I can't say enough about the magic of Park City Main Street. I mean, I'm a local, sure, but it still holds charm and wonder for me. It's the kind of place where you want to grab that special someone, escape, wander up and down the street, hold their hand, and think about how lucky you are to have found them and to have found yourselves together in this mystical mountain town. When it comes to Main Street, there are all kinds of art galleries. Big, little, photos, fine art; they're all worth visiting. I've been to J GO a few times, and it continues to be one of my favorite galleries on Main. Each gallery has its own identity and personality, but J GO certainly stands apart from the rest. While each experience is different depending on the artists on display, the time of year, and your own mood and disposition, I can comfortably say there isn't another gallery like it. While others cover more traditional fine art, photography, or sculptures, J GO takes a more modern slant. It's not so modern that there are strange things crawling out of walls or floor displays that make you question whether they're art or a janitor's half-done project, but definitely more modern in lines, feel, mood and color. One of my favorite bits of the city entire is in J GO--it's the WonderBox. This small alcove in the basement is an old silver vault, and now houses some of the more curious and funky pieces of art. From clowns to dolls or small delightful works of art, it's a little bit silly, a lot though-provoking, and in a town where you can only look at so many photos of trees or barns, it's definitely memorable. To find J GO, look on the east side of the street, and when you see the sign, head downstairs. You can't really see in from the street, so take that leap and head down the stairs. There's also an entrance on the back side (Swede Alley, I think?) and that one is a little less trafficked but more visible and accessible. No matter the season, it's never a bad time to hit up Main Street. Escape, saunter, leave your cares behind, and find the whimsy of the WonderBox and the entire J GO Gallery. read more

Some interesting 'stuff' going on here. They say art can remind us of things we used to do, and inspires us to look at those 'things' in a different light. One piece that inspired me was a simple, almost juvenile piece, that featured a moon and a tent on a starry night. Reminded me of days when I could endure well the company of flies and nature's elements that, frankly, intimidate me now. The piece is quite small and costs around $950. read more

Fun stop in Park City. There is a lot of browsing going on when vacationing...especially in Park City. There are lots of galleries, restaurants, and shops to keep you entertained. This gallery is a smaller one with some nice work. They have a friendly staff as well. Later on my stroll, I saw another gallery up the road on Main with the same name. I didn't check that one out, but wondered if it was an extension of this one or if they moved locations. Either way, stop by. You might find just what you need for a wall back at home. read more

This is definitely one of the most interesting, ambient galleries in Park City. The spectrum of art here is amazing and they also have eclectic, tasteful and fine jewelry. I am an artist, designer and art lover, so finding a gallery that curates an eclectic mix with an eye towards the curious is a rare treasure! Judy Grenney has a stable of innovative artists, mostly working in abstraction, whose combined works are an absolute thrill to the eye. I am especially fond of Jenn Shifflet's mesmerizing bubbles of light, and Krista Harris' lush and wild color explorations. Two delightful surprises of the gallery are the collection of fine jewelry artists who stretch your imagination with use of materials, and the Wonder Box, a former vault turned curiosity shop! It is different in that you feel welcome when entering: Accepted and valued, not scrutinized and nasty-eyed...but welcome. You'll have a pleasant conversation with the proprietor. And as you stroll around the space, you'll note not just wall art, but jewelry. Beautifully handcrafted, one of a kind pieces that are surprisingly affordable, and created by various artists.
