J Maxx folks: Ruben and CJ have saved me from torturous and never-ending phone calls with MPI. My brand new, really brand new car as of December 30, 2025 was smashed by a driver going through a stop sign in mid February. UUGGG. Thank heavens no one was hurt. The whole right side of my car was smashed in so the passengerside doors didn't work, nor the container for the windshild wiper water was broken, the lights on the passenger side and the blinker was broken also. UUGGG (If I haven't said that before). Rueben gave me a call and asked me to bring in the car. They wrote up what needed to be repaired. I waited in the front room. When CJ told me he was ready - I went back and he had somehow made it possible to open the doors, showed me how to live with no window water. I had no expectation whatsoever that they would be able to quickly fix the doors so we could use them until the car went back for the full repair. Rueben called to confirm the repair date in June. When I drove in at 10:00 am all the paperwork was ready!!! Get that - the paperwork was ready for me to sign. The whole turning over my car took maybe 8 minutes. Then he called me about 10 days later to say the paint was drying and I could come the next day. My car was sparkling!! Both the inside and out. THE INSIDE too!!! I have been driving my car - now for two weeks. I have had NO - Zero - ZIP problems since I received it back!!! I have waited these two weeks before I wrote a review in case there was a problem. NO PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER!!! If I could give Rueben and CJ 10 ********** in gold I would immediately. Thank you J Maxx for hiring top notch employees. Great experience from start to finish at J Max Collision Centre. I was inquiring about a repair, which had been part of a previous MPI claim, and George recognized that something may not have been completed properly. He quickly noted that it would be fixed under warranty and completed the required paperwork and scheduled a time for me, as well as offering a courtesy vehicle, (which was spotless). I was greeted by professional, polite and friendly staff, and felt comfortable that may concerns were heard. When my vehicle was ready, it was also spotless, inside and out. I will be back in the Spring to have my vehicle detailed by J Max, which will make my 2015 RDX look great. I highly recommend J Max for their attention and detail and helpful staff. I used this centre 5 years ago to fix my mothers SUV. hit and run on side of car in a Safeway parking lot. Once again I needed some boby work done on my mothers SUV and went back to Max Collision Centre. They were happy to help and did so very efficientley and at a very good price for my Mothers car. Amazing service. As someone who isn't extremely knowledgeable about cars, the staff explained the issues incredibly well. They also cleaned and vacuumed my entire car inside and out, which is above and beyond as I was only in for a window repair. First time Yelp... I've used several body shops over the years, Boyd, Birchwood, Landau Ford (now Capital), My Jmax experience has stood out considerably. The quality of work and customer service is unbeatable. In 2010 they were the only place between Winnipeg and Steinbach that said they would try pulling a used window from a supplied car to put into another, the guy was upfront about how difficult my cars wrap around window would be remove without breaking, but it went flawlessly and took less than an hour, for less than 100 bucks too... I should have always used them but I got into the habit of getting work done where I bought my car. I found myself returning to Jmax everytime. Most recently they did work on my MX-5, I had 3 claims piled up on my baby but wasn't going to bring it anywhere else. Gerry Gordon's did a terrible job the one time I went there... Not only did Jmax get everything right, paint, panel gaps and done on time, they corrected the shitty door alignment Gerry Gordon's had done, they buffed up the entire car and removed the dealers logo all free of charge. To nit pick, I found a single grain of sand in all the repainted panels, but right now they are operating in a skeleton facility, I was suprised to see how positive the staff still were despite the workplace situation. Once their new facility is complete, everything can only get better, and I am confident they are already the best. read more

Please note - apparently there is a difference between Jmax auto repair and Jmax auto body. My experience was with the mechanical shop, and it is to that this review pertains. I have no experience with the auto body shop, with the exception of receiving an unsolicited telephone call from them asking me to clarify this in my review. I do not know what the relationship is/was between the two shops - all that I do know is that BOTH shops are listed on my invoices, and that the following is an accurate account of what happened when we took our family car into the mechanical shop. We've been bringing our cars here for the last 10 years. Over that time, the sensation of things being slightly off has increased from mildly irritating mistakes (leaving a light in my engine, not plugging lights back in, small details) to the more serious concerns, such as what happened this December. We took the car in for a new starter and to have it winterized - fluids changed, tires rotated, given the once-over for peace of mind on winter roads. Within three days, the car was making a loud rubbing sound whenever in motion, and constantly vibrating. Took it back to J-max only to be told we were "lucky" to have done so, as the front ball joint was on the verge of collapse. To their credit, they acknowledged that they should not have missed this during our previous appointment and apologized for it, but it is terrifying to think what might have happened if we had assumed that their assessment of our vehicle was sufficient and continued driving it. I have been a JMax customer for years. Mechanical mainly, but certainly auto body too as the need has arisen. They are fantastic. They are a team and work together to get you and keep you on the road. Interestingly, the more I mention JMax, the more I hear "Oh, I go there too and so does......" Often, I run into people I know there. Theres a reason for this: John and Joel Semchuk and the way they run the company and relate with their staff, many very long term employees. I love JMax and would recommend it to all of my friends. When I first moved to Winnipeg I went to a number of CAA licensed mechanics (I'm a member). All overcharged and underperformed. J Max staff are knowledgeable, efficient and helpful. They'll take you with little or no notice if it's urgent and their prices can't be beat. On a number of occasions I've compared their prices to Fountain Tire and a few other places for work they've done, and they come out anywhere from $20-$100 cheaper, depending on the work. And the work is top notch. Maybe the commenter in 2011 had a bad experience, but my experiences with these guys couldn't be more different. Only reason it's not 5 stars is because their courtesy cars are always booked far in advance, so it's a bit inconvenient if the car is staying there for any period of time. But overall, fantastic work! read more

I've lived in Winnipeg all m life, and over that span I've been no stranger to car accidents.. malfunction.. a mis-maneuvers, which have earned me a ding or two (or several.. and perhaps more than a ding) on the various vehicles I've owned since I've begun driving. First off, not all auto-body, glass or mechanical shops are born equal, and I've tried a few with varying levels of comfort and success, but a number of years ago after being rear ended a neighbor recommended I go to J-Max. I wasn't disappointed. Being no stranger to car repair I had a number of expectations coming in, a little anxiety and a lot of stress. But this was all for not... while my expectations were not only met but exceeded, it took only moments for the friendly demeanor of the J-Max staff to put me at ease, As soon as I entered the shop's comfortable front office I knew i was in good hands. The first time I came in my vehicle was thoroughly inspected, I was helped through dealing with mpi (always my least favorite part) and as I left in a courtesy car I just couldn't believe it was so easy. When I came to pick up my car I was handed the keys and greeted by name and led to a spotless "feels like new" Pontiac. The service was smile worthy and the job was executed flawlessly, And I've had the same experience over and over with every job I bring in, a couple vehicles later (the second one I actually purchased at J-max) and they still know my name when and make me feel welcome, no matter how bad of a driver they know I am. I took my vehicle in for glass repair. When they taped the window on someone must have used their fist to "pound" the tape on which dented my car. Can't say I was impressed by this. Service inside the shop is excellent though. read more

When I went in to get my windshield replaced they told me that they would call me after they had ordered it. I waited about 2 weeks untill I finally just went to Boyd Autobody and Glass. I was very uninmpressed with JMAXs customer service and I think it looks very bad on their part when they make their customer's wait. It is not worth the hassle to go here. read more

Took my car into this shop about 2 weeks ago to get it all ready for winter. Made an appointment for 8 am so the car would be ready and done its inspection for when I had to go to work. My car didn't get on to the hoist until 4pm that day, and by the time their shop closed it was still torn apart so I couldn't take it home. Had to bitch at them until I was blue in the face to get a loaner car to get to work as they were 'sold out'. Turns out it was a huge effort to find one... which was just sitting in their auto body lot and not their mechanical lot. So they fix my car up and I go to get it the next day, they said it's all good for the winter now and my inspection bill turned into an $800 bill for a few repairs. Now jump to present day. Just 2 weeks after them saying my car is "all ready for winter" I just had to cab home at 3am because my car is fucking dead in my work parking lot for no apparent reason. It's not even cold enough yet for me to need to use my block heater. read more

took car in there may 2013 was suppose to be 2 weeks to get back for hail damage claim. After 3 weeks pass i call im told 3days then im told another 3 days.After 6 weeks i get a call to come get my car. They painted over all the hail on my roof and u could see it with out even looking hard it was standing out like a sore thumb because they painted over it all.Also hood still had dents and then dust under the clear coat in many spots. i complained and was told "okay we will get u in soon" well after waiting 4 weeks i had my car inspected by mpi and they said the same i was complaining about and called the shop and said it needed to be done a.s.a.p So i get a call from jmax and was told bring car in at the end of week. I bring the car in and they ended up finding 23 dents they painted over i go to pick my car up but now there are like pin hole paint cracks on roof and hood.I complain again. Now they tell me sorry bring car back in a week so i do. I bring it in and they tell me it will all need to be repainted and will be 1 week. I wait 2 and a half weeks and call they tell me "oh yea your car is in the back,come get it" I get there and all paint cracks are still there and they tell me we polished the car and the paint cracks were there before. Thats bull because i have picture of before and after including my adjuster so now after they had my car for over 9 weeks total and this taking 6 months my car still not done properly and im dealing with mpi and they are having me sent somewhere else and will be billing jmax for this because this is horrible. read more
