I've been going to JT's for years. The staff is great, service is great. The owner John has a lot of personality and so does his entire crew. Clean shop with great decor, I leave with a great haircut every time. Also great with kids, my 19 year old started going there when he was 4 or 5. We have always had great experience here. Jt's Barber Shop is a great experience. While you are waiting you can watch the TV, eat some of the Munchkins that they always put out, read a magazine, or listen to the music they have there. While you are getting your haircut you can talk with the barbers who are always talking about something. The barbers always do a great job on your haircut. I like this shop, it has a neighborhood feel to it, or maybe a talk show. If they don't know who you are, and they seem to know everybody - they will get to know who you are. You can't get a silent haircut here if you wanted to; the music/TV is on, the barber's talk amongst themselves and the patrons often intermingle, so prepare for a friendly gab fest like at the high school cafeteria; ppl come back here it seems, for the camaraderie. JT is a really great guy and know's his stuff, so everyone waits on line for him - like most shops, the owner's hand is favored. I've had a minor issue with one of the barbers there with a few comments he's let slip in the past that I didn't find entirely appropriate, probably in reference either to something that was on TV or a song that was in the background. this guy has to be in command of the general conversation, so if you start talking to your barber about whatever, he'll just cut you off and start talking to whoever is near him as you're in the middle of your story. a person like that can drive business away - unless you simply ignore it. probably not a big deal to most of JT's patron's - but I'm a good reader of people and this kid doesn't impress me. aside from that, haircuts are decent here, they do a good job. what i don't like is that he's charges about $18 for a cut, so with a decent tip you're over $20 and I don't like paying over $20 for a half-an-hour haircut, no matter who does it. This was the closest I have ever come to being tortured. Trimmer was dug into my scalp like the barber was scraping ice from his windshield. I said not too short and he made it very short. Put wax in my ears pulled it out causing pain. Told him to stop and just use a scissors in my ears to cut the hair out. I don't he owns a pair. Used a small electric trimmer and pulled on my ear to open it and get it in there. Then he cut me in my ear and I am bleeding! Then he is hunting for his septic stick and could not find it. Eventually found it. I paid for all this pleasure. Never, ever go to this place! read more

They have a nice clean shop with three chairs and an ever expanding clientele with a nice big screen TV and there's always some good music playing. Motor cycle and other men's genre magazines are in the waiting area and the Barbers are bound to strike up a good conversation. I have gotten 3 cuts here over the past year with no complaints about the style and overall outcome of the experience. Be warned, it gets packed during the rush hours (after work / weekends) so plan accordingly. Just had my first hair cut here by John, the owner. Being from the city and new in the neighborhood, I was a bit nervous about a new spot. I have to say he did a really great job.
