This company is not legit! I don't know how it got all of these great reviews?? I went to their location at 4950 Waring Rd, Ste 8 and there is no Taxlana and when you call their listed phone number it is a foreign language and also says the phone number is not in service. I paid $350 deposit for an online tax prep meeting so I will have to dispute charge with my credit card to get my money back! Stay away! Edit: Taxlana returned my $350 deposit. I did not get my taxes done by them so I cannot comment on that. But the experience of not being able to reach this company by phone or other and the location listed is not legit. But I cannot give a review positive or negative on the quality of tax prep by this company. read more

Had an appointment with Svetlana last night, we shared a phone call for an hour and if I could pay to reverse time I would. She was extremely rude, talked down to me and said "that was not intelligent" for starting my own business myself without a lawyer. SHE CALLED ME DUMB!!! She continued to complain about my situation and not having documents I have never been asked to provide. 1095 to confirm that our kids are actually ours, her comment was I don't know you, haven't even seen your driver's license and told my wife to not get defensive about proving that these are her children. She has not responded to me today about refunding my $350 I paid just to talk to her, no way in hell am I filing with her company and maybe after this review she might get back to me. I'll have my wife leave one next as this lady is the worst person we have ever talked to. I work in customer service and have never known anyone to treat people with such disrespect as this lady did. I am authentically writing this since there might be other customers that aren't avid yelpers and/or afraid to communicate their experience (positive or negative) with Lana. Hands down 1 star experience but I'm given her 3 star experience; not the best and not the worst. Breakdown of why she lost 2 stars: -1 star=Her apartment/home office smelled like animals and the set up is her back facing you; which is very impersonal. The whole time she's distracted by her puppy and holding it on her lap. I love dogs but not when I'm trying to do business. -1 star: Her attitude shifted when I asked for an adjustment on one of the taxes. Below is a more detailed explanation. Let's just say, my experience quickly shifted from 5 star to almost a 1 star experience WHEN I asked for a fix on my own bookkeeping mistake. I would have given her 1 star but she threatened to write a bad review on my business for no reason. She was never my client so I don't understand why that would even cross her mind. As a small business that started in 2015 this lady didn't give me the type of guidelines or guidance needed to have a successful business. 5 years later (2020), with more experience as a business owner, I realized I might have been doing my own bookkeeping Incorrectly-I didn't know I could hire Lana to do my books because 1: she never offered 2: she made a big deal when I needed help. In the past I have used H&R Block and Turbo Tax but I wanted to find a local, independent person to work with. I filled out her "Tax Organizer" Excel document and uploaded all my documents to Dropbox. By the time I showed up to my appointment she already had my taxes completed. In our previous dealings with tax preparers, we encountered several major issues, including: * The worksheets provided for organizing tax data (typically _not_ fillable forms) were difficult to understand and use. * Fees were often arbitrary and excessive -- one tax preparer would only quote me an hourly rate of several hundred dollars with little idea as to how long the work would take, another that we actually engaged added on a couple hundred to his original quote with no explanation and a third charged us a rush fee for non-rush service. * Either we were obliged to meet in person with the tax preparer unnecessarily for hours on end or, in another case, the tax preparer was unavailable for any discussion in real time, with emails sometime answered only after weeks of waiting. * In one experience (with an individual working for H&R Block), the tax preparer discouraged us from contributing to IRA accounts not because that was in our best interests (it wasn't) but because she apparently didn't know how to work this into her calculations. * A surly attitude on the part of some made the experience needlessly unpleasant. We experienced _none_ of these issues with Svetlana. Her worksheets, with fillable fields, are easy to use. Her fees are reasonable and clearly posted on her website. She offered a one-hour meeting in real time on Zoom, as part of the service, which turned out to be more time than we needed. She was pleasant and professional throughout her entire efficient process.
