First, we did not recognize 25% savings for our project. Our biggest ticket items were our flooring, countertop, cabinets, and electrical. The flooring was purchased using OBMS' manufacturer's discount. The discount brought the flooring to the same price we could have purchased it at using a local flooring dealer. The countertop was market rate. The cabinets were custom-made and one of the only areas we saw savings. The electrical was market rate. Second, OBMS received payment of 25% of the total costs. That included items we secured, researched, and where he offered no value or discount (e.g. light fixtures, appliances, plumbing fixtures, paint). Finally, Jim made *ONE* trip to the site during the two plus months of construction. What he provided was a list of vetted contractors, and a plug-in timeline and budget worksheet for our project. He made a few phone calls, sent a few emails, and texts providing very little useful counseling or expertise. His coaching at one point was to chastise us for not letting him know there were issues with the drywall work. We were also told asking for estimates from a few contractors was "frowned upon" in the industry. We would not recommend OBMS based on our experience.

We live in an older house where rooms are more separate and we wanted a more modern open floor plan. We worked with Owner Built to bring these rooms together. We gutted both spaces and were able to create an open floor plan. We loved Owner Built's designer and the options they provided. Most importantly we liked the transparency of their process. We knew exactly what the contractors were making and what Owner Built was being paid for their services. Our overall spend was 25% less than our best full contractor bid. Our project is on their Facebook page and it speaks for itself. The process was easy, we had daily control of the project and when we needed help Jim (the owner of the company) was always there. We didn't find it harder to "be our own contractor" and actually preferred knowing where our money was going and having more say that prior remodels we have done.

We went with Touchdown Tile for our upstairs bathroom remodel, as they came highly recommended. We…read morereceived our estimate at the beginning of September in 2024, Final payment 12/30. Initially we were told it would be done by Thanksgiving and it ended up going through Christmas. Throughout this process there were numerous issues. They installed a bath fan that still did not work appropriately and the contractor put his foot through the newly finished knockdown ceiling, floor tile improperly laid, improper grouting (they had to reapply multiple times), electrical outlet and switch not installed level, they damaged the bathtub, the entire tile surround in shower was installed badly and waving. Not to mention the mess left outside, drywall compound/grout water being dumped in my backyard and damaged my siding/grass; and a piece of plywood in the front yard that was buried by snow during the project and killed my grass when found in spring. Due to this, I reached out to the GC about my complaints in March of 2025. The GC was shocked by the quality of the initial job and stated he would correct the mistakes. They finished corrections in January 2026. After the "corrections", the bathroom fan doesn't work and drips a lot of water when in use. The entire surround was replaced and still not done well, the tiles aren't aligned and in one spot i have a cut myself a few times from the tile jutting out. Not to mention, I purchased this tile for the contractors and didn't receive payment until the fix was complete months later. This was brought up during the second surround installation and the solution was to add more grout to the bottom of the jutting out tile. This grout has since deteriorated and it is sharp again. Grouting was done incorrectly and redone 3 times during the fix. Multiple attempts to patch the damage to the tub were done, damage still visible in 2 spots. They tiled over a water pipe that held the shower wand, so we had to wait for the GC to drill into the tile to reveal the pipe. The plumber came out to the drilling being incomplete and had to reschedule multiple times. To the plumber and I's dismay, this delayed the process. On the other side of the shower there is a closet with an access panel which has began to show increased signs of water intrusion at the top of the wall near the shower head. In the end, I was compensated for the tile I purchased + a little extra. (this did not cover the cost of tile plus interest due to delays). Plus a bathroom with improper tiling, a steam issue (to the point it has rusted the light fixture in the bathroom), and incredibly messy finishes (including towel racks falling out of wall). We wasted 20k dollars and will have to pay to have the bathroom remodeled, yet again. BEWARE, please think twice before using this company. I will not be recommending/referring them to any friends, family, or clients.
