, I have always felt like we have been on the same page, which is invaluable when trying to plan for the future. In addition to the regular business of filing taxes, the reason that really prompted me to write a review was the additional services and support the company has been offering. We opt to pay an extra fee to be enrolled in the enhanced client services package. Unfortunately I don't remember what they specifically call it, but the gist is that you have additional protections, benefits, conveniences, and audit defense should the need ever arise. Knock on wood we hope to never need that portion, but the other services have been worth their weight in gold. Over the past year, we have bought 3 homes and sold 1. These days, most things are done electronically, DocuSign, etc. When one of our loan officers was having trouble pulling our transcripts for a time sensitive loan, she told me I had to go stand in line at the IRS office to get them. I was irritated. As a mom, wife, business owner, the last thing that I needed was a lengthy, unscheduled trip to an IRS office. I called Javier's office at 4pm, and the front desk was so helpful and efficient. They said they could have it done in the morning. They saved the day. Imagine my surprise when I received a call 20 minutes later, that same day, that it was actually done and taken care of. THAT, my people, is customer service. Additionally, they have been pestered and inundated with more requests from our loan officer, and they have handled everything efficiently and with grace. They understand the time sensitive nature of these types of things, and they certainly come through. In summary, this office provides a partnership, where you can grow your company and receive solid advice on how to plan for the future. They take care of things that enable you to do the things you need to do to be successful in life. Can't recommend them enough. read more

Revising my review from when Fick ran this company. There is a new sheriff in town. Apparently a Mr Bravo is taking charge of this office. He seems to be making right on the wrongs done by Fick. So far, so good, and I certainly appreciate him reaching out to me to apologize and to do his best to make things right again. Mr Bravo has acted with integrity and has done all that he said he would, including follow ups. I am placing him in charge of a small portion of my taxes, and as I said, so far, so good. I will update again once 2016's have been filed........ I have deleted my old review since Javier Bravo seems to have resolved the problems I had with Daryl Fick CPA, so the old review serves no purpose. Mr Bravo did such a great job with my somewhat challenging taxes that I had him to a small business, and 4 other personal returns for my family, and he did all of them thoroughly, timely, and was responsive to all my questions and concerns. Not only has Mr Bravo turned the time clock back to when this office used to do a great job, but Mr Bravo really CARES about what is right and what is wrong, and treats his clients with respect, how refreshing in todays world. So its a bit sad writing this review, but since I have referred a few dozen folks to Daryl, I thought I had better sound the warning bell. Daryl has done my taxes for 30 years. I enjoyed (as much as one can) the hour or so every year that Daryl and I would sit and get through the years stuff, BS about our personal lives and talk shop. He even coined my wife's "occupation" on our return the very first year as "Domestic Goddess", she's liked him ever since, so have I, but times they are a changin'. Starting a couple of years ago there was a perceptible change in the way things ran. Gone were the one on ones with Daryl, (which I understand is part of growth, no biggie) but things also started to fall through the cracks. There were several "issues" all of which were eventually worked through, but gone was the level of service and professionalism that had existed in prior years. The proverbial straw, was a couple of notices that I received out of the blue 7 months ago that 2 of our corporate returns were delinquent!!! So I may not have been the biggest of clients there, but they were doing 3 corps and our personals, which should have at least qualified for a return call when I brought it to their attention. You know what I got - Crickets, nothing outbound from them, no updates, NO NOTHING!!!. I would periodically check in to get an update, but all I ever heard was we'll get back with you... and the sound of the can being kicked, yet again, down the road. Now both accounts are in Lien/Levy, yes that's right folks, the crack team at Fick's office (which I am assuming is being or has been purchased by the Bravos, at least that's the way it feels) has let the issue go so long I am now being liened / levied and I am having to have my attorney attempt to resolve the matter, with all of the associated costs, time, and most importantly the anxiety of having to deal with the tax collector, (which is what I though I was paying Fick's folks for). Its a sad day when a 30 year relationship ends, but when it becomes toxic, sometimes it just has to. You have been warned. read more

I am extremely happy with my experience working with Javier Bravo, Christopher Noble and Robert Taylor at Daryl B Fick CPA. I have an extremely challenging Corporation Structure and had two of the largest and most respected San Diego Based CPA firms (who I had been working with for over 10 years) tell me they were unable to create a strategy to complete the taxes. This forced us to file extensions for several years and incur stiff penalties. Finally I called Javier and his team and they were able to come up with a very simple strategy to tackle the taxes and come up with a very positive result for the business. On top of this their communication was second to none. Other firms I have worked with in the past, treated me in a rushed manner, even though I represent 2 LLC's and an S Corporation they treated me like I was a nuisance rather than a valued customer. Javier and his team made me feel like they respected my business and responded to my questions day and night. And they never made me feel like they were rushed or overwhelmed even at peak Tax Season (which is something the largest firms in San Diego always made me feel like). In short Javier and his team made the experience a pleasure and something I enjoyed rather than loathed. I highly recommend anyone that is on the fence of leaving their current CPA to give Javier, Christopher and Robert a call. No Way!!! These guys are OK until there is a problem and they leave you to defend yourself from their mistakes. They prepared my returns for many years but when there was a problem and somehow someone else's information was put on my return as well as the preparer making double entries they took no ownership of the issue and hung me out to dry with the IRS. If you truly want to know the character of the individuals you hire just wait until there is a problem and see how they deal with it. Daryl Fick and his preparers failed this test when all they had to do was take responsibility for his preparers mistake. Based on how they treated my business I would not recommend them to anyone EVER. read more
