a bowl of food

When we went the sushi chief was on vacation so cannot rate the sushi but food was a little bland. Nothing horrible just not spectacular either. Like I would eat here again but wouldn't get excited about it. I spiced my dish up with the chili sauce which helped. The waitress was very friendly.

Huge portion of delicious Kimchi Fried Rice

Absolutely amazing! I was so surprised to see a top-notch Korean restaurant in Sidney. The restaurant is super cozy and very comfortable. We ordered the bulgogi set and kimchi fried rice. The kimchi rice was out of this world amazing! Super hot, delicious, and not overly spicy. Not to mention the portions are HUGE! I practically had two meals out of it. Can't wait to come back and try the other dishes!

Amazing food and excellent service! Easily the best Korean/Asian spot in town--fresh, flavorful, and always satisfying. Highly recommend!

Best bento box I've ever had. Large serving. Excellent rice. Very unassuming restaurant but definitely somewhere to stop.

=== 1. VERDICT/VALUE In the food desert that is southern…read moreCordova Bay...Haro Sushi is like an oasis. The Korean proprietors offer primarily sushi and few Korean options when looking for something a little different than the Western cuisine options nearby / down the road. And you won't be disappointed either - recommended for friends; I'm definitely returning when I can also! === 2. FOOD The bento box may be the best value on the menu. We happened to choose a number of items for takeout this evening: - California Roll ($6.50) - Haro Roll ($18.50) - Pork Gyoza ($7) - Maki Combo ($18) - Dynamite Combo ($18) - Salmon Sashimi ($15) - Chicken Udon ($13.99) - Kimbob Roll ($8.50) - Japchae The only thing I might think about before ordering again would be the udon: see my picture, so it wasn't bad but it was unusual how they did the soup and they put red peppers in there, which is unusual... === 3. SERVICE Service over the phone and in person were great in English; they staff speak to each other in Korean and I can only presume service would have been just fine for Korean-speaking patrons. The food was also prepared reasonably quick. === 4. ENVIRONMENT So it's plain white inside - a clean white. There is bar-style seating at the front window and a few small tables meant for groups of 2 or 4 inside. Wheelchairs and baby strollers should have no challenges fitting and the parking is as plentiful as it gets in the this relatively-new residential shopping complex.

The service is exceptional and sushi fresh! Clean restaurant. Lots of room to sit in. Take out is…read morealso super fast!

=== 1. VERDICT/VALUE It's not better or worse - just…read moredifferent than Popeye's down the road - the flavour profile is different. Popeye's offers two flavours (spicy and not), the option of breast meat, and meat that is marinated/saltier. Pelicana offers nine flavours, bone-in or not, only dark meat, and thinner batter - chicken lovers win with all of the choices between the two restaurants! === 2. FOOD You're coming here for the chicken: - Boneless is better value, as each piece is smaller, but fills up the box better (so you get more meat per box). - Bone-in offers mainly drumsticks, with some thighs (cut in half maybe?)... the bone-in box we got only had three drumsticks and a mixture of broken/cut thighs and boneless pieces. Korean soy sauce, and the sweet signature sauces are nice; you can order the chicken with the sauce on the side (for dipping) which makes it much more palatable for those sensitive to salt. In fact, we prefer to order it this way anyway, because the fried chicken by itself without the sauce is pretty good too :) The boxes of chicken start at "medium" - which is supposed to be 8 pieces but consistently more than that, bring it to be a much better value than Popeyes. The drumsticks here beat Popeyes, but Popeyes has larger thigh pieces. === 3. SERVICE They claim that unlike Popeyes, they only make the chicken when you order it, so I recommend calling ahead of time, or be available to wait about 10-15 minutes. The staff have been professional every time, and seem to speak English and Korean. === 4. ENVIRONMENT It's small and a little drab, so we've only done takeout. Actually, I can't recall any time in which I saw a dine-in customer; they would be limited regardless, as there are really only a few tables, catering only to groups of 2 or 4. Wheelchairs and baby strollers can fit with ease. The only challenge may be parking - it ebbs and flows in the shopping complex lot, but it's often busy at lunch time and when the college and university and schools let out!
