Five years ago, my teenaged son was having a musculo-skeletal problem which was causing him to literally collapse to the floor while walking. We took him to our "regular" doctor. X-rays were taken of his shoulder, nothing unusual was found, and the doctor told him he was "fine". Yeah, right. We then sought the help of a highly recommended chiropractor, who diagnosed that his pelvic bones were loose and needed "tightening". My son was given a belt to wear around his hips. It was mildly to moderately helpful. Then we went to Dr. Holland, who diagnosed that my son's flat arches were affecting his skeleton all the way up to his shoulder, which is where he'd been experiencing his pain. The Doctor was engaging and generous with my son in explaining all of the mechanics. He gave us a pair of $30 shoe lifts, explaining why they were superior in design to the $300 lifts, and my son's issue cleared immediately and permanently (he still wears his lifts). In September I collided with a car that had turned in front of me while I was going 55mph. I "only" broke my wrist, but I also developed some very complex and painful problems which threatened my recovery. Back to Dr. Holland, and with his care and support I am nearly fully healed. It's been a very challenging eight months - with fear like nothing I've ever experienced before - and Dr. Holland has been my champion through it all. Expensive? Yes. Runs late sometimes? Yes. "Quirky"? If being a true genius in your field makes one quirky these days, then sure. I find Dr. Holland to be a fascinating and remarkably accomplished human being. But more than that, or maybe because of that, he's a true healer in an age where they're almost extinct.

Dr. Hiserote is not only a highly knowlegable and skilled practioner he is an active listener, intuitive and gentle. He also has a teaching background and I encourage a visit to his website to watch his very informative talk explaining what osteopathy is. Our bodies are perfectly designed to heal themselves but benefit greatly from expert guidence on our journey toward health and wholeness. Blue Sky Osteopathy Center is a beautiful and peaceful office space close to downtown Sebastopol (on my last visit in June they were practicing safety protocols due to Covid which was very reassuring). Gayla, who manages the office is multi-talented in her multi-tasking. She is compassionate, kind and always has a friendly smile (even behind her mask!). I highly recommend Dr. Hiserote, we are very lucky to have a DO of his caliber in Sebastopol!

Dr Young has been seeing me for 5 years now. I'm writing to give my highest recommendation for Dr…read moreYoung . First the backstory: I have lived with chronic pain my entire life, literally from the day I was born. I have a congenital birth defect that was not diagnosed until I was 55 years old. Rather than making my pain better, the surgery they did to remove the mass they discovered in my pre-sacral body cavity turned out to dramatically increase it. During this time period, I was treated by the pain clinic at Stanford Hospital. They were excellent, and I felt Based on my experience that they deserved their reputation as one of the best pain clinics in the country. Still, my pain worsened Along with my PTSD and I ended up having to move from the congested mid-Peninsula Town of Palo Alto to Ukiah. I was referred to Dr Young and after literally Decades of seeing pain doctors either did not understand, did not deeply listen, or did not have their focus on me. Dr Young has helped me get off of methadone-It has been 3 years now. He has worked with me to find the most effective medication for procedure for me that has the lowest side effect and risk profile. He is always willing to offer me new ideas and possible solutions to my predicament. Perhaps the greatest thing he has given me is Hope. At one point I had an accidental overdose. When I woke up in the emergency room the first face I saw was Dr Young at my bedside. He reached over and gave me a deep long hug. Not the kind of thing a doctor does. I start to cry when I think about it now. He stayed within healthy doctor/patient boundaries yet managed to give me a level of support I did not receive from anyone in my family.

He actually pulls his chair closer ( before C19) to talk to you, so you really know he listens. He continually expands his knowledge in the field of pain management, networking with colleagues (friends) from even Japan for me. He's brilliant and wants to work with you not just for you. If he, or I, had to move, I'd drive to wherever he is for appointments . He works 24 hours a day I think. You become a team for your health & if you are willing to put the work in you will get better. He has told me I should have been in a walker or more years ago. I told him I'm too stubborn for that. Some days it is hard to get out of bed I'min so much physical pain whereupon, I've called him on weekends or after hours and he has never derided me for calling & always supportive and caring, wanting to help. If you are really a team player, get a referral if he is still accepting. Get ready to not just take pills...
