They won't even give me the name of the tenant screening company they use so I can give that company my FTC report to get the fraudulent account off of my credit. She doesn't even try to understand the situation, puts you on hold 5 times in a minute and keeps exclaiming, "You're not a tenant, I can't give you ANY information!" Well, you could.... if you wanted to.... because this isn't sensitive information that deals with any of your current or former tenants. Worst people to deal with over the phone. They are rude and obnoxious. I canceled an appointment five hours ahead of time due to a family emergency and got berated for it. Contacted them a few months later, asked NOT to speak with the person I had previously spoke to because of the attitude and was told I was rude and to stop calling them. I got a random text from a number I never called or texted, telling me "I'm sorry I'm busy right now". I had no idea who this person was so I replied, "I don't know you and did not text you so please carry on. " I was not trying to be rude, just letting the person know I have no idea who they are. They replied that I called them about an apartment and they could prove it. I then apologized and suggested that had the text mentioned who they were and why they were sending a message, I would not have replied as if I didn't know them. They proceeded with "I could have helped you, but carry on, don't tell me what to do". I then asked if they were going to help me, to which I received no response. I even apologized for the misunderstanding. After getting no more replies to my requests for assistance about leasing an apartment, I deleted the messages from my phone. A few days later I went on to apartments.com, requested info on several more properties. Evidently some of the requests I submitted were to the same person who rudely ignored me a few days earlier -- they manage several properties, I now know, because I spoke to her (Anne) about a property I called directly. The management company is JFA Management. So,after requesting info on apartments.com about other properties, I got a text saying, "you keep putting inquiry on apartments I rent !???" Initially I didn't realize this was the same person (Anne from JFA, or perhaps another person at JFA, but Anne did tell me she was the manager) who texted me rudely a few days earlier and never offered to help because they couldn't get past the fact that I suggested they disclose who they are when they text someone. So before I knew it was the same person, I replied that I sent out several requests but did not know who the property managers were. I apologized, asked if they could let me know who they were, what properties they managed, if they could help me. The person never replied. If this is how JFA Management conducts business or treats prospective tenants, I would NEVER recommend anyone rent from them. Completely unprofessional, no manners, no decorum, no hint of the ability to communicate properly or rectify a misunderstanding THEY were responsible for. I will be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau today as well. If I could give a negative five star review I would. HORRIBLE. read more

I've known Vigliotti Construction for years, kind family busines. the real estate business they are in is more than difficult. not many understand that. I know live in one of their building. Clean and quiet, great community. The worse thing I can say is that it's so quiet you can easily over sleep in the morning. It's safe here as well. read more

Absolutely horrible management company. They are slumlords. My mother died less than a week ago and had resided in one of their buildings. She was a tenant for over 15 years. I was screamed at. Called a BITCH. Told by Antoinette it wasn't "her job" to clean up after my mother. My DEAD mother. She threatened to sue her estate. She's a disgusting human being and I hope someone treats her as horribly when someone she loves dies. She actually made my 79 year old mother cry multiples times over the years with her threatening, demeaning attitude. They never replaced a single carpet or provided any upgrades or even regular maintenance despite multiple rent increases. They let elderly residents go weeks with no elevators, took away laundry facilities, waited days to fix toilets and WEEKS for broken appliances. I've paid thousands of dollars out of my own money to maintain my mothers apartment because they wouldn't. They handled elderly tenant disputes by calling their residents names and pitting them against each other. I was told they didn't "have time" to deal with noise complaints and called my mother a liar. I could go on and on. Do yourself and your family a huge favor and stay away from these people and their properties. If I could give this place negative stars I would. This is by far the worst management and company I have ever dealt with in my life. I am a professional and needed an apartment part time. I moved in to Parker Place two years ago and from the start the nightmare began. I was offered a move in special with one-month free rent, however, due to management error, I was given the wrong apartment. The apartment was corrected, however, given the timing of availability of the corrected apartment, I was told the special would no longer be available. Instead, I was offered $100 off rent each month for one year (loss of $900). The apartment itself was new and clean and spacious, however, the walls are paper thin, structurally, there are cracks in the walls due to settling, the ventilation noise in the guest bedroom is extremely loud and there were spiders and ants routinely found inside the apartment. Above all, I want to issue a strong WARNING to anyone considering moving in, when it came time for me to terminate my lease, Angela was horrible to deal with. I was in a situation with a co-signed lease and I was not renewing my portion of the lease at expiry. When I gave my "more than" 60 days notice, she literally screamed on the phone and told me she would have to do my "dirty work" to get my roommate out. She also cursed and made threats advising she would sue me. She is now threatening to keep my deposit of over $3,000. To this point, I had never missed a rent payment in two years and everything was paid on time and in full, even during the pandemic. If you are thinking of renting here, I understand the apartment is clean and nice, but there are better options. I would stay far away, unless you are ready to deal with the headache of the poorly run management company!!!! read more

The guy on the phone confirmed "it doesn't happen often." Alright, if it rarely happens and if it does, why is the onus put on the tenant? They bank (literally) that the check will be delivered. When it isn't, the onus is put on you. He said "they send hundreds of checks out" (NOT certified). So the likelihood of one being lost periodically can happen right? Still, tenant pays. Comical since they require a certified check to rent their slum-managed, mickey-mouse-run, properties. Check their other reviews on Google, It's all the same: - They nickel and dime you - Take no responsibility for their awful management skills - Use tactics to wear you down so you just give in - Staff is incredibly rude, interrupts, talks over you, and screams at people - The Better Business Bureau has a complaint about them keeping money PSA: Have them send your security deposit via certified mail and just pay the nominal fee (it's blatantly clear they won't). They are super polite during the lease agreement but once you start calling them for the maintenance request, you will see their real version. Yelling, screaming and all. If I could give negative stars I would. I contacted the rental agent Antionette to ask a couple of questions and she was the rudest person I have spoke to in a long time. I asked if they took reference letters from landlords and her response was "absolutely not landlords lie" so is this her admitting that she also lies?? They require 3x the monthly rent in order to get an apartment which is a very hard criteria to meet unless you have a cosigner. This seems to be done purposely to discriminated against people who are part of the section 8 program as it is impossible for them to make 3x the rental income and are not allowed to have a cosigner. I suppose they rather have a secondary person on the lease that can default at any point then the guaranteed payment from section 8. Good Job JFA Management! read more

Poor Management Company. They treat the elderly like crap. More than one complex has had the elevator out of commission for over a month. Not good for a 55 and older community. Complaints are not taken seriously. More than one complex has had washer and dryer issues. When the elderly complain and ask when they will be fixed, they get angry and say that "It's a Privilege to have them and if you keep complaining, we will take them away". Nice job bullying the elderly. Leaks and Mold are not addressed in a timely manner. They don't return security deposits and claim that so much was wrong with the vacated apartment. Slumlords is the only way to describe them. Nasty on the phone, too. ADA says that there must be a working elevator if 3 or more floors. Most of these complexes are 3 or more. A family of crooks runs this company, and they should be put out of business for how they treat the tenants and the properties. Please use this review as a WARNING not to move into any of their properties. There is MOLD. JFA does not care, nor do they fix it. However, they will make it the tenants' responsibility to clean it. So if you don't clean it yourself, they will charge you for it. They do not fix anything. And when you ask, they treat you like scum. They retaliate if you stand up for yourself and your rights as a paying tenant. They are terrible people. Slumlords is a term made for them. You can not have an adult conversation with either sister Angela or Antionette. Both are severely unprofessional and cannot communicate other than by yelling, gaslighting, or hanging up on the tenants. Read the lease! They make it so you will pay for everything when you move out. Even if you live there for 15+ years, there is NO such thing as normal wear and tear in the lease. YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR EVERYTHING. They are crooks. When you move in and do a walk-through with one of the incompetent sisters, they will have you sign off on anything noted to be damaged. But look closely at the paperwork because they didn't actually write down any of the noted damage, and now you just signed off on it. Also, a snake move, they don't give you a copy of it. So you have no proof. If you move in, take pictures and videos of everything in the apartment. Send it to them in an email for documentation as well. Save them. Protect yourself as much as you can. They are notorious liars and deny everything, and it's in your best interest to document all conversations with this company. They go after the disabled and elderly because they are the easiest victims. A message to Antoinette and Angela, and JFA Co, You should be ashamed of yourselves for how you treat your tenants. I told them that because their dumpster isn't enclosed, rats were scurrying around, and I was the one who picked up the daily mess around the dumpster their lazy slob tenants leave spilled all over....not to mention the wind blowing cardboard and plastic bags into the backyard area of the apartments. The location of the Branford apartments is excellent, right on Main Street. However, my overall experience with this company was very poor. The apartment building itself is in need of a serious rehab, the front door locking mechanism remained broken for multiple months during my residence there, which is a significant safety issue. I made multiple phone calls regarding this problem and it was to no avail. The hallways and foyer area used to receive cleaning services during my first two years of living there, however that stopped and I have noticed the area has become dirty and malodorous. The apartment corridors smell of cigarette smoke. There are clumps of cigarette butts speckling the front door porch area and parking lot on a regular basis. My apartment had continuous leaks in the ceiling outside my bathroom, and I had multiple problems with my refrigerator. In the beginning of my residence at the apartment, I noticed that the air conditioner/heating system was not working properly, and it took much advocacy on my part to get the company to fix it. In addition, the laundry room was not operating efficiently, with about 50% or more of the machines not working at all. Again, I made multiple phone calls and did not receive ANY response. I understand that things break, and appliances at times can have issues, but I would also like to express my profound disappointment with the customer service response of this company. While I have had a great experience working with the leasing agent at JFA, almost every time I attempted to communicate with the JFA office staff, I was quickly interrupted, or met with a rude and uncaring response. This is simply unprofessional and I am sharing my experience in an attempt to spare future renters from going through a similar trajectory. read more

Very rude, unhelpful management. They don't solve any of your problems. Called about change machine in laundry room not working and the lady is rude and says how the laundry machines are bad and are like throwing away your money anyway. I agreed they are always broken down and she gets defensive saying they are a luxury and could be taken away so no one can do laundry and laughs. I cannot emphasize the degree to which this company needs to focus on improving their customer service; it is, quite frankly, shameful. Being a family-owned business for 30 years, one would hope that the service you receive from them is at least personable - quality service is so often what draws customers to a family-owned business in the first place. Sadly, I have never witnessed elderly residents treated so poorly. Conditions at John B. Sliney House leave something to be desired and their staff have been so deeply disappointing. This is subsidized, low-income housing, but that doesn't mean residents should be treated any differently from those who occupy their higher end properties. When it comes to investigating resident complaints, they certainly do not conduct due diligence and proceed with only one side; they seem to only want to do enough to assuage the complainant and then "punish" the other party, throwing their dignity to the curb. They claim, "our goal is to have our tenants enjoy their stay with us.", but it is clear that they do not mean EVERY tenant, only the ones who can complain the loudest; this leaves the ones who are uncomfortable making a fuss and want only to mind their own business left to fend for themselves. Beware when staff reach out with "concerns" for it is transparent that their intentions are not pure as their messages are always communicated with an air of condescension and impatience. It is a very, very sad thing to witness. With that being said, I genuinely hope they can improve their services. About 4 years ago I would have recommended renting from this company. Now I recommend you stay away. Office staff is rude. The company is owned by the same family, but in the last year a different member of that family has begun to manage their properties. Ever since there has been someone new the rent keeps going up, but amenities are taken away. The laundry rooms were recently changed to just one laundry room for the entire facility. This is very disappointing to me since I first started renting here BECAUSE there was laundry in my building. They don't seem to be screening the new applicants well because the new renters seem to get ruder and ruder. There is always trash overflowing out of the dumpster because management is too cheap to have it emptied more often. Some things you just have to put up with in apartment buildings, but this place has gotten so bad I'd rather take my chances elsewhere. read more
